Ten Books I Loved the Year I Started Blogging

Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review.

I’m kind of obsessed with this topic for today’s TTT! It’s a throwback freebie that can involve the books you loved when you first started blogging, books published 5-10 years ago, etc. I definitely wanted to go with the top ten books I loved back in 2014 when I first started blogging. 2014 was a really weird blogging and reading year for me. I started my blog in July and read some random books beforehand, but started to really get into the YA groove by the time it was nearing 2015. In any case, here are some of my favorite books I read in 2014. PS: check out the very relevant guest post I made on Ginger’s blog last week!

And a throwback to the exact graphic
I made for my “best of 2014” blog post…

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver | This book still holds up as an all-time favorite. I reread it earlier this year and was not disappointed. I’m not sure what it is, but I just love it.

The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty | This book still remains my favorite Liane Moriarty book. I know I’m in the minority here in terms of favorite Moriarty books, but none of her other books I’ve read surprised me as much as this book’s epilogue did.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins | YES. Still an extreme fave of mine. I’m desperately due for a reread of this series. I devoured this book and both of the following companion novels.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han | I’m so happy this book became a trilogy. I’ve almost never loved a family as much as I love the Song girls and their father. Each book was nearly as perfect as the previous book and honestly I’d read about them forever.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn | I was definitely addicted to this one. My boss was away for a week and I secretly read this book at my desk for an entire afternoon. Couldn’t get enough.

Breathe, Annie, Breathe and Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally | I love this because my first two Hundred Oaks books have remained my two favorites, even all these years later! I started the series out of order with BAB but quickly started the rest chronologically with CJ. Loved.

Dissonance by Erica O’Rourke | Oh man, talk about underrated books. I sincerely implore all of you to read this duology, plus the novella. I LOVED them so much and am also due for a reread.

Aspen by Rebekah Crane | I’m curious about how this book would hold up for me. I laughed SO much while reading this story. I continue to feature it on underrated lists as well.

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson | Waterworks for days. I cried as I finished this at my desk at work. The story was just so poignant and I’ll never forget it.

  1. Such a great list of books + loving the fact that there’s so many contemporary titles here. Even the thought of The Summer of Second Chances kind of makes me cry — that book completely destroyed me.
