Top Ten Tuesdays #3: Not Sure I’ll Read

Top Ten Books I’m Not Sure I Want To Read – books you may have bought but aren’t sure if you are into it anymore, books you wanted to read but heard mixed things about, hyped books you aren’t sure about, etc. [Hosted by Broke & Bookish] I’ve been dealing with this more and more since I started blogging. Normally, I’d rely on browsing Goodreads, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon to get book recommendations. I would just judge the books by their cover and plot summary, then decide if I wanted to read it. Sometimes friends would recommend books, but I largely made book-buying and reading decisions by myself. Since reading other book blogs and their reviews is a major part of my day now, my influences have been swayed so much! I constantly see books I normally never would have picked up, but decide they sound interesting after reading someone’s review. The opposite could happen too: I want to read a book but someone’s review is very negative and it turns me off. Here are ten books I’m not sure if I want to read or not. I used three categories for this one: peer pressure, gathering dust, and open-ended.

Top Ten Tuesdays #2: Recs for YA Virgins

Top 10 Books I’d Give to Adult Readers Who Have Never Read Young Adult Don’t even get me started on the age-related stigma placed on young adult books. The bottom line is, you should read whatever makes you happy! I prefer reading about younger characters and putting myself back at that age. I like books I can relate my own experiences to – even if those experiences happened a few years ago. Reading “adult” books makes me think of the future, getting older, and other problems I don’t want to deal with at this stage in my life. I’m sure at some point, once I’m older, I’ll branch out a little more.. In the meantime, here are the top 10 young adult books I would recommend to adults (or adult books with younger characters growing up)!   Looking for Alaska by John Green: This is my all-time favorite book, and definitely John Green’s best work. Readers of all ages can connect to this story and appreciate all of the character development and thought that he put into it. The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen: I recommended Sarah Dessen to a friend who wasn’t into young adult books, and now she is completely hooked! This story was a gateway drug for her into the world of YA. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky: I always call this a modern-day Catcher in the Rye. Any adult reader who enjoyed that book, will enjoy Perks. After you finish the book, watch the […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #1: Most Owned Authors

Some of my numbers may be a bit off, since 3/4 of my books are still at my parents’ house, the rest are at my apartment, and none are currently with me at work. Regardless, here are the 10 authors I own the most books from!     The Gossip Girl series, including the Carlyles mini-series/spinoff, and Cum Laude (which I haven’t read yet due to fairly bad reviews)       The Private series, the spinoff Privilege series, Shadowlands trilogy, Sweet 16, and Megan Meade’s Guide to the McGowan Boys (haven’t read yet)       The Clique series and the summer character-based books         The Pretty Little Liars series (I am dying to get my hands on her two newest books ASAP, and still waiting for the final PLL book to be released at the end of the year!)       I went through my Goodreads and counted the books I own by her (I hope I counted correctly)… I’ve probably only read half of the books I own       Is this even a picture of her? This is the only one I saw online. Regardless, I have the A-List series and the A-List Hollywood Royalty spinoff series       Series of Unfortunate Events!         This is another one I’m not 100% which books I own by her. I’ve read almost all of her books but don’t own all of them. This is an educated guess based on […]
