wed wrapup

I don’t like to do too many weekly memes on the blog and usually stick to TTT, but I thought it would be fun to occasionally post Wednesday memes I’m interested in. It won’t be weekly, but it’ll be fun to recap the previous week or so and talk about what books I have on the docket. It will be a combination of WWW Wednesdays and Waiting on Wednesdays (more details below!), as well as anything else I’d like to share.

asks upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

I’m currently waiting impatiently for…

The Cousins

The Cousins by Karen M. McManus

Release Date: December 1st, 2020

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of One of Us Is Lying comes your next obsession. You’ll never feel the same about family again.

Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story are cousins, but they barely know each another, and they’ve never even met their grandmother. Rich and reclusive, she disinherited their parents before they were born. So when they each receive a letter inviting them to work at her island resort for the summer, they’re surprised . . . and curious.

Their parents are all clear on one point–not going is not an option. This could be the opportunity to get back into Grandmother’s good graces. But when the cousins arrive on the island, it’s immediately clear that she has different plans for them. And the longer they stay, the more they realize how mysterious–and dark–their family’s past is.

The entire Story family has secrets. Whatever pulled them apart years ago isn’t over–and this summer, the cousins will learn everything.

I’ve been loving all of McManus’s books! Even ones that aren’t my favorite still manage to capture my attention and keep me interested. This one looks pretty fascinating – I love a good island-based story! Something so creepy and closed-in about that setting for a mystery/thriller, like And Then There Were None.

www wedWWW Wednesday is hosted by Taking on a World of Words and asks the questions below.

 What are you currently reading?

10 Things I Hate About Pinky by Sandhya Menon (audio and egalley)

I’m actually really enjoying this one. We went camping last weekend and I finished one book (below) then made some major progress on this one. Of course, I haven’t read a single page since then. My reading is so god-awful right now. I hope I can finish soon!

What did you recently finish reading?

All Eyes on Her by L.E. Flynn
The Fell of Dark by Caleb Roehrig
My Calamity Jane by Brodi Ashton, Jodi Meadows, Cynthia Hand

I was on the blog tour for ALL EYES ON HER and really enjoyed it. I think the ending was a bit…meh… but the book was unputdownable and had a lot of quick chapters with different POVs to crank through. I needed a quick read and it delivered. THE FELL OF DARK was for book club and was pretty enjoyable. The dialogue was extensive though; it felt like every chapter was someone explaining something to the MC and not a lot of plot as a result. And before that, I finallyyyy finished MY CALAMITY JANE. Another great read that took forever, but at least I can kind of blame it on the length!

What do you think you’ll read next?

Good Girl, Bad Blood (A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, #2) They Wish They Were Us You Have a Match

Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson
They Wish They Were Us by Jessica Goodman
You Have a Match by Emma Lord

I couldn’t wait for GOOD GIRL, BAD BLOOD so I ordered it from the UK and Bookdepository. I hope to read it very soon as my physical read and maybe will even start it before the weekend. I loved book one and was super addicted to it, so hopefully this one is similar. I wanted to wait for the US version since its based in Connecticut but I was too impatient. Oh well! THEY WISH THEY WERE US is one of those thrillers that immediately grabs me and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. I decided to buy a physical copy, very randomly, so I’d love to get to that soon too. And finally, YOU HAVE A MATCH doesn’t publish for a while but you know that I have to read Emma Lord’s new book immediately.
