Bookish Bingo Read-a-Thon Wrap-Up

I really loved participating in the Bookish Bingo Readathon, hosted by Pretty Deadly Reviews. These bingo cards are some of my favorite challenges to join in on. I usually do a very good job at filling them, if I say so myself, but this readathon was too fun to pass up. More details on the challenge: The readathon will start at 12am on April 3rd, and run the entire week, ending at 11:59pm on April 9th. The Bookish Bingo Readathon is all about reading books that fit into the squares of the Spring Bingo card. You don’t have to make a bingo or anything, just make sure the books you read for the readathon match up on the card. This is all about getting a good chunk of your card covered! Bingo card now I had 14 squares marked off when starting the challenge. My goal was to check off 2-3 more boxes on the bingo card. Let’s see how I did: Books read   You can see my potential TBR here. I ended up editing it after a day or two because I thought of more options that fit in with the themes. I was able to read the following books that aligned with a few categories on the Bingo card: Flowers on the cover – Two Summers [flowers located in one of the sunglasses’ lenses] Nonfiction – We Should All Be Feminists [shorter, but still counts!] Retelling – Queen of Hearts [came in from ARC tour] Still working on this book: Green cover – […]

Bingo card so far I already have 14 marked off (including the free space), so I’m in pretty good shape. Some of the options left are tricky based on my current TBR, but let’s see what I can make work. My TBR options My goal is to fill 2-3 spaces on the card with my reads this week. I have a lot of library books out right now, on top of some ARCs I want to get done… so this will motivate me to read the right ones! I did come up with a few more options after writing this post, so I may consider reading ~other things~ depending on my mood. Green cover – The Long Game OR The Vanishing Throne […]

Beat the Heat Readathon Sign-Up and Progress

Beat the Heat Readathon Sign-Up and Progress

I’m joining the Beat the Heat Readathon!  As usual, you may be thinking I’m crazy for joining another challenge and/or readathon. I mean, I JUST finished Bout of Books on Sunday and am still (technically supposed to be) participating in ARC August. Here are some details about this two-week long readathon, hosted by Novel Heartbeat and Phantasmic Reads: The Beat the Heat Readathon runs from August 24th at 12:00 AM to September 6th at 11:59 PM. What does this readathon entail, you ask? Well, read as much or as little as you want – the main point is to READ! You set your own goal, and for three weeks you read as many books as you can/want to reach your goal! There will be mini-challenges throughout the Readathon for participants, along with a grand prize giveaway at the end! Simple enough! Last year I made my own personal readathon during this time of year to challenge myself to get to all of those light, summery contemporaries before “summer” was officially over. I liked the idea of it but had only been blogging for a few months at that point, so it was pointless to try to host something like that. I found this readathon this year, so that’s even better. Goals and Potential TBR Overall goal → Read between 6-10 books during the two week time period August 24th through 31st → Read books for ARC August, as well as my Book Club’s pick for our July meeting (We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach) […]

Read-a-Thon Wrap-Up: Make Me Read It

Starts at 8:00am on July 20th and ends at 12:00am on July 27th #MakeMeRead tag on Twitter/Instagram Check out the intro pages (Val’s or Ely’s) and the rules below: Look at the books you own, either physical, e-book or ones you’ve borrowed from the library and pick out a few you really want to read, or feel like you should read. It’s up to you how many you pick, personally I’d pick a few more than you expect to be able to read in a week. Example: if you think you’ll only read two, pick out five books or if you think you can read seven, pick out ten. Make a list of these books on your blog, or make a video, or a Goodreads shelf or post a picture on Instagram—whatever is easiest for you. Then get friends, other bloggers/booktubers etc. to vote on which books you HAVE to read. When the read-a-thon comes along, you read the books in the order of most votes. For example, if one book gets 10 votes—you read that first, then the one that got 7 and so on. If there’s a tie, then it’s your preference. The goal is to read as many as possible. Wrap-Up The read-a-thon started on Monday of last week and ends late tonight, so here is my wrap-up! I had a few obligations to read during it, so I didn’t do as well as I hoped in the beginning… but I’m glad I forced myself to read some […]

