I know September is always hard for me because of my birthday, anniversary, and start of football. Reading just takes a back burner. I ended up reading a good amount early in the month and then tapered off in the second half. It got to be the 22nd and I was like, good lord, I need to at least finish one more. I ended up counting a cookbook again! And a novella! SIGH.      5 books read in September 5 new books  •  0 rereads  •  0 DNF Pages read: 1384 •   Average rating: 3.8 stars Sources: 2 purchased, 3 review Formats:  [Review] 1 egalley and 0 physical ARCs 1 hardcover, 1 paperback, 2 ebooks, 0 audio, 1 combo Genres: 4 contemporary, 1 nonfiction Age Target: 3 adult, 2 young adult Check out my 2020 challenge sign-up post for more details, goals, etc.! I’m still behind on my challenge, but I read 6 books in August! That feels so significant to me at this point haha. I really started to feel like reading again. I just kept putting pressure on myself (before) to start my workday earlier while the puppy was sleeping before 9am, but I’ve realized that I need more balance than that. He’s getting into a better schedule, more toys/chews occupy him, and I’m able to get more work done while he’s awake now. The two-ish hours I read in the morning have been really helpful and necessary.      6 books read in August 6 new books  •  0 rereads  •  0 DNF   Pages read: 2308 •   Average rating: 3.75 stars Sources: 4 purchased, 1 review, 1 owned Formats:  [Review] 2 egalleys and 0 physical ARCs 1 hardcover, 1 paperback, 1 ebook, 0 audio, 1 combo Genres: 3 mystery/thriller, 1 contemporary, 1 paranormal, 1 hist/retelling Age Target: 6 young adult Check out my 2020 challenge sign-up post for more details, goals, etc.! I decided to reduce my Goodreads challenge to 100 books instead of 120. Now I’m still behind, but it’s much more reasonable! I just know with all of the life changes (a puppy) and lack of interest in reading during these horrible garbage times… I’m never going to catch up with 15 books behind, but I can handle being behind by a few. I’ll probably catch up later when the dog requires a little less attention and is older. We’re going camping in a few weeks and I’m hoping to get some reading in then too.      5 books read in July 5 new books  •  0 rereads  •  0 DNF Pages read: 1903 •   Average rating: 4 stars Sources: 2 purchased, 2 review, 1 borrowed Formats:  [Review] 2 egalleys and 0 physical ARCs 1 hardcover, 0 paperbacks, 1 ebook, 0 audio, 1 combo Genres: 2 contemporary, 1 mystery/thriller, 1 nonfiction, 1 sci-fi Age Target: 2 young adult and 3 adult Check out my 2020 challenge sign-up post for more details, goals, etc.! It’s funny because I keep introducing theses posts like “wow, I thought X month was bad, now check out this one!” but genuinely nothing compares to the garbage pail that was June… and I mean that literally. I read FIVE books in June which is truly an all-time low for me since blogging. So low, in fact, that I completely forgot to even write this blog post. This post was drafted and scheduled late last week, so I want to hop in now to address the fact that Black Lives Matter. I am fully in support of the protesting that’s been occurring over the past few days and think it’s imperative that we ALL fight for reform. We need major changes in this country immediately. Lol if I thought April was bad, check out May. Yes, I managed to complete 9 books… but two were cookbooks, one was a small coffee table book, and another was a graphic novel. I just couldn’t focus on reading most of the time but I finished a few books in one sitting basically. Idk what’s going on anymore. I really wanted to finish a 10th book over the weekend but spent all of my time online following and supporting the protests instead of being able to focus on books.      9 books read in May 9 new books  •  0 rereads  •  0 DNF Pages read: 2,480  •   Average rating: 4.1 stars Sources: 7 for review, 1 gifted, 1 Book of the […]

Good lord, folks – my reading has been so back and forth this month. Chris suggested a few times to just stop forcing myself to read certain things, take a break from the book causing a slump, and read something you’re really excited about. I did this for BEACH READ and DATE ME, BRYSON KELLER and each time I was inspired to keep reading right afterwards. Sometimes certain books are just magical, folks. I knew I would finish the month still behind on my challenge, but I at least wanted to read 10 books to get “back on track” in that way.      9 books read in April 9 new books  •  0 rereads  •  0 DNF Pages read: 3,094   •   Average rating: 4.1 stars Sources: 7 for review, 1 gifted, 1 Book of the Month Formats:  [Review] 6 egalleys and 0 physical ARCs 1 hardcover, 1 paperback, 0 ebook, 0 audio, 1 combo Genres: 5 contemporary, 2 mystery/thriller, 1 graphic novel, 1 historical Age Target: 6 adult, 3 young adult, 0 middle grade, 0 new adult Check out my 2020 challenge sign-up […]

March was a bit off too still, which is okay. I’m going to give myself some grace during this time. I know I tend to read more when the weather is nice and I can go on the porch, so hopefully that turns out to be true this summer. We’re dealing with a lot right now and, as I discussed HERE, reading can be hard at times. I’m excited to begin the OWLS next month so I can be motivated to read more!      9 books read in March 8 new books  •  0 rereads  •  1 DNF Pages read: 3,102   •   Average rating: 3.7 stars Sources: 6 for review, 1 library book, 1 borrowed, 1 owned Formats:  [Review] 3 egalleys and 0 physical ARCs 0 hardcover, 0 paperbacks, 0 ebook, 0 audio, 6 combos Genres: 4 contemporary, 3 mystery/thriller, 1 fantasy, 1 paranormal Age Target: 4 adult, 5 young adult, 0 middle grade Check out my 2020 challenge sign-up post for more details, goals, etc.! This reading month was ROUGH for a few reasons. I obviously spent some good time reading THE KING OF CROWS and didn’t manage to finish a book before its release, so I was kind of behind from the get-go. I wasn’t ever in the mood to read and most books didn’t grab me after finishing KoC. I finally got through a few toward the end of the month but I’m definitely behind at this point. I always like to kick off the year strong and end the month ahead on my Goodreads goal! I usually manage to finish an entire book on January 1st when I’m chilling at home but this year that was not the case. Nonetheless, I still had a good reading month. December involved just enough reading to satisfy my Goodreads Challenge, as well as my Christmas-loving heart. I managed to finish 8 Christmas books (I started 2 more but DNFed them, unfortunately)! It was so nice to just get lost in the holiday feels over the month and not worry about the challenges I decided not to finish for the year.      All of the books from this month: Check out my 2019 challenge sign-up post for more details, goals, etc.!
