2015 Statistics Survey

I had so much fun participating in the Statistics Survey last year, so I knew I needed to join in again this year. I have an obsession with end-of-year surveys and this one focuses on fun statistics about books read during the year. Using Crini’s amazing book spreadsheet has made this whole endeavor a LOT easier this year. Without further ado, here are my stats!

Number of authors met in 2015: One! I met Leigh Bardugo at BEA in May.

Book read furthest away from home (vacation reads?): The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes was read while I was in Charlotte, Even in Paradise was read in Chicago! Lots of pages in those were also read waaaay above the sky on an airplane.
Book that took you the longest to read: I’d have to say Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. It basically took me from September to October, because I was reading it occasionally through September, took a break, and then started the audio in October after it was released.
Book that you personally connected with the most: One of my new all-time favorites is Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid, primarily because I related so much to the character and ALWAYS think about fate, destiny, and consequences of actions. Loved it immensely.
Book that made you love the villain: Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo involved my boy, the Darkling, who I will always have a soft spot for… I’m sure you all agree!
Book you said you’d come back to but still haven’t picked up again: Hmm, I DNFed a few books that I would consider coming back to. I guess the one with the strongest possibility would be The Heartbreakers by Ali Novak. I think I was a bit harsh with it and didn’t give the MC enough time to rebound from what pissed me off. But, I was reading it on a deadline and didn’t want to bother wasting my time.
Book you read waaaay before it’s publication date: Because I do a lot of ARC tours, I read plenty of books waaaay too early. I think it jarred me a little bit when I read This is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp in JULY when it doesn’t even come out until JANUARY. Lord help me. I actually read it exactly six months before its pub date.
Book you read on your birthday: I read the novella Matt’s Story by Lauren Gibaldi all in that day… and that’s it! I finished a book the day before and started a new one the day after.
Book with a character who shares your name: I’m going to start keeping track of this next year! I can’t think of any with my actual name even though I KNOW there are some. I’ll go with Laurel from The Lying Game series by Sara Shepard. Close enough!!
Book you weren’t entirely truthful about when rating (Fluff up any ratings? Rated even though you didn’t finish?): I’m big on fluffing ratings and regretting it later. I’m honestly too generous. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell was reviewed and given 3 stars even though my heart says less than that. Sorry, RR/Cath lovers.
Book you read in 2015 but already want to re-read: The biggest one I’ve been thinking of rereading is Princess of Thorns by Stacey Jay. I’m also really tempted to reread Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway because I was actually tempted to reread that one right after finishing it the first time around.
Book you borrowed from a friend a long time ago and still have: East of Eden by John Steinbeck was borrowed from my friend back in college. (Was this question on last year’s survey? Whoops I really need to give this back.)
Book you which you could go back and read for the first time again: SO MANY! I think Nowhere But Home by Liza Palmer is a top choice, just because I was so ~in there~ while reading and would love to experience it all over again.
Most books read by one author this year: I read 6 books by Sara Shepard because I binged The Lying Game series, plus read The Good Girls. I also read 5 books by Marissa Meyer (the whole Lunar Chronicles series).

Happiest: The Disaster Artist by Greg Sestero made me the happiest because of my love for The Room, his Tommy impression, and just how fun it is for fans of the movie.
Saddest: This is a tie between Come Away with Me by Karma Brown and All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven, because I just straight up sobbed for so many pages.

Food you craved while reading a certain book: Oh god the bacon tuna melts from Just Visiting by Dahlia Adler made me soooo hungry and crave them.
Book that became an instant go-to recommendation: The One Thing by Marci Lyn Curtis (because it was so underrated and no one had really read it!)
Furthest out of your comfort zone: Nowhere But Home by Liza Palmer was at the time, because this was before (a) I started my adult contemporary kick and (b) I realized that I DO like southern settings.
Read on a recommendation (that you may not have picked up yourself): I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios, just because the PTSD element didn’t appeal to me much.
Forced yourself to finish: This one is easy. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta was hard to get through and the ending didn’t even make it worth it. Sorry, friends.
Series or author’s works you binged (whether all at once or throughout the year): The Lying Game by Sara Shepard was definitely the binge of the year because I did them back-to-back. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer is a close second, but I read one a month.

Post with the most views (posted in 2015): My post about my Traveler’s Notebook (as a part of the Organization Series I plan on continuing soon!) got the most views. This was at the height of the Foxy Dori craze, so I’m not surprised.
Post you wish you could re-write: I wrote about Slut-Shaming, Relationships, and Feminism in YA a few months ago. I actually really enjoyed writing this post and think I made valid points, but maybe some didn’t come across the right way. I would love to comb through and make some edits.