Here are the books I’ll be reading in rank order. As the rules suggest, you […]

I have soooo many of them. During this […]

Goodbye Summer TBR List

Today I’ll be starting my Goodbye Summer Readathon, where I motivate myself to finish the summery books I like to read during the season. Here’s my information post and the general page where I’ll be updating progress and goals. I don’t expect anyone to join in – but you’re more than welcome to! This is just my way of getting through some summer books before fall officially starts. Without further ado, here’s my TBR list that I’ll be completing between now and September 15th. I’ll be kicking it off with Since Last Summer!

Goodbye Summer Readathon: Join Me!

Goodbye Summer Readathon: Join Me!

I’ve decided to create readathon – primarily for myself to get my summer butt in gear! Each summer, I like to mostly read books about the season. I love to read about girls who head off to summer vacations or go on road trips. There are quite a few summery books on my TBR list that I somehow avoided this summer. Now that the season is coming to a close, I’ve decided to make a list of these books and finish them by the end of “summer”! If you would like to join me, feel free to link up in the comments! You can use my image and just connect it with my blog so others can join in. Here’s the official information page where I’ll be filling in my updates, TBR list, and other information. What I’m Doing Making a list of the books I wanted to complete this summer but didn’t get to. They’ll all be books about the summer season and/or feature summery things, like road trips and vacations. Setting a goal to read all of the books I add to my TBR list. Joining with anyone else who decides to take part by checking out their posts and keeping up with their goals/TBR list. Sitting back and enjoying the books! Bout of Books stressed me out more than it should have (I know that’s not the point of it!), so I want to just relax with my summery books and see if I can read them all before […]

Bout of Books 11 Wrap-Up

Bout of Books 11 Wrap-Up

Well, I didn’t meet my goal of 7 books – BUT I am definitely impressed that I made it to 6 books! I kind of forgot I had plans on Saturday night that would take up a lot of potential reading time. My boyfriend and I also had to use Sunday to start packing up some of our stuff so we can move into our new apartment in a couple of weeks! Overall, not the best reading weekend, but such a great reading week otherwise! All of my reviews should be up within the next few weeks. I have some catching up to do, but most of the reviews are already completed and scheduled. Here are my completed stats: Number of books: 6 Total pages read: 1,848 Did you stick to your TBR list? Yes! I can’t believe it. I was tempted to switch it up but I did a good job of reading only the books I allotted for myself. The one thing that I changed was that I needed to add a second audiobook to the list, because I finished the first one a lot earlier than expected. I didn’t even end up finishing it (The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender) by the end of the challenge anyways, so I guess it doesn’t make much difference. Which book was your favorite? Definitely To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before! I’ve been wanting to read it for SO long and finally used Bout of Books as my excuse […]

Isla Is Coming Readalong / Review: Isla and the Happily Ever After

Isla Is Coming Readalong / Review: Isla and the Happily Ever After

The Isla Is Coming readalong kicked off on the last day of July and I decided to take part! Unlike most people participating, I’m reading the series for the first time. (Click on the picture above to read the informational post). I finished Anna and the French Kiss WAY too early and waited to start Lola and the Boy Next Door with the rest of the readers. I finished Lola within 24 hours as well! Of course, the point of the readalong is to gear up for the third book’s release – Isla and the Happily Ever After on the 14th. I pre-ordered it and anxiously awaited for it to come in. It was worth the wait. Without further ado, here’s my final review for the Isla Is Coming readalong! ISLA IS HERE!!! Review: Oh god, how am I going to write this review without A) squealing and swooning like a child and B) not repeating the lovely things everyone else has already said about this book. This author. This series. IT’S ALL PERFECT. I don’t have any idea how Stephanie Perkins can write very typical young adult romance books but have them be so different, so original, and so amazing. First off, Isla was different because the two characters, Isla and Josh, started their relationship fairly early in the book. It was not about how they came together, but how they stayed together and how their relationship grew. In both Anna and Lola, the couples took some time to get their shit together and make it work. The […]
