Blog Tour | Cover Colors: Ask Me How I Got Here

MORE LINKS: Indiebound | iBooks | The Book Depository Cover Colors I ended up doing two different book-based looks here. I couldn’t resist doing my usual one based on the cover of the book. She’s on the beach and it has that great red color. I chose a beachy look using those colors first. Outfit based on the cover Ask Me How I Got Here Beach by bookmarklit featuring John Robshaw Outfit based on the character Then, the main character runs cross-country in the story and decides to stop running after her experience. I’m not a runner by any means, but I knew I needed to make a cute running/workout outfit for her when I saw those SHOES. Loooove. (She references purple Sauconys in the book but I loved these too much!) Ask Me How I Got Here Run by bookmarklit featuring flower pattern shoes Mini Review I was so excited about Poisoned Apples last year and it truly didn’t disappoint. Clearly I can count on Christine Heppermann to write stories and poetry that appeal to my feminist soul. This story, written in verse, definitely did. Abbie is a cross country runner who gets a new boyfriend, gets pregnant, and decides to have an abortion. Pretty heavy stuff! Abortion is not a topic discussed often in general, let alone in a YA novel. I would love to see this told in a standard novel format instead of verse, but I think she did such a great job with it regardless. I never […]

Cover Colors: Meant to Be

It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with book covers. I love the colors, the typography, the different designs that cover artists can create. I even have a guest post feature where people share their favorite book covers and bookmarks! I decided to start up this random feature where I draw color inspiration from my favorite book covers. I may create an outfit, pick out some nail polish, or design a quote graphic. Today’s cover is… Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill This cover is so adorable and colorful – I had to keep the outfit really bright. Honestly I would probably wear this on Easter because of all the pastels! I love the necklace and how the backpack ties everything together. You definitely need a bag like this if you were trekking around London, as well as comfy flats instead of heels. Meant to Be by bookmarklit featuring pink tops What do you think? Perfect for this upcoming Easter weekend, no?

I may create an outfit, pick out some nail polish, or design a quote graphic. Today’s cover is… Arrows by Melissa Gorzelanczyk I love how simple this cover is! I’m a huge fan of ANYTHING with hearts involved. It’s a super cute cover and very representative of the book inside. The Cupid vibe is just perfect. I tried to capture that with my collage below. The shirt and skirt with the bow reminded me of the cuteness and color of the cover. I just kept picturing this big read heart-shaped bag, and I’m so glad I found such a gorgeous one. I also have some matching beauty products and a cute Cupid-y phone case! The jewelry features hearts and arrows. I decided to start up this random feature where I draw color inspiration from my favorite book covers. I may create an outfit, pick out some nail polish, or design a quote graphic. Today’s cover is… The Impostor Queen by Sarah Fine This cover has some cool bright red and peachy tones, mixed with black and very light blue. I usually don’t go ALL out with the makeup aspect, but her makeup on the cover is too pretty to ignore! I thought it would be fun to show some similar colors to the ones she’s wearing on her face. I chose a dress to match the “Queen” font and some black and light blue accessories. The Imposter Queen by bookmarklit featuring a holiday nail polish Mini Review I have been trying to get better about reading more fantasy books. I always say how it’s one of my favorite genres, but I find that over half of the books I read every year are contemporaries. It’s one of my major goals of 2016 to have a better distribution of book genres, and THE IMPOSTOR QUEEN was the first fantasy book I read this year! (Well, aside from finishing up my […]

I could never survive in Texas heat, so I tried to pick something I’d wear if I had to get dressed up down there. I picked a blue skirt along the same lines as the one on the cover, and had to represent the stars with some earrings!   Nowhere But Home by bookmarklit featuring stainless steel jewelry

Maas This cover is just beyond cool… and the book inside is even better. I wanted to use the purples and grays in a quote, but couldn’t resist the opportunity for a kickass outfit too! I chose a feathery black dress, like the one on the cover, and some red patent leather pumps for a pop of color.   A Court of Thorns and Roses by bookmarklit featuring cocktail dresses

Today’s cover is… Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson This cover doesn’t have a lot of colors, but it has some good earthy tones – plus those red heart sunglasses! Of course I had to feature those in my outfit. I chose a really simple, summery outfit with a tank top, jean shorts, and flip flops. I had to add in the little ice cream necklace too!   Since You’ve Been Gone by bookmarklit featuring denim shorts

I may create an outfit, pick out some nail polish, or design a quote graphic. Today’s cover is… To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han   Okay everyone knows this is one of my favorite covers of all time, so it’s pretty obvious why I chose this one – even though the colors are really simple! It’s easy to draw inspiration from this, though, because you can actually see some clothing items here. I love the pop of pink for the author name, so that’s the focal point of my outfit. I think most people don’t wear jean skirts like the one she’s wearing, so I updated mine with a flared out style. I chose a notebook for obvious reasons, some lipstick, and cute shoes. I’d totally wear this. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by bookmarklit featuring a high waisted flared skirt

I may create an outfit, pick out some nail polish, or design a quote graphic. Today’s cover is… The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord Ironically, my favorite thing about this cover is the gorgeous pink shade. It ended up being a little difficult to locate because it’s so specific, so I had to go with the rest of the colors for my outfit. Not only does this book have a gorgeous cover, it’s an AMAZING book. You can check out my review here! I would definitely wear this outfit (maybe not all together, if I’m being honest – because I HAVE to match everything I wear). It’s nice and spring-esque without trying too hard 😉 The Start of Me and You by bookmarklit featuring blue jeans
