[ARC] April TBR

Posted March 29, 2019 / Book Lists, Features, TBR Lists / 11 Comments

My monthly TBR feature here shows my progress based on last month’s TBR, my plans for this month, and anything else I might be thinking about from a reading perspective. Sometimes I feature a little poll at the bottom so you guys can help me figure out a certain title I should read from a group of books.

March Progress

Enchantée
The Winter Sister The Cottingley Secret Rayne & Delilah's Midnite Matinee The Truth About Leaving Always Never Yours Everything Must Go

I did a fucking great job with my TBR this past month! I was determined to get some challenges going (okay yes just the Retellings Challenge) while finishing up required reading (book club picks, review copies, blog tour, etc.). I did DNF the first book listed above because I couldn’t get into it. Oh well. I only read one book that wasn’t on my TBR because I didn’t realize I’d be able to get it so quickly through Hoopla.

Up Next in April

As I’ve done in the past, I’ll use the months starting with A for focusing on reading ARCs! There’s the actual ARC August challenge but sometimes I make my own little ARC April. I’ll be definitely doing that this month, with the exception of audiobooks (unless it’s an already-published review copy I have that now as an audiobook available) and my book club/required reading picks as needed. You’ll see, based on individual goals below, I’m hoping to make at least 6 books review copies during April (but ideally I would read more like 8-10, or all of the books I read)

Review Copies (Egalleys)

Past Due + Book Club

Goal: read all three

The Manic Pixie Dream Boy Improvement Project You Owe Me a Murder The Dating Game

Book club pick: The Manic Pixie Dream Boy Improvement Project by Applehans
You Owe Me a Murder by Cook | The Dating Game by Kiley Roache

I’m including the last one here because it publishes on the first, technically, and I know it’ll be past due by the time I read it this month! The other books are leftovers from March because I spent too much time on random ebooks instead of my egalleys. Whoops. I decided to be sneaky and suggest MANIC PIXIE for our YA book club, so it helps me combine my reads into ALL ARCs this month hopefully. It’s a really suitable pick though, since it’s all about YA tropes!

Publishing Soonish + Blog Tour

Goal: read at least two plus blog tour book

Trophy Life Fumbled (Playbook, #2) There's Something About Sweetie

Trophy Life by Geller | Fumbled by Martin | There’s Something about Sweetie by Menon
Blog tour: Last Girl Lied To by LE Flynn

These are publishing between mid-April and mid-May, so they’re coming up somewhat soon! It’d be nice to get ahead on these ones and get reviews up before pub dates come. They always come sooner than you think! My goal is to read at least two of these in April, but hopefully get to all of them. I’m also on the blog tour for LAST GIRL LIED TO, which is publishing next month as well, so I’ll definitely read that one as a part of my ARC April plans. (SO excited for that one, and really all of these honestly!)

Publishing Later

Goal: read one or more

The Flatshare One Night at the Lake The Last Resort Natalie Tan's Book of Luck and Fortune

The Flatshare by O’Leary | One Night at the Lake by Chase
The Last Resort by Stapley | Natalie Tan’s Book of Luck & Fortune by Lim

I can’t resist reaching far ahead too! There are a few books publishing later in May through July (I believe?) listed here. I’m going to TRY to avoid reading beyond July so I can get ahead more on the immediate reading needs. I’m targeting reading one or more of these ones.

Review Copies (Physical) incl. Retellings Challenge

Don’t Date Rosa Santos by Moreno | The Goodbye Summer by Van Name
Meet Cute by Hunting | A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Kemmerer

I’ve been meaning to read ROSA for a few months now, but this is finally the time! I want to finish it up so I can send it back to Andi with the other book I already finished from her. Otherwise, I have three books that came in the mail from publishers to read. It just so happens that CURSE will fit perfectly with my retellings challenge so I can keep getting those ones squared away. No retellings poll, just me getting ahead on this one copy… I hope.

Old Review Copies as Audiobooks

Almost Missed You The Cottage on Rose Lane Fight or Flight The Adults The F Word

Almost Missed You by Strawser | The Cottage on Rose Lane by Ramsay
Fight or Flight by Young | The Adults by Hulse | The F Word by Palmer

As I mentioned previously, I hope that my audiobook selections for the month are also review copies! This means they would have already published prior to April of this year. I found these four, plus a few other options, on Scribd, so I’m definitely hoping to get to 1-2 of these audiobooks.

Miscellaneous – Other Challenges & Freebie

As Kismet Would Have It

As Kismet Would Have It by Menon

This novella sequel to Dimple is releasing in April, with the first day being a freebie on Riveted Lit’s website. I hope to read it right away when it’s released on April 1st because why not take advantage of that?!

Picky Pledge: I’ve decided to skip my Picky Pledge reading for this month and just read two next month, as I REALLY want to get going on review copies (those innately don’t fit with the Picky Pledge for me, unfortunately!).

Monthly Motif: The theme for my Monthly Motif Challenge is crack the case, which is about mysteries, of course! I have two on my TBR (pictured above – LAST GIRL LIED TO and YOU OWE ME A MURDER).

I also have to read The Dating Game so I’m looking forward to your thoughts on it! I’m currently reading You Owe Me A Murder and it’s pretty good so far.
