Top Ten Tuesdays #321: Anticipated

Most Anticipated for Jan-Jun 2021 Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I definitely haven’t kept up with browsing Goodreads as much as usual so I’m definitely behind on adding upcoming books to my TBR – I feel like I don’t have a lot of books on there for 2021! I usually try to avoid putting books I already have as egalleys on these lists because how can I anticipate a book I already have and can read ASAP!? I’ll be doing a post later this week to highlight the 2021 releases I have review copies of as well. So for now, these are books I don’t have for review! January February March May June

Top Ten Tuesdays #320: Favorite Books

Favorite Books of 2020 Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. It’s certainly been a weird reading year for me – are you tired of me saying that yet? Probably. In any case, some real winners still made it on my favorites list. Here are the top ten books I read in 2020 (minus cookbooks that I rated five stars haha). 5 Stars 4.5 Stars I only rated six books five stars this year, but there are 17 books with 4.5 stars. I tried to parse it down a little to the 4.5 star books that were closest to five stars haha.

Top Ten Tuesdays #319: Books from Santa

Books I Hope Santa Brings Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I actually only asked for a couple of books for Christmas, so those are included below, but there are other books I hope to order in the new year with gift cards or cash. Essentially this is a list of books I hope to acquire soon with Christmas money… close enough to Santa, right? Top Ten Tuesdays #318: Winter TBR

Winter TBR (Jan-Mar) Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I still have some holiday/Christmas reads to finish off the year (winter technically begins December 21st) but I’m focusing on some of the books I plan to read ASAP in 2021. Here’s my winter TBR for the first three months of next year! Review Copies   There’s still a tiny chance I try to read A PHO LOVE STORY and SANDCASTLE BEACH in 2020 because as of writing this post, I need to read 10 more books for my reading challenge and only have 5 holiday books on deck. Those two are priority because I’m too excited for them! ACCIDENTALLY ENGAGED and THE MEET-CUTE PROJECT both sound wonderful as well – they publish in the first quarter of next year too. New Jan-Mar Releases I read my first book by Solomon this year (of the YA variety) and loved it – I really need to dive into her others. THE EX TALK comes out in January and is right up my alley. I also have adored books by Sandhya Menon, so her first full length novel as Lily Menon (of the adult variety), MAKE UP BREAK UP, will be on my list […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #317: Holiday

Top Ten Tuesdays #317: Holiday

Holiday Freebie: Favorite Holiday Books Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I’m not going to lie – I’m behind on my holiday reading this year. I usually have completed a lot more. Then again, I’ve usually completed a lot more books in general at this point in the year! Covid 2020 has kicked my reading ass. Can I blame it on Covid or is it mostly because of my attention-seeking puppy? In any case, I thought it would be beneficial to use this holiday freebie to just share my favorite holiday books in general. These ones are the best of the best for me from years past. For further recs or my general TBR, check this Goodreads shelf I have. I tried to keep it to one book per series (for example, Annie Rains, Miranda Liasson, and RaeAnne Thayne have multiple books in these series with holiday themes that I loved). Jenny Hale is one of my favorite Christmas authors so I kept my two favorites by her on the list. Others are fun YA reads or cozy adult contemporary holiday books. Enjoy!

Top Ten Tuesdays #316: To Reread

Top Ten Tuesdays #316: To Reread

Books I Want to Read Again Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I’ve talked a lot on my blog about rereading books – I don’t do it very often. I have a Goodreads shelf called “reread someday” where I store books I think I may reread at some point down the line. This list really doesn’t see a lot of action… I haven’t reread a single book in 2020, if memory serves. Insane. In any case, here are the most recent books I added to my “reread someday” shelf! This list below stretches back as far as 2018 because I’ve only added two books from 2020 onto this list.

Top Ten Tuesdays #315: Thanksgiving Freebie

Top Ten Tuesdays #315: Thanksgiving Freebie

Thanksgiving Freebie: Books I’m Thankful For in the Shitty Year of 2020 Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. My 2020 has been quite garbage like most people, with the notable exception of acquiring the cutest puppy in the world. My reading has even been garbage. I’ve never reduced my reading challenge before but I’m down to 100 instead of 120. Quite a change for me! And even then, I’m still around 10 books behind. Every time I read a book I straight-up couldn’t put down OR reignited my love for reading (even for a brief moment!), I was extremely grateful and made sure to yell about that fact in my review. Here are ten books I’m grateful for this year – either because I cranked through them and they really helped me, or because they became new favorites. Quick Reads Date Me, Bryson Keller: “Oh man, this book was EXACTLY what I needed. I’d been struggling with reading during quarantine (and honestly was behind on my challenge BEFORE too) so Chris suggested I take a break from the book that was taking me forever and putting me in a slump, and read something quick and fun. I was able to sit down […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #314: Pet Names

Characters I’d Name a Pet After Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I’m really picky about dog names – it took us forever to think of names and we got so lucky that Miller was available… that was the one name out of the 12 puppy litter that had a name we really liked! It was easy to keep his name and deal with picking out a dog name in a later year when we get another haha. I’ve always wanted to name a dog Noodle but Chris wasn’t as into it. I’ll get my way someday! Olive /// Pepper /// Gemma I’m a big fan of food names for dogs, hence my love for Noodle as a dog name, but Olive and Pepper would make great dog names. My mom had a dog when she was younger named Pepper actually. I’m not sure I’d actually name a dog Gemma, but I love this book too much to not think of a character name that’d work for a child or dog someday haha.   Jude /// Wyatt /// Avery /// Pinky Jude because obviously. Wyatt is actually a child’s name in the second book here but it was on our list […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #313: Song Titles

Book Titles as Song Titles Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. This is a fun one! I thought it would be nice to highlight a few upcoming releases that I want to read in 2021. Honestly, song titles are so all over the place that almost anything works!

Top Ten Tuesdays #312: Non-Bookish Hobbies

Top Ten Tuesdays #312: Non-Bookish Hobbies

Non-Bookish Hobbies Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I always had trouble doing icebreakers in school because I never really felt like I had hobbies. I’d always say “reading” or “hanging out with friends” because honestly, that summed it up! I never stuck with sports or other activities through school or on my free time. This has totally changed in adulthood. It helps to have Chris around to do things with. We’ve started a ton of hobbies together and try to fill up our non-working hours with activities. Wrestling Chris and I used to spend the majority of our days watching wrestling! We’d watch RAW on Monday, Smackdown on Tuesday (we didn’t really watch anymore once it moved to Friday), NXT and eventually AEW on Wednesday, any New Japan shows, plus the PPVs for each company on weekends each month. We’ve cut back and watch virtually zero WWE these days because things are terrible, but we still keep up with New Japan and watch AEW each week religiously. We’ve attended a lot of wrestling shows over the last few years too (here’s our first year journey in wrestling fandom). Hanging out with Miller and bringing him everywhere We said if we […]
