Books to Reread in 2017

Books to Reread in 2017

I always have grand plans to reread ALL THE BOOKS but it almost never happens. The only reason I had a decent amount in 2016 is because I binge-listened to A Series of Unfortunate Events, reread the first two books in the Secrets of my Hollywood Life series (each book in one day, because they’re so short and easy!), finished my Harry Potter reread with book seven, and reread Before I Fall for book club. So, in other words, there were a lot of easy audios and quick 200-page books! I mentioned in my 2017 Resolutions post that I plan to restart my Nostalgia Project by rereading and finishing off old series, as well as rereading more in general. I’m not sure what I’ll complete for that project but I know I’d like to reread some of these old favorites in 2017. Here’s my reread TBR! I’ll always fondly remember reading Anna and the French Kiss – and the two companions, Lola and the Boy Next Door and Isla and the Happily Ever After – because it was a part of the first blogging event I actually participated in, and brought me to some of my FAVORITE people. These books were such quick reads and incredibly adorable. I read all of them within three weeks the first time, but I’d love to read them back-to-back-to-back at some point in 2017. I started rereading Sarah Dessen books over the past two years, but kept saving some of my all-time favorites for […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #122: 2017 Debuts

Top Ten 2017 Debuts I’m Excited For Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I have to be honest and say I do a terrible job about keeping up with debut authors vs. the authors putting out their sophomore novel vs. the people who have a million books out. I can only keep track of my favorite authors in my brain apparently. Because of this, I joined in with the 2016 Debut Author Challenge last year. It was fun to keep track of how many debuts I read… especially because I almost never intentionally read them because they were debuts! Jana creates a Google spreadsheet to keep track of the debuts for the challenge participants, so I decided to take a peek at her list to form the TTT. You’ll see that some of these books have definitely been featured on my blog before, while the majority of them haven’t been talked about yet. I’m trying to include less contemporary fiction than usual too; I’ve noticed a trend for these where quite a few are mystery/thrillers. In any case, here are 10 books by 2017 debut authors that I’m looking forward to reading! Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index by Julie Israel | I don’t know what to say about this one that I haven’t […]

Bookmark Lit Bulletin | December 2016

The Bookmark Lit Bulletin was created to wrap up each month and prepare for the next. I share my book haul, books I read and reviewed, posts I shared, challenge updates, and more from the previous month. I also let you know what may be coming up on the blog in the coming month. You can read past bulletins here. I recently split out my personal posts into the Lauren Lately feature, so this is a bit shorter! Of course I can’t sit here and ignore December’s highlights, just to share alllll of 2016 instead. December is one of my favorite months – and usually most hectic – so I wanted to still complete my standard Bookmark Lit Bulletin post to wrap-up December. My reading life was good. I did a lot of reading in December because (a) I wanted to finish my challenge, (b) I wanted to read holiday books, and (c) many books arrived from the library. I spent a lot of time reading and wanting to read for once, so that’s a good sign for next year I think! Average rating for books read in December: 3.5 stars Highlights & Lowlights All of the books read this month: Year-Long Seasonal Winter Bingo Challenge Not YA Winter Street – Elin Hilderbrand Alternative format Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless – Liz Czukas White cover Winter Stroll – Elin Hilderbrand Nature on cover Snow Like Ashes – Sarah Raasch Set abroad The Night Circus – Erin Morgenstern Romance Season of Second Chances – Brighton […]

Bout of Books 18

Goals, TBR, Progress/Tracking, Challenges, and Wrap-Up Bout of Books is here again! I make it a point to participate every time because I do find a little burst of motivation during these weeks. I love the January session because I aim to get ahead on my reading challenge for the year! There’s no better feeling than reading a little too much in January so you can be (relatively) stress-free for the rest of the year. That’s usually my mindset, anyways! This post exists to track progress, participate in some challenges, and wrap-up my week when its all said and done. More information on the read-a-thon if you’ve never heard of it… The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 2nd and runs through Sunday, January 8th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 18 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team Goals As I mentioned, my most basic goal is getting ahead on my reading challenge. Kicking off 2017 with that little Goodreads widget telling me I’m ahead just feels so good! I want to read 3 books a week this year to get myself to 150. Depending on what I choose to read, I want to read between […]
