#7booksin7days

Posted August 13, 2022 / Book Challenges, Features / 2 Comments

I’ve been inspired lately to try to get back into reading and on track with my book life since I’ve been watching a lot more booktube. (I’m sure most people expected me to say booktok since that’s all the rage but honestly it makes me mad seeing every 3rd video on there recommending Colleen Hoover.) I watched a couple of people do “7 thriller books in 7 days” challenges and thought it would be exactly what I need to get me reading again. I’m currently a whopping 9 books behind on my challenge, so this would certainly help me eliminate a lot of that. I struggle with reading too many books of the same genre in a row though so this is a more broad and basic 7 books in 7 days. Honestly I have a feeling they’ll be mostly thrillers anyways since those tend to be the most addicting for me.

I don’t have any real plans after work over the next week including this weekend. I decided to start today (Saturday) around 5pm so I was at a bit of a disadvantage haha. Luckily I’m already in the middle of two books (more below on that) so I figured I could finish one of them today and check that box. This coming Friday and Saturday I have some plans after work so we’ll see how I do then.

I posted a July and August TBR the other day so I’ll use that for inspiration below. I also have two library books out right now and am currently reading two books. I know the only way I could finish this challenge is by utilizing audiobooks throughout the week… Luckily most of my podcasts aren’t interesting me right now so I wont often be tempted to listen to those instead!

I won’t be too bummed if I don’t finish all 7 books within the week but as long as I can make a lot of progress toward that goal and reduce my backlog, I’ll be happy! You can track along with me and see how I’m holding up on my Instagram (bookmark_lit) if you’d like!

Possible TBR

Alright here are some of the books I think might read this week. I’ll do a check-in post next week once I complete this challenge too.

Currently Reading

Nothing More to Tell It's Not Summer Without You (Summer, #2)

Nothing More to Tell by Karen M. McManus – 40% complete – Egalley

I’ve been looking forward to this one like I have with all KMM books! It’s very intriguing so far and am hoping that keeps up. This would be super easy to blitz out this afternoon or tonight. Chris and I have a few shows to watch but this is on my Kindle so I’m sure I can make it happen this weekend for sure.

It’s Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han – 50% complete – Audio/ebook reread

I’m halfway through this one via audio (and a little bit of ebook). It’s a super easy background option since I read it years ago and just watched the show. I wanted to finish books two and three in the trilogy before upcoming seasons of the show come out. I think based on my current speed I have 1-2 hours left, which will definitely get done this weekend.

Owned Mystery/Thrillers

The Agathas Things We Do in the Dark You're Invited No Exit

The Agathas by Kathleen Glasgow and Liz Lawson // I bought this one back in May because for some reason I was super excited for it. It seems like it’ll be a good mystery but I’m not 100% sure this one will be as unputdownble as I need my books to be this week?

Things We Do in the Dark by Jennifer Hillier // You’re Invited by Amanda Jayatissa // No Exit by Taylor Adams // All three of these are BOTM picks from this year. I’ve heard good things about all of them. Honestly I’ll probably skim through reviews to see which one(s) people said were super addicting or that they read them in one sitting. I’m thinking NO EXIT will win that race because I’ve seen that the majority of people can absolutely not put this one down. (This one also is available via audio on Scribd, which is worth noting for me!)

Library Books

This Is Not the Real World (This Is Not the Jess Show #2) Family of Liars

This Is Not the Real World by Anna Carey // I really enjoyed the first book in this series (duology?) and was super excited to read more in this world, especially with that cliffhanger (I think there was one? haha). I wrote in my review that I read this one in just a couple of sittings as well.

Family of Liars by E. Lockhart // Okay so yes, I did hate the first book WE WERE LIARS. I’ve heard that this one could be worth the read and for some reason I’m intrigued? I remember blazing through the first book and am hoping this will be a super fast read as well.

Digital Options

We'll Always Have Summer (Summer, #3) The Hookup Plan Majesty (American Royals, #2) Stillhouse Lake (Stillhouse Lake, #1)

We’ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han // It’ll be pretty easy to make this be my audiobook throughout the week, considering I’ll be finishing book two very soon. They’re super quick especially on 1.5x speed, so I have a good feeling this one will be completed.

The Hookup Plan by Farrah Rochon // I was a big fan of the other books in this series so I’ve been really looking forward to this one! I’ve had bad luck with romance lately so I just keep putting it off. It’s one of the few books remaining on my July/August TBR though so here it is!

Majesty by Katharine McGee // This book is a little too long to be featured here IMO but I’ve had it on my list FOREVER. I really want to read it. To be fair – I have this both as an audiobook and an ebook so I should be able to finish it quicker. AND I remember reading the first book very quickly and getting quite addicted.

Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine // For this last book option, I went into some of my Goodreads to-read shelves and sorted by shortest. I tried to find an option that I had both audio and ebook for since it’ll give me more options. I have this on my Kindle and Scribd has the audiobook, so win-win for me.
