2026 Summer Bucket List

Posted May 29, 2026 / Goals & Planning, Personal / Information / Etc. / 0 Comments

Last summer was one of the busiest and weirdest ones we’ve had – we packed up slowly for a couple of months, moved out of our rental house at the end of June, moved into a temporary Airbnb, immediately went to Maine for the Fourth of July long weekend, spent the rest of July in the Airbnb, bought my parent’s house, and moved into our new home at the beginning of August. My reading was not consistent, nor did I read the physical TBR that I didn’t pack away for the summer lol.

Enjoy the pool at least 1-2 times per week, including pool parties

Once we get the pool open, I really hope to make use of it! It’s such a pain in the ass to set up. I’d like to have some biweekly pool parties with various friends or have people over on Sundays to swim all summer. Cook out or bring food/drinks and just enjoy the weather. I love hopping in the pool on a hot day to cool down or laze around on the weekend so I definitely want to make the most of it.

Get Hazel and Miller out in the world

We plan to go to Maine for the Fourth again and it will be our first time sleeping outside of our house with Hazel and seeing how she does overnight in a new place. We have a Mystic trip planned in August as well so hopefully she is a good girl this summer. I want to try to bring them to breweries or other fun places like the disc golf course since she honestly needs more socialization.

Watch my anticipated shows: Off-Campus and Every Year After

I’ve been so excited about the Off-Campus TV show and it’s been multiple weeks since it was released. All of my friends are obsessed. And I’m sitting here without having watched a single episode. I really, desperately want to watch this and I know I’ll be addicted once I get going, but it’s really hard to just veg out and binge a TV show when you have a needy puppy. I also will absolutely be watching the Every Summer After adaptation when that comes out in early June. My goal is to get Off-Campus done before I’m allowed to watch Every Year After.

Read while watching WNBA games

It’s easy to zone out on my phone when we’re watching basketball games but unless it’s my team, I can definitely be reading instead of scrolling.

Enjoy Love Island Season 8

We got addicted – very randomly – to Love Island season 7 last year. Chris was not planning on watching with me but then he caught the first few minutes and immediately got pulled in. It’s the only season we’ve watched and I know many people hated the season, but unfortunately the drama was so good for us. I’m SO excited to sit down and watch this five nights a week all summer.

Get back on track with my reading challenge by end of August

I’ve been struggling and behind since basically February when we got our puppy. While she’s generally a good girl and I have time to read, I spend way too much time scrolling on my phone instead of doing so. I’ve spent the past few months 3-4 books behind schedule. The good thing is, now that we have a fenced-in yard and the screenhouse is set up, I should be able to sit out with my outside-obsessed dogs and read a lot this summer. Lazy weekend mornings, chill weekday evenings, you name it. I want to be at least “on track” by the end of August, especially because September proves to be a busy month for me too.

Read 80-90% of my Summer TBR graphic

I have some review copies, preorders, and exciting new releases I really want to get done this summer. The Summer TBR graphic at the bottom of this post has 20 books I really would like to read between now and the end of August, or maybe Labor Day weekend if I’m being generous!! I hope to read 16-18 books at a minimum off this list, some of which are featured below.

New Summery Books

My full Summer TBR is below in the graphic but I thought a few summery books – like the beachy books I always want to read – should be highlighted here. I’m reading CHANGE OF PLANS at the time of writing this post and plan to read OUR PERFECT STORM right after. DOLLY ALL THE TIME is on hold in all three formats from my local library and I’ve preordered THE SOMEDAY GARDEN for when that comes out in a few weeks I believe.

Backlist / Leftover Summery Books

I have a couple books from last year I’d like to try to get to this summer, like SANDWICH and MURDER ON CAPE COD. I’m not sure if I will but it would be great to work the backlist a little! I also would like to try out THE FIVE-STAR WEEKEND so I can watch the show/movie(?) when it comes out this summer.

Mystery Book Club

One of our book club picks this summer is a book I’ve already read so I’m just including the June and August ones here. I’m not 100% sure if I’ll be reading BY WAY OF SORROW since I don’t know if I want to read a legal thriller, but the plot does sound interesting. I’ve owned HOW TO SOLVE YOUR OWN MURDER for a long time so this will be a good excuse to get reading.
