Top Ten Tuesdays #433: Winter TBR

Winter TBR (EOY – Feb) Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. We’re right around the middle of December and I know winter “starts” in a week or two, but I fully agree with anyone who thinks winter begins on December 1st. I’ve been working through holiday stories this month and will definitely bang out as many as possible before the end of the month! This TBR will feature some books I hope to get to for the rest of December as well as early next year (January and February). Already Released Publishing Soon Review Copies

Top Ten Tuesdays #432: Holiday Covers

Freebie: Favorite Recent Holiday Book Covers Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. A freebie usually means a cover-related post from Bookmark Lit! In the spirit of the holiday season (which I am doing a terrible job of keeping up with so far this year…), I thought I would share some of my favorite holiday book covers that have been released recently.

Top Ten Tuesdays #431: CT Setting

Setting Freebie: Favorite Books Set in Connecticut Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I live in Connecticut and grew up here (minus one year in Maine and four years for college in Rhode Island) so any book set in Connecticut is going to make it on my TBR! It’s not the most common book setting unless the author has some ties to the area. I decided I would share my ten favorite books or series set in my home state.

Top Ten Tuesdays #430: Popular Authors

Top Ten Tuesdays #430: Popular Authors

Mainstream/Popular Authors I Haven’t Read Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I’m going to use this to discuss mainstream and bestselling authors who are clearly popular, but also some of the more “super hyped on booktube and booktok” authors as well. I know that’s less “mainstream” but usually these authors gain a ton of popularity and the hype becomes super intense. R.F. Kuang / I’ve said this before but her books intimidate me a bit! Between BABEL’s length and YELLOWFACE’s hard-hitting topic, I just have not plucked up the courage to read her books yet. Mona Awad / She’s another one on that list of books/authors who scare me. I know BUNNY is a mindfuck and I’m super curious to read it, but her books seem complicated lol. Stephen King / I promise I won’t spend the whole TTT referencing the same blog post but Stephen King is another intimidating, major bestselling author. I’m not a huge horror reader so a lot of his books aren’t on my list, but I would love to read a few (FAIRY TALE, BILLY SUMMERS, and 11/22/63).   Simone St. James, Ruth Ware, Shari Lapenia, and Alex Finlay / There are a ton of super popular, bestselling mystery/thriller authors […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #429: Newspaper Headlines

Book Titles that Would Make Good Headlines Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I really didn’t know what to do for this one at first but it was really fun to track them down! I decided to approach this as good headlines in general: whether for a newspaper or for magazine articles. I focused first on unreleased and upcoming books that are on my TBR. Newspaper Headlines I thought all of these ones would make for classic newspaper articles. FINLAY DONOVAN ROLLS THE DICE could probably be a magazine article too but it seemed like it would be more of a headline. THE NIGHT OF THE STORM could detail a recent natural disaster. THE DISAPPEARNACE OF ASTRID BRICARD and THE REAPPEARANCE OF RACHEL PRICE are both potential articles and headlines where someone goes missing or returns from being missing. Magazine Article Titles Magazine articles could consist of “how to” lists and discussions as well as opinion pieces. HOW TO SOLVE YOUR MURDER could even be a satire. THE PERFECT GUY DOESN’T EXIST seems like it could be a Cosmo article. RED STRING THEORY would be instructional – teaching the reader specifically about this theory as it relates to life and love. Top Ten Tuesdays #428: Halloween

Halloween Freebie: October Reads Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I know that today is the final day of October, but I had planned to read some spooky / atmospheric books this month for Halloween. I ended up not reading as much as I expected but thought I would share some of the books I DID manage to read, as well as those on my TBR that I would have liked to read this month. Read – Great for October I read THE NATURALS and ONCE UPON A BROKEN HEART (the full series of each!) this past month. Both were nice books to read in October. The latter is obviously a fantasy series, which I always think is great for the fall. THE NATURALS follows teens who work for the FBI – it got really dark as they chased down serial killers! IN NIGHTFALL is a vampire book that I really enjoyed this summer. It’s perfect for spooky season. DAISY DARKER is another great one for October – I won’t say why, but I can say that it’s super atmospheric and (if I remember correctly) it takes place on Halloween. And finally, for a non-spooky option, I’m reading THE PUMPKIN SPICE […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #427: Atmospheric Books

Atmospheric Books Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I’ve been lazy with TTT lately but this topic inspired me! The person who suggested this topic for TTT defined atmospheric reads in their own way, but my definition is just “books where I really FEEL like I’m there and understand the super distinct, fleshed out setting/vibes.” Here are some books that hit that mark for me.

Top Ten Tuesdays #426: Reading Goals

Reading Goal Progress Before EOY Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I always write a post discussing my reading goals for the year so it’s fun to reflect back on that list now that we’re heading into the final quarter of the year! I also wrote recently about how I hope to finish up my reading challenges in the end of the year and certain books or series I hope to read. 2023 Goal Check-In Stay on track or ahead of my Goodreads challenge Knocked this one out of the park. I finished my Goodreads challenge of 80 books in August. I’ve had a renewed sense of energy for reading this year! It’s been lovely. It also takes a little pressure off for the final months of the year. I’m reading some bigger books, fantasy books, and others that I would usually put off because they’d take me too long to read. Keep up Instagram stories about current and completed reads I’ve also kept up with my Instagram reviews! I love sharing monthly TBR plans, wrap-ups, reviews, midpoint check-ins, and more. I’m very pleased with this. Read 1-3 owned (physical) books per month Okay I had to track this down. 1-3 […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #425: Fall TBR

Fall TBR Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. You all know I love a TBR post! I posted an Instagram story with a big Fall TBR based on someone’s template but thought I’d expand upon it here. I’m going to focus on the books I plan to read through the end of September (some of these are my current reads or maybe just finished), as well as October and November. I usually get into holiday books in November but I’m going to keep them off here until I plan that specific TBR later. Top Ten Tuesdays #424: Character Relationships

Favorite Character Relationships Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. As usual, my Goodreads shelves will come in handy here! I have a lot of customized shelves to track favorite elements or tropes from books. I think “favorite character relationships” can be taken a lot of directions so I’ll use a few of my shelves to show some recent favorites with (1) strong friendship vibes or major squad goals, (2) big time family feels, and (3) new favorite ships!
