WWW Wednesdays #10

I received Trial By Fire in the form of a physical ARC from the publisher and have been reading it in between all of my other reading committments. I am definitely enjoying it and wish I could devote all of my time to it, but it hasn’t been possible given the ARC tour scheduling and the reading I need to finish for a guest post (stay tuned!). Just Like Fate is great so far! I’ve been absolutely cranking through it because it’s so good (and because I need to finish reading it before Friday :)). My current audiobook is Big Little Lies, which is interesting so far. I’m not very far along yet but its nice to throw in some adult fiction every once in a while…especially because I love Liane Moriarty. Well I’ve been making up for lost time, finally! I finished Second Chance Summer, which completely exceeded my expectations. I received Damsel Distressed from On the Same Page ARC Tours and had to make sure I finished it within the week. I really liked it, but it was definitely darker than I expected. That Summer, once I realized it was in my library’s audiobook files, was an impromptu choice. I was a little disappointed in it because not much happened plot-wise and  the characters were too selfish. Again, thanks to On the Same Page ARC Tours, I will be starting Famous in Love as soon as it arrives on my doorstep! I’m excited to have the ability to read […]

Cover Love

Cover Love

As everyone knows by now, I love book covers. Pretty ones with gorgeous typography, scenery, colors, and overall design are my favorites. I made a Goodreads shelf called “Cover Love” for this reason! I’m a firm believer in judging a book by its cover; the cover should successfully convey the book’s story and grab the reader’s attention. If covers didn’t matter, they wouldn’t have such unique designs! Without further ado, here’s a compilation of all 64 covers currently on my Cover Love shelf (in no particular order)!

I’m still working on Second Chance Summer by Morgan Maston. It’s a long book that I’m really enjoying, but I just haven’t had enough time to read. I’m about 2/3 of the way through. I am definitely planning on finishing by the weekend! This book is really great so far. I absolutely love the characters, learning about their lives, and seeing Taylor get back into her routine with friends and family. I do have a feeling it’s going to make me cry, though…  I am not sure what audiobook I’m going to work on next, because I just finished Breathe, Annie, Breathe by Miranda Kenneally literally twenty minutes ago. So as of right now, I’m not listening to anything! Since last week, I’ve only finished two audiobooks. The only time I’ve really been able to “read” is while getting ready in the morning or driving to work. I loved both of these ones! I highly recommend them. Open Road Summer was a great debut from Emery Lord. Breathe, Annie, Breathe was a book I wasn’t really interested in reading when I saw it come out. Everyone had written glowing reviews and saw it on sale on Audible, so I decided to give it a shot. So, so glad I did! I have two ARCs I need to get done ASAP! I’m a part of the Damsel Distressed (by Kelsey Macke) ARC tour, so I have a week to read it once I receive it. It should be arriving today or tomorrow […]

Bookmark Lit Bulletin: Mid-September 2014

Hello friends! It’s time for September’s first Bookmark Lit Bulletin. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – the first half of this month has been absolutely crazy for me. It consisted of a lot of packing, moving into our new apartment, my birthday, and my college alumni weekend (check out my personal post from my birthday with some more details!). Without further ado, here’s what I’ve been up to and where I’m headed next! I wish I could say I read a lot during this month. August was INSANE book-wise for me; I read 20 books – this is definitely a record! Many thanks to Bout of Books for really getting me going. I definitely enjoyed most of them, with a few exceptions. The first half of September has involved very little reading. I finished a few books immediately at the beginning of the month, but lately I’ve had a bit of a rut. I just haven’t had a lot of time to read. I also think I’ve been reading too many contemporaries; I need to switch my genre up soon so I can have something a little different. I’ve posted seven reviews so far this month. On a personal note, as I said earlier, lots of personal updates this month! I turned 23 on the 9th and had a good time celebrating with my boyfriend and friends. My celebrations will continue into the weekend as I head back to my alma mater for a couple of days. […]

What books are you currently desperate to get your hands on?  Loop by Karen Atkins | Release Date: October 21st 2014 At a school where Quantum Paradox 101 is a required course and history field trips are literal, sixteen year-old time traveler Bree Bennis excels…at screwing up. After Bree botches a solo midterm to the 21st century by accidentally taking a boy hostage (a teensy snafu), she stands to lose her scholarship. But when Bree sneaks back to talk the kid into keeping his yap shut, she doesn’t go back far enough. The boy, Finn, now three years older and hot as a solar flare, is convinced he’s in love with Bree, or rather, a future version of her that doesn’t think he’s a complete pain in the arse. To make matters worse, she inadvertently transports him back to the 23rd century with her. Once home, Bree discovers that a recent rash of accidents at her school are anything but accidental. Someone is attacking time travelers. As Bree and her temporal tagalong uncover seemingly unconnected clues—a broken bracelet, a missing data file, the art heist of the millennium—that lead to the person responsible, she alone has the knowledge to piece the puzzle together. Knowledge only one other person has. Her future self. But when those closest to her become the next victims, Bree realizes the attacker is willing to do anything to stop her. In the past, present, or future. I have read ONE time travel book and I’m so obsessed […]

