August TBR

My monthly TBR feature here shows my progress based on last month’s TBR, my plans for this month, and anything else I might be thinking about from a reading perspective. Sometimes I feature a little poll at the bottom so you guys can help me figure out a certain title I should read from a group of books.

August TBR

July was brutal. I managed to get on track and then immediately fell off the rails again. I know part of it was because I had a weekend away for a bachelorette, but I did manage to finish my audiobook during the drive. My biggest issue is that I wasn’t really reading any books at night on my Kindle. I just was never in the mood to pick it up and DNFed one I was reading.

Review Copies

I did a horrible job of reading on my Kindle in July like I said, so there are a ton of overdue review copies, along with upcoming ones I want to read soon. Here’s just a big list of recent and upcoming egalleys I have to read!

August Releases

There are a few big August releases and I guarantee I’ll be reading at least two of them, but definitely the Karin Slaughter. I loved the first book and have been eagerly anticipating the follow-up. I also really enjoyed Riley Sager’s book last summer (no one else did lol) so I’m excited to keep going with his new releases. I was not really expecting BIG LITTLE LIES to get a sequel but I will certainly read it when it comes out, or next month.

Series Binge

I actually skipped Emma in June and July, which was probably the right choice. I think I needed a break. Maybe I’ll feel revived in August and want to bang out a book or two but unfortunately I do have a lot of review copies I should be reading on my Kindle. My goal is definitely to finish these by the end of the year, ideally early fall.

Library Books/Holds

I have holds on Libby for THE MASH UP and UNGODLY RICH because both sound great. I randomly grabbed THE CHOWDER HOUSE MURDER from the library when I popped in recently (it’s a cozy mystery in Maine, why wouldn’t I want to!) that is going to be overdue soon lol.

Book Club

July’s book club was for a book I read months ago so this section didn’t exist last month. Our August selection is HOW TO SOLVE YOUR OWN MURDER, which is really exciting for me – I bought this a long time ago and this is the perfect excuse to read it.
