Inside & Out #14: Chris, Mr. Bookmark Lit

Admiring book covers and bookmarks, shared by you! Welcome to INSIDE AND OUT. This feature includes two of my absolute favorite book-related things: bookmarks (inside) and book covers (out)! I’ve invited guest posters to share their favorite book covers and bookmarks here on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Sign-ups are always open (see bottom of post)! Check out past posts here. Chris, the wonderful boyfriend of Lauren from Bookmark Lit Instagram: @thebrickbuddy | Flickr: thebrickbuddy Tell me a little about yourself: I’m Chris and I’m a 23 year old old AFOL (adult fan of Lego). Lauren is my girlfriend and forced me to participate in this because someone bailed at the last minute. I like to read graphic novels set in the Marvel universe and build Lego in my spare time. I also like to play video games and watch football. Talk about your blog (what you blog about/kinds of books, features, etc.): I don’t have a blog at the moment, but I take pictures of my Lego creations on my Flickr and Instagram pages. I’ve been reading comics lately, mostly Marvel. I also listen to audiobooks at work sometimes and am in the process of rereading Harry Potter, the Series of Unfortunate Events, Captain Underpants, and a couple of Lego books. Favorite genre: I like fantasy, sci-fi, and superhero graphic novels. Three books you recommend most often and why:  Lego: A Love Story by Jonathan Bender because I think it gives good insight into the Lego hobby and is kind of a “coming of age tale” into […]

Anne from Lovely Literature Twitter: @amengelhart| Tumblr Tell me a little about yourself: I’m a 27-year old book nerd (and nerd in general) from the Twin Cities area in Minnesota. I’m obsessed with the Marvel universe (Winter Soldier, yessss), video games (Dragon Age!) and of course, books of all types. I read a mixture of YA and adult genre fiction. I also have two high-energy dogs and spend the rest of my time outdoors. Talk about your blog (what you blog about/kinds of books, features, etc.): My favorite genre is fantasy, and I do review a lot of fantasy books on Lovely Literature. However, contemporaries are quickly gaining traction on my shelves! I also do enjoy writing discussions and ask my readers for their bookish advice in my Readerly Advice posts. I also have a co-blogger named Ashley who reads pretty much opposite of me, although it is my greatest victory that I pushed Kushiel’s Dart on her and she loved it! Favorite genre: Definitely fantasy, but this summer I have been loving contemporaries! Three books you recommend most often and why:  Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey because it is a great […]

Talk about your blog (what you blog about/kinds of books, features, etc.): What Sarah Read just celebrated it’s one year anniversary back in May and I am so thrilled with how many friends and readers I have met along the way. You’ll find book reviews that are usually accompanied by fun mood boards, as well as special features highlighting my favorite books, weekly memes like Top Ten Tuesday, and my own original feature…Fangirl Friday. It’s a fun way to invite my bookish friends to the blog each week to have them fangirl about their favorite things. Favorite genre: Do I really have to choose? I love young adult contemporary AND fantasy. There are so many amazing books from each that I could never possibly choose. As long as a book has a lot of soul and […]

And yes I have a strong Boston accent. Oh and I’m a huge pusher of Anna and the French Kiss (Lauren will tell you! It was the first thing I made her do. <–truth) Talk about your blog (what you blog about/kinds of books, features, etc.): My blog is my baby. It consists of YA books for the most part. I review fantasy, contemporary, Sci-fi, dystopian, romance. I also have a weekly feature called The ABCs where a guest poster selects an accessory, book and clothing item they are lusting after and tells my readers why they want each. Check out past posts here. Lindsey from Bring My Books Twitter: @bringmybooks| Instagram: @bringmybooks| Snapchat: bringmybooks | Pinterest | Tumblr Tell me a little about yourself:  My name is Lindsey! What can I say? I’m just your average late 20s book nerd. 😉 Butttttt here are some other things I nerd out about: my cats, Neville & Luna; stegosauri (only the best dinosaur EVER); bouncy balls (I have over 400); old globes and thermoses (my favorite is my old classroom map of “Europe during the time of Napoleon – 1812”); the smell of honeysuckle and chili (but not together, eww); and any and all things summer and beachy! I grew up on the East Coast not 10 miles away from a beach, and now can’t imagine my life without water within easy driving distance. My mother started working at a bookstore when I was a teenager, and then I kinda “fell” into working at one myself in my early 20s. I’ve now been at that bookstore for almost 8 years this July, and I’m a manager! It’s been a crazy hectic few years, but I couldn’t imagine doing anything with my life that doesn’t involve books. (I […]

When I’m not reading, I can be found catching up on some of my favorite TV shows or watching hockey. I also like to sew and cross-stitch. I’m a huge fan of knick-knacks, and I probably buy way too many of them. I obsess over all things Disney, and I even have a small collection Disney movies, posters, and figurines. Talk about your blog (what you blog about/kinds of books, features, etc.): I review mostly YA on The Hardcover Lover, with most of the titles being contemporary or romance. Occasionally, and more often now than when I started blogging, I review YA science fiction, dystopia, and fantasy. I also review middle grade books and a few children’s books. I also host Soundtrack Saturday, a meme about creating playlists for your favorite books. I guess I’ll give you the basics for my life. 🙂 I’m 23. I began writing poetry when I was in middle school, which expanded to short stories in high school. I’m a Christian and went to Christian college for two years. I’ve had four blogs in the past, YA Indulgences being the only one to not quickly die out. 🙂 I figure it makes sense given the awesome community there is so I couldn’t just leave. For fun I like to listen to music, binge tv series, and go for walks. I’m also known to be quite quiet and sarcastic. If you can figure out how that works, let me know. 😉 Talk about your blog (what you blog about/kinds of books, features, etc.): My blog is primarily a Young Adult blog. I want to eventually bring in some adult books and classics as well every once in a while. My favorite genre of book within the YA umbrella are contemporary whether they be romances or books that deal with serious issues. […]

Rachel from Confessions of a Book Geek Twitter: @bookgeek90|| Facebook Tell me a little about yourself: I’m 25, a “business professional” (I think, I still feel like I’m 16 and an amateur half the time), and someone who loves to read and learn. I’m always studying something, or looking for the next course to do. I’m a cynical romantic (who knew they existed), and an introverted extrovert. Yea, I’m basically a walking contradiction. Talk about your blog (what you blog about/kinds of books, features, etc.): I started my blog to geek-out over the things I love, because no-one in my “real life” got it. I post reviews, giveaways, author interviews, book-shopping discount codes, everything and anything really. I have some regular (and some not-so-regular) features, including Top Ten Tuesday and Stacking the Shelves, and then there’s original features like: Babes and Books (three luscious ladies have rambling book related word-vomit) He Said She Said (myself and a male blogger, Joey (thoughtsandafterthoughts), throw a male and female perspective into the mix) The Book Geek Rants (a collection of my ranty discussion posts) Favorite genre:  Ohhh… This is tough, because I read everything. My most read genre is probably YA Contemporary. But that doesn’t mean it’s […]

Talk about your blog (what you blog about/kinds of books, features, etc.): I review mostly YA books on my blog, but lately I’ve been getting into some crossover-y adult books. Favorite genre:  Fantasy and then probably contemporary Three books you recommend most often and why:  Pretty much everything that Tamora Pierce has ever written, but if you have never read anything by her, I typically recommend starting with her Song of the Lioness series. She’s my all time favorite author because she’s written all of these amazing fantasy books with strong heroines, and I tend to reread a couple of her series once a year 🙂 The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer because it combines 4 retellings in such a unique way and all the […]
