Library Love | January 2022

My last post in this series was February 2021! It’s funny because out of the books I featured in that post, I ended up reading the majority of them in other formats instead from the library lol. I’ll admit that I’m not always the best at reading library books before they need to get returned. I’m hoping to be better about that this year! Here are the latest books I currently have checked out and those on hold. DAISY DARKER by Alice Feeney | I kept mixing this title up with ONE OF THE GIRLS (which I read/finished on my honeymoon last year), so I was thinking I had a review copy of it. Nope. My mom read it recently and pushed me to get to it sooner rather than later! I went in to pick up a library hold and spotted it on the shelf. I’ve never read Alice Feeney, which seems a bit crazy because every booktuber I watch likes her books. EMILY WILDE’S ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF FAERIES by Heather Fawcett | This is the book I was heading in to pick up when I spotted the previous book on my list. I saw a booktuber post about it as an anticipated release and knew I needed it in my life. Maybe it’s an unpopular opinion, but faerie-related fantasy books are my favorite. I’ve been fascinated by faeries since I was a kid. Anyways, hoping this one lives up to my own hype! TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW by Gabrielle […]

Library Love | February 2021

I created this Library Love series on my blog so I could share current checkouts from the library as well as some of the books I have on hold, hopefully coming into my greedy hands as soon as possible. I thought it would be fun to bring it back around since it’s been so long! I currently have THE COUSINS and VANESSA YU’S MAGICAL TEA SHOP checked out. I read the first one already and haven’t returned it yet lol but the latter is still on my TBR! I’m hoping to get to it very soon. I have a super small town library so the VAST majority of these books are requested through interlibrary loan. That’s why so many are a certain position out of a large number of books. Even when I’m hold #3 on 6 books, for example, I still usually have a while to wait for whatever reason. Here are the books in my queue! A VOW SO BOLD AND DEADLY by Brigid Kemmerer January 2021 – Hold #3 on 6 copies The first two books here have been on hold the longest. I’ve really enjoyed the Cursebreakers series so far and am really excited to read the final book. I’m annoying in that I prefer to own all the books or none of the books (sometimes I’ll buy an ebook depending on price), so I’ve decided to just get this installment from the library. ACROSS THE GREEN GRASS FIELDS by Seanan McGuire January 2021 – Hold #1 on […]

Library Love | January

I’ve been wanting to share some library hauls on the blog, since I don’t include them in my monthly wrap-ups. I go through phases where I use the library A LOT and phases where I forget it exists somehow. Whenever the mood strikes, I’ll share what I’m working on from the library during any given month. I’ve been using the ebook section of my new library quite a bit, but I got motivated to get some physical copies this month as well. Whenever I have a robust hold list and a few books checked out, I know it’s enough to share here. Here we go! Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire | I read the first book a while back and generally enjoyed it, even if I found it a bit predictable. The series is very diverse, which is something I’ve been looking for lately. These books are so tiny too! I read an ebook for the first one so it was weird to see how short they are in a physical copy. Public Relations by Katie Heaney and Arianna Rebolini | I saw Estelle and many others talking about this book on Twitter, and I think she started a movement with a few us! I requested it from the library (it was already on my Goodreads TBR but just not high enough up) and it came in quickly. I’ll be reading it when I need something cute and addicting. The Wonder of Us by Kim Culbertson |  I’ll admit that this is […]

Library Love | July

I’ve been wanting to share some library hauls on the blog, since I don’t include them in my monthly wrap-ups. I go through phases where I use the library A LOT and phases where I forget it exists somehow. Whenever the mood strikes, I’ll share what I’m working on from the library during any given month. This is a somewhat special version of library love, because I’m currently using the library in my new home! One of the first things I did when we got here (literally, we went on the third day we were here) was get a library card. I specifically made my grandma send me a letter so I had proof of address and everything. The Portland Public Library is really nice because there are multiple branches in different areas. I’m near the Burbank branch, so that means I don’t have to go downtown to get books! I can request for books to move from different locations too. I’ve already placed a few holds for books that are coming out later and picked up some more. I love that the library has self-service locations. You can find and grab your own holds from the shelf AND check them out yourself. Easy in and out! Anyways, enough of me rambling about my new library. Here’s what I’ve got! Trouble is a Friend of Mine by Stephanie Tromly | I’ve checked this out from the library previously but never got around to reading it before the due date. I don’t […]

Library Love | March

I’ve been wanting to share some library hauls on the blog, since I don’t include them in my monthly wrap-ups. I go through phases where I use the library A LOT and phases where I forget it exists somehow. Whenever the mood strikes, I’ll share what I’m working on from the library during any given month. I haven’t done one of these since November so I thought it was time… since I go crazy every time! Don’t You Wish by Roxanne St. Clair | I saw this one on the shelf and grabbed it without thinking. I first was confusing it with another book, but quickly realized this was also on my TBR! So, no harm, no foul. I’m obsessed with parallel life books in every single form, so you could say I’m excited to check this one out. My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella | I requested this book ASAP once I saw some great reviews roll in. I used to love Sophie Kinsella but haven’t read one of her books since like 2013 or 2014. I actually just finished this one (I started it the same day I picked it up from the library lol) and LOVED it. The Last of August by Brittany Cavallaro | I really enjoyed the first book in the Charlotte Holmes series and have been anxiously awaiting this release! I hope it improves on the story and addresses some of the “issues” I had with the characters in book one. I’ve been really into mystery books […]

Library Love | November

I’ve been wanting to share some library hauls on the blog, since I don’t usually include them in my monthly wrap-ups. I just show the books I acquired for keeps instead of the ones I’m renting 😉 However, the library has been really fantastic lately. I go through phases where I use it A LOT and phases where I forget it exists somehow. Whenever the mood strikes, I’ll share what I’m working on from the library during any given month. I haven’t done one of these since April so I thought it was due time… since I went crazy last time! The Choices We Make by Karma Brown | I adored her debut so incredibly much. I’m really nervous this one won’t hold up, but I’ve seen nothing but great reviews so far! I’m sure I’ll need to pick this one up when I’m in the mood to cry again, because good lorddddd did her first book make me SOB. Interference by Kay Honeyman | This was added to my hold list on a whim (I think someone posted a review that I saw?) and recently came in. I love anything football related. The really broad comparisons for this one make it seem like it’ll be similar to another favorite of mine (Jane Austin + football), so we’ll see! Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas | No-brainer. I decided to hold off on buying the audio of this for now so I can test out actually reading one of the books in this […]

Library Love | April

I’ve been wanting to share some library hauls on the blog, since I don’t usually include them in my monthly wrap-ups. I just show the books I acquired for keeps instead of the ones I’m renting 😉 However, the library has been really fantastic lately. I go through phases where I use it A LOT and phases where I forget it exists somehow. Whenever the mood strikes, I’ll share what I’m working on from the library during any given month. [Linking up with Library Loot; details at the bottom] On Location by Jen Calonita /// I keep starting old series and then never finishing them. *eye roll emoji*  I’ve been aiming to reread this series and finally finish it off. Continuing with book two! Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge /// Book Buddies pick for April with Cristina! Must read ASAP. The Love That Split the World by Emily Henry /// I was instantly attracted to this one and don’t know why I didn’t pick it up at ALA. It sounds right up my alley and the library was a good place to grab it. The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury /// This has been on my TBR for a long time and I finally got it out from the library. It took forever for me to read for some reason, but I did eventually finish! Fables 1 & 2 by Bill Willingham  /// I always stare longingly at this series when I visit the graphic novel section of B&N with Chris. I finally decided the library would […]
