I thought there was too much pressure (only from myself TBH) last year to watch and review holiday movies, but I still felt like something was MISSING from my holiday post schedule without this kind of roundup! I thought I would talk a little about my plans to watch 40 Christmas movies in the 40 days leading up to Christmas (approximately). I tweeted each of them so this little roundup will discuss each movie per my Twitter feed!
#ChristmasMovieADay
While this hasn’t worked out exactly as I planned (because honestly a LOT of the Hallmark movies this year didn’t fully appeal to me for some reason), I still wanted to target watching 40 movies in the 40 days leading up to Christmas. I figured any time where I got behind, I’d probably make up for it later on. Chris is on board with watching some classics when we get closer to Christmas, so we’d end up seeing a few movies a day then. I also got lucky where my boss was out of the office for a few days – that meant I could play some cheesy Hallmark or Netflix movies in the background while working.
Mini Movie Reviews So Far
#ChristmasMovieADay A Shoe Addict’s Christmas ? I somehow didn’t get around to this one last year despite the fact that CCB is my favorite. Fun concept overall but I don’t know why God was referenced..usually Hallmark is not that overt and it felt random toward the end pic.twitter.com/jkjfLxx57h

#ChristmasMovieADay Christmas Under the Stars ? Jesse Metcalfe is so hot it should be illegal, and that’s all you need for a review, right? (If that’s not enough, this was very cute!) pic.twitter.com/Id1qaWIUPW

#ChristmasMovieADay Write Before Christmas ? Okay so I didn’t pay as much attention during this as I should’ve but I loved what I did see lol it reminded me of the movies where everyone’s connected and you find out how later on. Plus… Chad Michael Murray ?? pic.twitter.com/8kSylsv9x3
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) November 20, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay Christmas Scavenger Hunt ? This kind of premise is right up my alley and I enjoyed it! Probably my least favorite this season for no real reason. Still really good and glad I watched it but comparatively??♀️ pic.twitter.com/8NDENnSFxW
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) November 20, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay A Merry Christmas Match ? I like when they flip the script and a woman wants to leave the small town for a city (I could never ?). I didn’t feel the chemistry much between the couple despite enjoying the lead actress usually. Overall an okay one pic.twitter.com/pEQtePyB4c
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) November 25, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay A Christmas Duet ? I liked this one a lot, especially the musical premise and the inn setting! There was a litttttle too much going on with the side characters but it was still enjoyable. pic.twitter.com/X163JDMY01
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) November 27, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay Holiday Hearts ? This was cute but I don’t have much to say about it?? I usually enjoy this actress so I’m not surprised that this was a good one for me. Nothing groundbreaking though lol pic.twitter.com/iZRbx56xCZ
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) November 27, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay Check Inn to Christmas ? Forgot this one the other day. Really enjoyed it! Feuding families, inns in a cute Christmassy town – all the good stuff ? pic.twitter.com/loIINsLX7t

#ChristmasMovieADay Christmas at the Plaza ? I’m not a city gal but there is something magical about NYC (especially the Plaza!) during the holiday season. Loved the tiny mystery and somewhat unique premise. pic.twitter.com/Vq9KoNWO9N
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) December 1, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay Noelle ? First non-Hallmark of the year! At first I thought this was trying too hard to be a female version of Elf (with strong elements from The Santa Clause 2) but yep I loved it by the end. And definitely cried ? pic.twitter.com/4u9M4QuMgI
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) December 2, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay The Christmas Club ? This was good from a plot perspective – I loved them running into each other and the lost money situation. Reaaaally hated that the lead female was whispering the whole time?? Why was your voice like that???? The weirdest acting lol pic.twitter.com/ojcmnLjqFB
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) December 2, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay Christmas in Rome ? Not bad! These two are some of my favorite Hallmark leads. The Roman setting was fun and different, especially the travel agent stuff. pic.twitter.com/IGa2U6bgnF
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) December 3, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay 12 Dates of Christmas ? I’ve been meaning to watch this one for years now and wasn’t in the mood for Hallmark today, so thanks Disney+ ? This was cute enough! I always love the Groundhog Day concept. The main character was decent (after a while lol) pic.twitter.com/KE3CxCP3Lc
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) December 6, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay Sense, Sensibility, and Snowmen ? I have to be honest that I had this on purely as background noise and it was just fine. I don’t love the lead actress but I like the actor usually. Classic Hallmark pic.twitter.com/cSsiWHyX5y
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) December 9, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay Christmas Inheritance ? Pretty cute! Very classic kind of “heiress reforms her ways when falling in love with a small town / guy there” story. Highly enjoyed seeing Pete from The Office in this too lol pic.twitter.com/FrVvWQoWYG
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) December 9, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay Love the Coopers ? Haven’t seen this one since theaters and honestly I still love it. I think it tries too hard to be deep and toss a lot in, but the kind of “here’s all the characters now, later you’ll see how they fit together” movies are my FAVE pic.twitter.com/Okvi6cZbyi
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) December 10, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay The Knight Before Christmas ? Good background noise at work. Obviously a bit ridiculous and silly from but its *exactly* what I expected it to be! pic.twitter.com/sjtQLc9kk7
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) December 10, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay A Christmas Prince ? Yes I finally watched this ridiculous movie and it was also as cheesy as I expected. 100% watching the rest of these haha pic.twitter.com/6Gk5sVYCLd
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) December 10, 2019
#ChristmasMovieADay The Grinch ? Cute! I liked this somewhat different spin on the classic story. Great animation style! I wish there was more of Tyler the Creator’s Grinch album throughout pic.twitter.com/eRFOUfB5gZ
— Lauren (@bookmarklit) December 14, 2019
Haha I loved The Knight Before Christmas! I just watched it a few days ago. Christmas in Rome was also good. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
