Sometimes you just need to feel good about the number of books you’ve read and a book of any length will help. Overall, great average rating for books too. Average rating for books read in October: 4.21 stars Highlights of the best and worst… Best of the Best  |  Pleasantly Surprised  |  Disappointed  All of the books read this month: Average rating for books reviewed in October: 3.86 stars Secret Sister Project My Secret Sister is the BEST. This month, I had a Halloween/fall-themed package containing: a little mug with a sweater; Sliding Doors DVD (I’ve been wanting to see this ever since I saw it mentioned on Hannah’s blog!); stickers for my planner; sticky notes and cards; my favorite candies for the season (Reese’s pumpkins […]

I share my life happenings, book haul, books I read and reviewed, posts I shared, challenge updates, and more from the previous month. I also let you know what may be coming up on the blog in the coming month. You can read past bulletins here and learn more about the feature here. The Bookmark Lit Bulletin is a bit early this month! Why? Because I have so much shit already planned this week! AND, I have a special wrap-up post coming on July 1st because that’ll be the official halfway-through-the-year point. I have a Mid-Year Blogging Update planned, so the BL Bulletin will be missing some info this time around 😉June was just as crazy as May, folks. We had friends come visit one weekend, went to the drive-in movies, and went swimming at Chris’s parents house. This past weekend was more relaxing because we finally didn’t have ANY plans… BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY this month, we went to Chicago! (We actually went to Schaumberg, to be precise.) We went to Brickworld, which is one of the biggest Lego conventions in the world. We attended some panel discussions, presentations, set drafts, and a charity auction. We also displayed one of Chris’s creations amongst a huuuuge room of exhibitors. We spent a lot of time walking around and viewing all of the pieces, as well as a lot of money on Lego merch! We didn’t actually […]

I was jam-packed every weekend and the weeks went by so, so fast. I know I say this LITERALLY every month, but how is it already over?? I just pulled out my Erin Condren to double check what the heck happened because I already forgot. OKAY GO. The first weekend of May was a birthday party for Chris’s cousin’s son. (I think this is called first cousin once removed?) He turned three and he’s ridiculously cute, so that was a pretty fun time. His family loves to show up super late to parties though, and we’re getting pretty sick of it. The following weekend we decided to make a day trip up to Boston! We visited Quincy Market and Assembly Row (new Legoland Discovery Center!). We were disappointed that the Discovery Center is only for kids though. We were able to get into the store though… The next day was Mother’s Day, where we had to jet between three different events. I have to say, I’m always sad about being a child of divorce on holidays where […]

I’m definitely curious to see who the Panthers end up with this year. I think they could use more help on the offense, so I’m looking forward to a running back or another wide receiver. The first week of April brought my friends into town for Easter weekend as usual. It was a lot of fun to spend time with them. The following weekend, I made an impromptu trip to Boston for my friend’s birthday. We roamed around, went shopping, and had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. It was fun to see her and spend the day up there, but I was damn exhausted by the end of the day.  I went to Target randomly the following week and bought a Fitbit. I love tracking my steps, sleep, and calorie intake. It motivates me to go for walks and just keep track of what I’m eating a little more. I’m currently not someone who can exercise or run, so this is an easy way to stay active and try to get my steps in. My boyfriend and I […]

I guess the biggest recent development for me is the fact that I, as usual, became football-obsessed during free agency. I had to keep track of what all the teams were doing (and what my team was NOT doing, as usual). I had a pretty busy month overall. Chris and I took a day trip down to the southern part of the state to visit a different Lego store and an indie book store. I had a boring day at Jury Duty that led to me reading two books, which was pretty awesome. I went out to dinner for my dad’s birthday and my stepmom’s birthday; they’re unoriginal and both pick the same restaurant. We also went to a Lego event that took place up at Yankee Candle Village. I bought a lot of things I didn’t need and we participated in some Lego stuff that was meant for little kids. I went to my friend’s birthday party that consisted of galactic bowling, so that was fun! I love seeing her and spending time with my other friend that I don’t see […]

Bookmark Lit Bulletin – February 2015

The Bookmark Lit Bulletin is a monthly feature where I look back on everything I did and everything I plan to do next. I’ll also be updating my challenge progress here each month and linking up wherever I need to. This month’s bulletin is taking place of what would usually be a Five on Friday post. My life isn’t the most eventful, so it’d be overkill to have those posts two days in a row 😉  SNOW DAYS. So many snow days. I actually didn’t have a full week of work in February until this past week, between all of the snow days and the holiday. It was glorious. Working from home for me is a VERY loose term, which is nice… I spent a lot of time jerking around, watching TV, and reading. We did a good job of hanging out with some friends this month, which happens kind of rarely for us. We had my friend’s birthday trip to Foxwoods at the beginning of the month, a SuperBowl party with Chris’s friends, and a surprise party for another friend a week ago. It’s nice to get out of the apartment sometimes and see people other than each other. Valentine’s Day weekend was so much fun. Chris and I went to Providence that day, right as the snow was starting, to join up with another couple I went to college with. The four of us love hanging out and have a lot of fun together, so we figured we’d […]

The Bookmark Lit Bulletin is a monthly feature where I look back on everything I did and everything I plan to do next. I’ll also be updating my challenge progress here each month and linking up wherever I need to. Living in a fort for two weeks – As you may know from a previous post on here, Chris and I built a blanket fort in our living room. We figured we’d keep it up for about a week… and ended up living in it for two weeks. Honestly, we probably could have gone even longer, but we went skiiing one weekend and just had to sit on the couch afterwards. (Laying on the floor = not good for a sore body) Blizzard Juno – This week we had a bit of a blizzard. No big deal. I think our area got maybe a 15-20 inches of snow. I worked on Monday but it started snowing part of the way through the day, and luckily my boss said that we could work from home the next day. She’s pretty famous for making us come in during bad weather, even though most of our work can be done from home. Anyways, they ended up shutting down roads and not allowing people to drive anyway! The wind was even more intense than the snow, though! Luckily that meant that Chris’s car had snow surrounding it, but not a lot that needed to be cleared on the top. It only took us about 10 minutes […]
