Thankful Freebie:
Things I’m Thankful for from 2019

Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review.

I usually do some kind of “things I’m thankful for” or “books I’m thankful for” post for this each year. I thought I’d do the usual and share some of the things I’m most thankful for from 2019, both bookish and non-bookish.

Artful Agenda | This has been a planning-related game-changer for me this year. You can read my full post and breakdown here, but basically this is a digital planner that syncs over your calendars and allows you to also customize it like a real planner. You can see the floral print cover I used from the spring into fall, but now there are some Christmas covers to choose from! I do somewhat miss paper planners (and have thoughts on using one in a different way next year) but I will not get rid of this guy.

Shampoo brush | A couple of shower-related things, weirdly enough… I’ve been loving this shampoo brush! It really massages the shampoo into your hair and makes sure your roots get clean.

Silicone shower scrubber | We made the switch away from loofahs recently after learning how much bacteria they can hold/carry. These silicone scrubbers lightly exfoliate your skin and still lather up the body wash pretty well!

Bangle key ring | I ALWAYS lose my keys in the giant pit that is my purse. This thing has been a game-changer in a couple of ways. I can always find my keys because the bangle is solid and large enough for me to reach in and just grab. I can also wear it as a bangle/bracelet when I’m carrying a lot of stuff in and out of my car, office, and house. My hand is freed up and I can still lock or unlock doors with my arms full.

Family, friends, and Chris | It was a really good year for hanging out with friends and family more! We went to gatherings, hosted friends for NYE and wrestling shows, and made sure to visit with our parents and siblings more. I think we tried to take advantage of living back home this year and made the most of it. I’m also, as always, thankful for Chris. I’m excited to enter the next phase of life together, not that much will change 😉

Highly anticipated books meeting expectations | This was kind of a big year for me, reading-wise! I saw the finale (and second book!) of The Folk of the Air trilogy come out and blow me away this past month. I also – within the same week! – completed the first book in the Raven Cycle spin-off series, the Dreamer trilogy. I was such a fan of it despite, as usual, being generally confused about what happened. I also read (quite early) THE MAP FROM HERE TO THERE, the unexpected and pleasant surprise from Emery Lord, where we see what happens with Paige and Max after THE START OF ME AND YOU. It was so lovely. And finally, while this book maaay have been my least favorite of these (still in the 4-4.5 star range though), it was damn excellent to read the new trilogy about Nikolai, my favorite character from the Grishaverse.

Meeting two favorite authors | My sister and I met Sarah Dessen for the second time back in the summertime at An Unlikely Story. This is my favorite “local” (hour and a half away) indie bookstore, easily. I also got to meet Holly Black and Cassandra Clare this month for the QoN release.

  1. I have never heard of a shampoo brush. I need to Google that. It’s so cool that you got to meet your favorite authors. I got to see one of my favorites last year, but the signing line was so long that I didn’t stick around to meet her.
