The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 14th and runs through Sunday, May 20th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 22 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
I’m here for what feels like my millionth round of Bout of Books! I feel like I say this every time, but I definitely need this week of reading. I wanted to participate in the Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon a couple of weeks ago but ended up having a friend come to visit instead. This round of Bout of Books is going to help me boost up my totals so I can prepare for a busy late June/early July. I have so many things to do, between weddings and moving and traveling across the country, so I’m not sure how much I’ll read. I’m sure I will on those flights to and from California but I didn’t want to bank on it. In any case! I have big goals for this week.
Goals
The biggest goal that I can’t really put numbers to is to get ahead on my Goodreads goal by at least a few books. I’m hoping for it to say somewhere between 3-5 books ahead by the time this readathon ends. I need that little cushion heading into my busy months. A more quantifiable goal is that I hope to read 4-5 books during this week. I reduced my Goodreads goal this year to 120 so I only had to read 10 books per month, so I’m hoping that reading more than the “2.5 books” I need to read each week to meet the goal will push me ahead on the challenge. I also want to alternate between physical and ebooks because of my TBR goals for this month… coming up in the next section.
Possible TBR
As I said in my May TBR post, my goal is to split out my reads 50/50 between owned physical copies and egalleys that are publishing this month. I also had to read my book club pick (as an audiobook) and a blog tour book, which also happens to be another egalley publishing in May. Now that we’re halfway through the month, I can drill down into whatever needs more focus. For example, I tend to get really into an ebook reading mood when I read a few back to back, so I wanted to be sure to alternate between formats and keep up with that goal. As my fave YouTuber says: without further ado, let’s get into this!
Physical Copies
Ebooks & Egalleys
Ahhh this is just what I need after a couple of hectic weeks of the moving process! I desperately need to catch up on reading and I should be settled by the time Bout of Books starts! Twinkle and Furyborn will be on my list too!
I see so many pretties! I can’t wait to read From Twinkle, With Love. Thanks to being on break from school I get to participate in Bout of Books this time around! It has been a while since I have been able to do so. Happy Reading!
