I LOVE reading personal posts from other bloggers and seeing Jamie’s “If We Were Having Coffee” feature take off is so fun. Laura and Lindsey also have some great spin-offs of this feature too. I was very tempted to also make mine margarita-related (like Lindsey) but coffee is so ingrained in my daily life that it just makes sense to keep it. If you’re not familiar, it basically involves a fake little conversation about what’s been happening in our lives lately. Read on to see what’s been happening lately and feel free to chat back in the comments!
If we were having coffee… I’d ask how your weekend was! Start any new books? Get anything done around the house? I’m feeling very on top of things lately and it’s kind of a nice change. Chris and I have been good about cleaning up, staying organizing, buying things we need and not putting them off, and meal prep. I think I still need to work on the grocery shopping part of meal prepping and not wasting food, but baby steps…
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you about some of my favorite new beauty and skincare items I’ve added to my current rotation! I don’t change up the foundation of my makeup routine (overall face makeup, mascara, etc.) very often because once I find something that keeps me matte, I don’t change anything… but I’m always excited to try new skincare, eyeshadow, and lip products. I bought the Gerard Cosmetics liquid lipstick a long time ago and finally tried it. I lasts SUPER long but this color was a bit too bright for me/the work day. I’m also enjoying the Purity facial cleanser, which I got as a part of a sample set from the holiday season. Finally, I’ve been using the Pixi Glow Tonic at night instead of the Glossier Solution and I’m liking it more, I think!
If we were having coffee… I’m sure I’d have to tell you about Weight Watchers. Not the most fun topic, but one that’s always annoyingly at the top of mind for me. Especially if we’re at a coffee shop where donuts and calorie-filled drinks are waiting for me. So far WW is going really well – much better and more flexible than calorie counting was for me. I’m likely to reach my goal weight somewhere around the March/April timeframe but I’m definitely sick of tracking my food for a million years straight. A few benefits though: you don’t have to change your meals that much to fit into the system, the methodology will probably always be in your head so you can keep healthy-ish without having to count or pay for a membership, and it really does work.
If we were having coffee… I definitely would have OPENED with my feelings about the Super Bowl but I didn’t feel like ranting on the very first topic of my post today. It’s no secret how much I hate the Patriots, for a WIDE array of reasons, so naturally I’m annoyed this week. The game was embarrassingly bad and boring… and yes, I love a good defensive football game. This was just… not that for me. Brady seriously needs to retire while he’s still “on top” in a way because he looks like a shell of his former self and will look like an idiot in 1-2 years when he’s pushing 45. You did it, you won 6 Super Bowls, now get out of my fucking life. I can’t believe I sat through a 13-3 Super Bowl just to see the fucking Patriots scrape out a completely undeserved win.
If we were having coffee… I would talk about how much I’m enjoying my new Happy Planner for 2019! I still have temptations to get another reading journal/planner like last year but I just can’t justify it. I barely used mine in the second half of the year. In any case, this planner is organized quite well! I think I should get stickers to mark the categories instead of writing it every day, but it’s not a big deal. I like having boxes for each time of day or type of note I’d need to include.
If we were having coffee… I’d continue the planner talk and ask you what you do with your planners and purses and organizational tools? I’ve been eyeing purses like this one or this one to try to bring everything to and from work each day. My purse is currently not a structured one and I can include my laptop when I’m feeling lazy, but never bring my planner home. I got a purse organizer but decided to return it because I’d rather just get a new purse for the work week at this point. I think that’s what I need – an organizer or a purse that has something built in for my laptop, planner, and other items. Thoughts? Recs?
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you how TERRIBLE we’ve been about watching TV. I always come up with these grand plans each year or season about which shows I’m going to binge or finally start watching… only for it to never happen. Ever. We watch wrestling a few times a week and otherwise somehow don’t watch anything?? We NEED to get going on some shows we’ve been needing to start or finish! The only thing I’ve been watching is Siesta Key because it’s terrible and I love it.
If we were having coffee… I’d absolutely spend too much time complaining about all of the weddings I’m in, as usual. We have two this year that I’m a part of (MOH for one of my best friends and bridesmaid for Chris’s sister’s wedding) and another couple that we’re hoping to attend. I love going to weddings and the actual events, but everything about being IN someone’s wedding is so stressful and annoying – bachelorette planning, bridesmaid dresses/shoes/etc, and just alllll of the added costs. I’m sick of spending literally all of my discretionary income on items for people’s weddings. At this rate I’ll never be able to afford my own at some point!
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you I’m participating in another monthly bookstagram challenge! December is my favorite month for bookstagram because of holiday-themed posts, but February is definitely my second favorite for all the HEART things. I’m not huge into Valentine’s Day but I don’t mind it. My aesthetic is very pink and I have heart-shaped things everywhere, so the props are easy for this month. I only just started but maybe check out my Instagram? I’m working toward maybe getting 1,000 followers this year! (I just signed up for a free course so I’m hoping that helps me too.)
If we were having coffee… I’d ask how your blogging and reading life currently is. Mine is okay? I can’t get inspired for posts lately and I’m just not in the mood to blog as much. I told myself I would cut back on posts this year anyways but I can’t shake the 4-5 days a week thing. I had a great reading month in January but February is off to a slow start. We had a weekend with friends that went longer than expected and I’ve barely read anything since the 1st of the month. I’m currently working on THE AU PAIR and CROOKED KINGDOM (in anticipation of finally getting to KING OF SCARS).
I’m very happy we are NOT having coffee and talking about the Super Bowl. 😛
You know I wouldn’t talk about it with you – we would totally still enjoy our coffee (well maybe a tea for you) <3
Ahh, I LOVE skincare, definitely going to have to check out those products! I recently started using the Mario Badescu cellufirm moisturizer, and love it so so much!
I also bought my first Happy Planner, and am really enjoying it. I never thought I’d be someone who puts stickers and decorates a planner (because it seems like so much work), but it’s so much fun, and I use it more often now because I like looking at all the pretty stickers lol.
Yes, same here!!
Oooh… I’ll have to check out Gerard Cosmetics. I basically wear liquid lipsticks exclusively now and am always up for a new brand!
Oooh they’re some of the best!
