My Life in Books Tag

I saw the “My Life in Books” tag over on Sydney’s blog and it looked like a lot of fun. I need more tags like this because my inspiration / creativity for other posts has been minimal lately. I tried to answer these questions based on books I’ve already read and enjoyed, minus the ones involving a TBR.

Find a book for each of your initials.

L: Leave Me by Gayle Forman
C: Caraval by Stephanie Garber
R: Replica by Lauren Oliver

I wanted to be sure to use books I really enjoyed, because it is my name after all 😉 I was also hoping to squeak this out using the minimal books I have near me right now. I could only find one book that started with R, so I went to trusty Goodreads instead.

Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1)

Count your age along your bookshelf. What book is it?

Shadowlands by Kate Brian | Okay this one was difficult. I don’t have 25 books at my disposal, so I literally zoomed in on a picture of my bookshelf at my dad’s house. I went with the approximate 25th book because it was too hard to actually count each one perfectly.

Pick a book set in your city/state.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver | This is the first book I think of when I look for Connecticut books. I know I don’t exactly live there now, but I do part time and also will settle there for years probably. I looooved this book and it was even nicer knowing it’s in CT! I have a Goodreads shelf for this now too.

Pick a book that represents a destination you’d love to visit.

Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett | This book was great for many reasons, but the biggest thing I loved was the setting. It was perfectly quirky and unique, while having some of the California charm I’ve been dying to see in real life. I know the museum and town aren’t real, but there are similar locations out there I’d want to see.

Pick a book that’s your favorite color.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins | I love pink, especially when there’s some kind of ombre involved on a book cover! This is a cute one for sure.

Harold and the Purple Crayon A Tale of Two Cities Girl Before a Mirror

Which book do you have the fondest memories of?

Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson | I loved this book so much when I was younger! It was hard to narrow down the options for this one because I’ve been a reader my whole life, but this one stood out. I’d love to get some kind of purple crayon-related tattoo someday. I wish I had a dollar for every time I read this!

Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?

A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens | I was a good kid who usually read all of the difficult books for English class in high school 😉 I loved reading, so it wasn’t an issue. I remember flipping through this one and working Sparknotes because this was hard for me. Old English-y language is difficult.

Which book on your TBR pile will give you
the biggest sense of accomplishment when you finish it?

Girl Before a Mirror by Liza Palmer I have soooo many book options, and the reasons are all over the place – accomplished because it’s been on my TBR forever, because it has so many pages, because the hype is real… you name it. I think the biggest thing for me is the huge list of books I have where I can’t believe I haven’t read it yet. This is one of the biggest ones on that list! I loved one of her other books so much and I’m so nervous to read more of them.

  1. This was such a fun tag! And it got me thinking about books set in my home state, TX. I’m not sure of any at the top of my head, so now I feel like I need to scour my Goodreads looking for one. And I love the new cover of Anna and the French Kiss! I’d also love to visit Paris!
