Books on My Winter 2024-2025 to-Read List
Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review.
As usual, I could go a month and a half without posting a TTT and then there’s a TBR-related one… I’m back! I’m going to include the books I plan to finish my year with as of right now (writing this post 12/16), as well as January and February titles. There’s something about a new year that juices me up for reading again!
EOY 2024
I’m currently reading THE MOST WONDERFUL CRIME OF THE YEAR and will finish before book club tonight (whoops). I’m halfway through A WINTER WISH and unfortunately my Libby book got sent back to the library when I turned off airplane mode lol it was on sale so I bought a physical copy and it arrives tonight so I can finish soon. THE HOLIDAY HONEYMOON SWITCH is probably? my final holiday full-length book for the year – also a Libby one waiting on my Kindle. I think I’ll actually end the year on THE SONGBIRD OF THE HEART AND STONE because it’s a fantasy that I can take my time with, once my holiday reading is done.
These are the final three short stories in the Mistletoe collection from Amazon. I read the first two last week and had mixed results, but I’m determined to read all of these around or before Christmas. I haven’t read from any of these authors before so hopefully I can see how I feel about their writing as well.
My Goodreads challenge is 100 books and I’ve read 95, so I could basically finish the novellas above plus the two books I’m currently reading and be done for the year. However, I do think I have plenty of time to read more books. I have a weird thing where I would not enjoy finishing with 102 books and would prefer to read 105, so the three books above are bonus books I might read depending on how the next couple of weeks go. ALL I WANT IS YOU and MOST WONDERFUL are two holiday books I currently have from the library and BOTM. I also preordered the new Half Baked Harvest cookbook, so that could be read this month.
January
The first book I read to start the year is super important to me, so I’ve decided to read my egalley of SAY YOU’LL REMEMBER ME even though it comes out in April. I just can’t wait much longer for a new Abby book, I’m sorry. I’m on a blog tour for TEMPLE OF SWOON and hope to read it early in the month too. As always, the next Wayward Children book is on my January TBR for a quick audiobook to start the year on the right foot.
BEG, BORROW, OR STEAL is one of my highly anticipated reads for the year since I absolutely loved Adams other two books in this series. My sister and I are heading to her event in Maine for this release! I already have BEAUTIFUL UGLY early from BOTM and my mom is reading it right now, so I think I’ll get to it in January. And finally, yes, I will continue my hate-read with ONYX STORM. It’s preordered and everything…
February
For February, I focused on mostly upcoming releases for this TBR. There are plenty of backlist titles that I’ve been putting off for a while and will hopefully get to next year as well. GAMES UNTOLD came out in November but I haven’t really been in the mood for it, so I will probably try for it in February. I have UNDER THE SAME STARS preordered because omg new Libba Bray(!!!) and a review copy of YIN YANG LOVE STORY that I know I’ll read right before/around the pub date.
I obviously have the next Emily Wilde book preordered, which comes out in February. A couple of my other favorite authors have books in February that I know I’ll either buy or request from the library – THE MEADOWBROOK MUDERS and CAUGHT UP IN YOU are must-reads for early next year.
