WWW Wednesdays are hosted by Should Be Reading, where we answer three questions: what are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? and what are you planning to read next?
I’ve got quite a bit going on this week! I started my reread of the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter. I’m actually listening to them all on audio and it’s been interesting so far. I LOVED this series; I initially read them when they first came out. I kept up with them for a few years but haven’t read the last two books. I figured a reread would be helpful to finish off the series. I NEVER reread book, so kudos to you Ally Carter for prompting me to do it! The one thing I dislike is the narrator’s voice.. holy shit she makes them sound like 11 year old girls. One of my Book Buddies and I are reading Salt & Storm for our October buddy review, but I can’t seem to get into it. She’s going to give it a try and let me know what she thinks; we may be switching it up. In the meantime I’m kind of pausing that reading. I started The Art of Wishing this morning since it’s due back to the library soon. It should be a quick read and it’s really fun so far. I’m excited to see where it goes!
DAMN I didn’t realize how much I read this week until all of the covers were sitting here next to each other! I somehow didn’t include The Perfectionists last week, so here it is! Sara Shepard has done it again; loved this one! I read Catching Jordan on a whim and REALLY enjoyed it. I loved all of the football stuff and getting to meet the characters. Kenneally is quickly turning into an auto-buy author for me. I finished my audiobook, Rites of Passage, and didn’t end up liking it that much. I seem to be the black sheep on that one! I really liked the characters but the story was hard to listen to (with all of the hazing) and a lot of parts dragged for me. I read Scoring Wilder pretty quickly; that was a fast and fun read. The second half of the book seemed to drag the story out far too long for me, but I still ended up really liking it. I finished Poisoned Apples, finally! I just sat myself down and read all of the poems. It was pretty powerful stuff; very glad I bought a copy for my shelf.
Last week I claimed my next audiobook would be The Maze Runner and other book would be The Diviners… Yeah, that didn’t happen. Instead I started the Gallagher Girls reread, so next I’ll be on to Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy. I will probably take a brief break to do The Maze Runner audio afterwards (but who knows – I may just decide to finish off the series). After I finish The Art of Wishing, I’ll dive quickly into the sequel: The Fourth Wish. I have this one checked out from the library already, too. I would like to read a creepier book before Halloween but who knows if that’ll end up happening. I’m normally not into scary books but I think I could get into one because of the season!
Salt & Storm definitely starts out slow, but it does get better. The last 20% more than make up for the slow start.
So glad to hear that!!
It’s a shame to read that Salt & Storm isn’t quite living up to expectations! I hope you enjoy the rest of your books though.
Have you read it? I think it’s kind of starting slow but I could see that maybe it’ll pick up at some point.
I haven’t, but I really wanted to read it!
Well I’ll keep ya posted on how it’s going! It’s been getting some mixed reviews from bloggers so I’m not entirely surprised it’s not what I hoped