I slacked on my usual memes this week because of moving on Monday and my birthday yesterday. My participation in memes most likely won’t happen on a regular weekly basis anymore now that I’m comfortable with developing some other features. If the topic stands out to me and I have a good response for it, I’ll definitely participate! Without further ado… The books are both for my Goodbye Summer Readathon (and also cheating by having them be a part of Swoony September). I can tell that Second Chance Summer is going to be heavier read, but I’m looking forward to the fact that it will be a more family-oriented book than a romance one. I’m almost done with Open Road Summer and am really excited to see how it ends. I love the characters in this book. Since last Wednesday, I finished two books. It feels weird because this is the least I’ve read since before August. This past week has been ridiculously busy and there are no signs that it’s going to slow down. I liked Five Summers but it wasn’t as good as I expected. I loved Twenty Boy Summer! It was a perfect blend of heavy and light contemporary topics.   I bought this one a long time ago and it’s been sitting on my Kindle for a while. Effortless with You has almost a four star rating on Goodreads so I’m hoping for the best! I currently don’t have any audiobooks lined up next; I’m waiting to see if anything […]

A-Z Bookish Survey

Happy Sunday! I moved into my new apartment yesterday and just got the wi-fi set up this afternoon. Luckily I already had my post scheduled for yesterday 🙂  We’ve been slowly unpacking but also just trying to relax and enjoy the first real football Sunday!! I came across this A-Z Bookish Survey over at Under Review, and it was originally created over at Perpetual Page-Turner. Author you’ve read the most books from: Cecily von Ziegesar: I’ve read all of her books aside from Cum Laude. This is the Gossip Girl, It Girl, and Gossip Girl: The Caryles series. Best Sequel Ever: Hmmm that’s tough. I think the best recent sequel I’ve read is Hereafter in the Shadowlands trilogy by Kate Brian. That whole trilogy blew me away and the second book was my favorite of the three, I think. [review] Currently Reading: Currently reading Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler and currently listening to Open Road Summer by Emery Lord. Drink of Choice While Reading: Coffee! E-reader or Physical Book? I alternate between both! E-readers are more convenient for a lot of reasons: immediately having access to a new book once you finish one, carrying it around with you easily, not having to hold open pages, etc.. but you can’t beat the feeling or smell of a real book. Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School: Oh goodness. I think I would have liked Josh from Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins. He […]

The books are both for my Goodbye Summer Readathon (and also cheating by having them be a part of Swoony September). I am currently working on Five Summers by Una LaMarche. So far, so good; I’m about halfway through. The book switches between the four girls’ points of view AND also goes back to their POVs during past summers at camp. With all the switching between characters and moments in time, you’d think it would be confusing. It’s actually pulled off pretty well. I like 3 out of the 4 main characters at this point – Skylar is pissing me off. I just finished my previous audiobook this morning and haven’t technically started Open Road Summer by Emory Lord yet, but I’ll be starting it this afternoon once I leave work! I’ve been looking forward to this one for a longgg time.           Since last Wednesday, I FINALLY finished The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton (review this week; spoiler: very much disliked) on audiobook. I just finished The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider this morning; I really enjoyed it and loved the narrator’s voice. The review will come early next week. Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway was good but didn’t blow me away (review). Since Last Summer by Joanna Philbin was somewhat disappointing because the first one was much better. This one was too predictable and had some annoying elements (review soon). Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler has been on […]

Swoony September

Hello all! I’m here to announce I’ve lost my mind and am joining another challenge. Check out The Bookaholic Blurbs for more details! It’s basically a challenge to read some swoon-worthy contemporary romances for September. This is my favorite genre, so what better time to do this challenge — during my favorite month (which also happens to be my birthday month)! 🙂 Here’s my TBR for the challenge. The books towards the top of the TBR are technically also in my Goodbye Summer Readathon, so I’ll be carrying the swoony summery books for the first half of the month and finishing them after my other readathon is over, if I don’t get to them in time. I should be able to read the whole list by the end of the month while hopefully being able to throw in some other genres in between.  Mid-Month Update Finished Five Summers Twenty Boy Summer Open Road Summer Currently reading Second Chance Summer Up Next Effortless With You [Full update post here] End of Month Update Finished Five Summers Twenty Boy Summer Open Road Summer Second Chance Summer

What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard I want this book SO BAD. It isn’t released until next year but so many people have the ARCs already and I’m dying to get one, too. Here’s a little funny story about this book and the author. I’m from a small town in Connecticut that is on the Massachusetts border. When I went to college, I became really good friends with a guy from the town in Mass that my town borders. Flash forward four years, we’re still friends and meet up at a local bar. Him and his friend tell me all about how one of their good friends from high school has a book coming out. Victoria Aveyard! This was the first time I heard of her and the plot of the book sounded RIGHT up my alley. Small world, huh? So in other words, Victoria Aveyard is actually a FRIEND OF A FRIEND who grew up in the town NEXT to mine! Now, do I use my connections to see about getting an ARC? The only thing is, my friend from college doesn’t know about my blog and I’m not sure I want him to. So, I don’t really have a good way of contacting the author unless I decide to tell my friend and then talk to her. IDK BUT I NEED THIS BOOK!
