Goals, TBR, Progress/Tracking, Challenges, and Wrap-Up

Bout of Books 18Bout of Books is here again! I make it a point to participate every time because I do find a little burst of motivation during these weeks. I love the January session because I aim to get ahead on my reading challenge for the year! There’s no better feeling than reading a little too much in January so you can be (relatively) stress-free for the rest of the year. That’s usually my mindset, anyways! This post exists to track progress, participate in some challenges, and wrap-up my week when its all said and done.

More information on the read-a-thon if you’ve never heard of it…

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 2nd and runs through Sunday, January 8th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 18 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

Goals

As I mentioned, my most basic goal is getting ahead on my reading challenge. Kicking off 2017 with that little Goodreads widget telling me I’m ahead just feels so good! I want to read 3 books a week this year to get myself to 150. Depending on what I choose to read, I want to read between 3-5 books this week. I say this range because I’m thinking about reading the Pottermore Presents novellas during Bout of Books. I’d like to read three books if they end up being full-length novels. I’d like to read five books if a few of them are novella-length, like the Pottermore Presents books.

Wrap-Up

I’m feeling pretty good about my Bout of Books reading! I was really hoping to read 5 books, since 3 of them were novellas, but 4 is pretty damn close. The Harry Potter books were incredibly interesting and quick reads. Geekerella managed to grab me on Sunday night and didn’t let me go until it was 12 AM and I had finally finished. I wish I could have finished off The Secret of a Heart Note but I got surprisingly little reading done on Saturday, even when I was home ALL DAY doing pretty much nothing because of the snow. Regardless, I’ll pat myself on the back for this readathon.
