Bookmark Lit Bulletin – June 2016

The Bookmark Lit Bulletin was created to wrap up each month and prepare for the next. I share my life happenings, book haul, books I read and reviewed, posts I shared, challenge updates, and more from the previous month. I also let you know what may be coming up on the blog in the coming month. You can read past bulletins here and learn more about the feature here. There were some really busy reading days and some low-key ones. I was either voraciously reading and in the mood for books… or completely the opposite. I’m super ahead on my Goodreads challenge so I’m not entirely worried if I get “behind” on the usual number of books I read per month. Ah, life and TV shows. Average rating for books read in June: 3.92 stars All book covers link to their Goodreads pages  Best of the Best  •  Pleasantly Surprised  •  Disappointed  All of the books read this month: Average rating for books reviewed in June: 4.04 stars   This month’s package was amazing – simple and full of things I love! I’ve been pining over a Friends role call tee shirt and this one is GREAT. It fits super well (I always get nervous about shirts, especially in women’s styles) and I’ve worn it too many times already. Ginger also sent one of my favorite books that I somehow didn’t own yet – Nowhere But Home by Liza Palmer. (Read this ASAP if you haven’t, omg!) Ebooks purchased (mostly) on sale: Anything Could Happen by Will Walton | […]

I also let you know what may be coming up on the blog in the coming month. You can read past bulletins here and learn more about the feature here. I was on a kick where I read way too many books at once and didn’t finish anything until May 5th. Kind of weird for me! I will say that ACOMAF was the main reason for this. I loved it but it took foooorever to read, then it gave me a nice book hangover. It was totally worth it though. Definitely a slow reading month overall. I brought so many books on vacation and ended up reading a total of less than 200 pages. At least it was nice on the beach! Average rating for books read in May: 3.54 stars All book covers link to their Goodreads pages  Best of the Best  •  Pleasantly Surprised  •  Disappointed    All of the books read this month: Average rating for books reviewed in May: 3.88 stars Thank you Ginger (my newly revealed Secret Sister!) for such a wonderful summery package. Adorable sticky notes, delicious candy, a book I’ve been coveting (First There Was Forever by Juliana Romano), a great smelling candle, and summery chapstick! It’s so wonderful knowing your identity now too 🙂 Won in a giveaway // The […]

I also let you know what may be coming up on the blog in the coming month. You can read past bulletins here and learn more about the feature here. Yet again, read more books than I planned! I was on a crazy binge this month for some reason. I couldn’t get enough reading, even though I’m super ahead on everything. I’m happy the ARC tour books have slowed down (my fault, I know!) but my final one for a WHILE is currently in my possession, and that’s it. Time to focus on Bout of Books and the Clean Sweep Challenge for May! Average rating for books read in April: 4.07 stars All book covers link to their Goodreads pages  Best of the Best  •  Pleasantly Surprised  •  Disappointed  All of the books read this month: Average rating for books reviewed in April: 3.42 stars My Secret Sister sent me a “cravings” package this month and it was soooo perfect! She gave my my favorite snacks that I’ve been craving lately – Junior Mints, BBQ chips, and Oreos. She also gave me this really cute sunglasses case, which I didn’t know how much I needed until I had it! I always throw my glasses in my purse and then get mad when they get scratches. This […]

I also let you know what may be coming up on the blog in the coming month. You can read past bulletins here and learn more about the feature here. This month was a whirlwind. Sometimes I was stuck on one book for a few days; other books I finished within a couple of hours. It was nice to have a mix, but I have to say – I stressed myself out a little too much this month. I neeed to relax on my ARC borrowing because this month was chock-full of June and July releases. Kind of insane, considering what month it is… Oh well, moving on! Average rating for books read in March: 3.8 stars All book covers link to their Goodreads pages  Best of the Best  •  Pleasantly Surprised  •  Disappointed    All of the books read this month: Average rating for books reviewed in March: 3.84 stars Secret Sister Project I swear, my Secret Sister is a mind-reader. The day I received this package, I was thinking about how badly I wanted to read 17 First Kisses soon. Insane timing! She also sent along some of my all-time favorite candies, which were eaten way too quickly. My favorite hot chocolate was perfect when it (ugh) snowed again the following week! She also gave me this […]

I had a busy end of the month and had to read a bunch of ARCs in a row. (I love ARC tours but man, they add up quickly! Back to back to back.) I made some good progress on my reading challenges as well. Overall, enjoyed pretty much every book I read! Love when that happens. Average rating for books read in February: 4.0 stars Highlights of the best and worst… Best of the Best  |  Pleasantly Surprised  |  Disappointed  All of the books read this month: Average rating for books reviewed in February: 4.07 stars Secret Sister Project My new Secret Sister sent me her first package! She chose the theme of things I love, to represent Valentine’s Day… and she nailed it! I got some Star Wars stuff (calendar and keychain), as well as some of my favorite candies (chocolate covered cherries, chocolate + raspberry truffles, and gummies). She also sent along How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffany Debartolo, which is one of her favorites. I’ve been really looking forward to that one! I also ate so much candy immediately. I don’t know what was going on at the beginning of the month, but I couldn’t stop reading! I read quite a few addicting ebooks in a row and just never let up for the first half of January. I did try to slow it down a little towards the end of the month because my resolutions told me to! She also revealed herself to me – Ashley from The Quiet Concert! She’s done such an amazing job of surprising me each month and really getting things I’d love. This package was no exception – two books I’ve been really wanting for a long time, actually – Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella and The Catastrophic History of You and Me  by Jess Rothenberg. She also got some fuzzy socks, an ornament shaped like an L, cupcake […]

(Harry Potter series, John Green’s books, a few by Sarah Dessen, etc.) I was able to finish over half of the AMOUNT of books needed, but didn’t focus on the books I selected themselves. It’s alright. I’m damn surprised at how much I killed it this month. I couldn’t stop reading. I managed to read 11 books in the first half of the month alone… and one of them was over 800 pages long!
