Top Ten Tuesdays #105: Fall TV

Fall TV Freebie: Ten Favorite TV Shows Ever Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. This week’s TTT is: In honor of Fall TV, do a tv-themed topic! Top ten favorite tv shows of all time, ten new shows coming out this Fall that are on my radar, tv shows I wish never got cancelled, tv shows I would recommend to book characters, books I wish would be tv shows, ten favorite shows from the late 90’s or early 2000’s, ten tv shows for every fantasy lover, etc. As usual, all of these ideas sound amazing. It took me forever to narrow this down to just one of these topics! I figured I don’t talk about TV too much on here except in passing, so I wanted to talk about my all-time favorite shows. The other topics may come sometime in the future! Friends I think this should go without saying because I try to toss a Friends gif in every review I write. I once cried about how much I loved Friends on New Years because people didn’t seem to understand it. I don’t even like talking about Friends with some people because I just don’t think they GET IT. There are some people I know I can count on though 😉 […]

Throne of Glass Series – Part One

Throne of Glass Series – Part One

I’ve been saying for literal years that I needed to get going on this series. I kept promising everyone “by the end of the year!!” and it never happened. Something just clicked the other day when I needed a new audiobook, and I just pressed play on the first book without thinking. I had actually planned to read the novella bind-up first because people are very passionate about doing that, but I completely didn’t think of it at the time. In any case, I hopped into it right after finishing book one and before heading to book two. SO, here you’ll find my reviews for the first book, the novella bind-up, and the second book. (The order below is in the order I read them, but technically you could definitely read the novellas first!) I finally did it, guys! I can’t believe it. After reading and loving both ACOTAR and ACOMAF, I thought it really was time to get to Sarah J. Maas’s first series. I obviously had built it up a little in my head because it’s so many people’s favorite series ever. Luckily, I also knew that this is a series that gets better with each book (supposedly). My expectations were held in check a little because of that; I knew if I didn’t LOVE the first book I could still likely love later books. That’s kind of what happened here! I was a little bit underwhelmed at times because it felt like not much was happening. I know […]

ARC August and Bout of Books Wrap-Up

ARC August is officially over and I did a fairly decent job honestly. Let’s recap on my goal: My goal was to have a 1:1 ARC to regular/backlist ratio this month. I was really hoping I could push it to 2:1, especially with my goal to only read ARCs for Bout of Books at the end of the month. How did I do? Let’s investigate. Progress/Tracking Week One (8/1 through 8/6) Non-ARCs finished: 0   ///   ARCs finished: 2 Non-ARCs: None this week August 2nd: Finished WRECKED, Started IF I FIX YOU August 5th: Finished IF I FIX YOU Week Two (8/7 through 8/13) Non-ARCs finished: 2   ///   ARCs finished: 1 Non-ARCs: Harry Potter & the Cursed Child, Truly Madly Guilty August 8th: Started GEMINA August 12th: Finished GEMINA Week Three (8/14 through 8/20) Non-ARCs finished: 3   ///   ARCs finished: 1 Non-ARCs: Nantucket Red, Before I Fall, Crown of Midnight August 15th: Started GAME ON August 18th: Finished GAME ON August 19th: Started SWEET CAROLINA MORNING Week Four (8/21 through 8/27) Non-ARCs finished: 0   ///   ARCs finished: 2 Non-ARCs: None August 21st: Started THIS ADVENTURE ENDS August 22nd: Finished SWEET CAROLINA MORNING August 23rd: Finished THIS ADVENTURE ENDS August 24th: Started THE YEAR WE TURNED FORTY Week Five (8/28 through 8/31) Non-ARCs finished: 0   ///   ARCs finished: 1 Non-ARCs: None August 29th: Started CHERRY August 31st: Finished THE YEAR WE TURNED FORTY Wrap-Up I ended up finishing ARC August with a total of 5 regular books to 7 ARCs. YAY! That’s better than the 1:1 I was hoping for. I read more ARCs than backlist titles, so that’s great for me. Bout […]

Vacation Week Immediate TBR

Vacation Week Immediate TBR

I am on a glorious vacation ALL WEEK. Today is my last day of work until September 12th. My vacation will involve sitting on my ass at home for days and days… and reading a lot of books. Usually I only take time off so I can GO somewhere. But, because of Labor Day and other fun friend/party things happening, I’m taking the whole week off to do whatever I want. My birthday is on Friday (weeee!) so Chris and I will be spending some time doing something. But other than that? I’ll be home, by myself, enjoying a lot of Netflix and (hopefully more) reading. I hope to treat this almost like Bout of Books where I just kind of read like there’s no tomorrow. I’ve been thinking about how badly I need this uninterrupted reading time. I thought it would be fun to put together an immediate TBR for this week of vacation. I hope to get through as many of these as possible, but I also want to do some other ~* me things *~ this week too. I love Chris and living with him is great, but it can be really hard to focus on things like reading or other TV shows I want to watch. I usually get some good time when he’s in the middle of a video game or something, but this week is MIIIIINEEEE to be alone with my books and quiet. I hope at least some of you know where these gifs […]

Bookmark Lit Bulletin | August into September 2016

The Bookmark Lit Bulletin was created to wrap up each month and prepare for the next. I share my life happenings, book haul, books I read and reviewed, posts I shared, challenge updates, and more from the previous month. I also let you know what may be coming up on the blog in the coming month. You can read past bulletins here and learn more about the feature here. I was definitely reading too many books in the beginning of the month, and it threw me off. I usually like to keep it to two books at a time, maybe three if I feel the need to read a Kindle book before bed… but at the beginning of the month I was juggling four at once. Because of that, I felt like I never made progress on any of them. I did a better job with some of the reading challenges in the middle/end of the month though, so that was nice. Average rating for books read in August: 3.91 stars Highlights & Lowlights All of the books read this month: This Month ARC August Challenge 7 books for the challenge  •  1:1 ratio goal exceeded (7:5) Books read this month: Bout of Books Readathon 2 books for the challenge  •  “Only read ARCs” goal achieved Books read this challenge: Year-Long Contemporary Romance Challenge 6 books this month  •  50 total read  •  238% complete Books read this month: Debut Author Challenge 1 book this month  •  14 total read  •  117% complete Books read this month: Backlist […]
