Top Ten Tuesdays #56: Fall TBR

Ten Books on my Fall TBR List Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I like to try to read a lot of different things, across genres, formats, and where I got them from. I am utterly terrible about sticking to a TBR each month because my moods change SO much. The only “required” reading I usually have to do is if I signed up for a blog tour, for my Book Buddies review, and for my real-life book club. I’ve wanted to find a TBR format that works for me so I can still have some kind of method to my madness and I’ve been lurking on Andi’s TBR methods for a while. I decided to try it for the rest of September and October. Here are some of the categories I came up with… I tried to think of the books I genuinely want to read this fall, and what categories they may fall into. I don’t want to restrict myself too much so I did leave a freebie option or two. I filled this page with categories – 18 books – but I will most likely exceed that number between the rest of September and all of October. That gives me even more wiggle room! Now, some […]

Read-a-Thon TBR: Make Me Read It

Read-a-Thon TBR: Make Me Read It

Starts at 8:00am on July 20th and ends at 12:00am on July 27th #MakeMeRead tag on Twitter/Instagram Check out the intro pages (Val’s or Ely’s) and the rules below: Look at the books you own, either physical, e-book or ones you’ve borrowed from the library and pick out a few you really want to read, or feel like you should read. It’s up to you how many you pick, personally I’d pick a few more than you expect to be able to read in a week. Example: if you think you’ll only read two, pick out five books or if you think you can read seven, pick out ten. Make a list of these books on your blog, or make a video, or a Goodreads shelf or post a picture on Instagram—whatever is easiest for you. Then get friends, other bloggers/booktubers etc. to vote on which books you HAVE to read. When the read-a-thon comes along, you read the books in the order of most votes. For example, if one book gets 10 votes—you read that first, then the one that got 7 and so on. If there’s a tie, then it’s your preference. The goal is to read as many as possible. Votes have been tallied – here are the results! The read-a-thon is starting TOMORROW and I cut off voting a few days ago, so I could prepare myself (and this post, lol). Here are the books I’ll be reading in rank order. As the rules suggest, you […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #44: Summer TBR

Top Ten Tuesdays #44: Summer TBR

Ten Books on my Summer TBR for 2015 Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. The TTT from a few weeks ago included books I plan to throw into my beach bag this summer, so I’m going to give you a brief recap of what those books were (series/duologies represented by the first book’s cover): Aaaaand as usual I have more than 10 here, but I couldn’t resist… Everyone knows my extreme love for Dissonance by Erica O’Rourke, so obviously I am VERY excited to get my hands on Resonance when it comes out! I absolutely love that world and can’t wait to see how it all ends up. Even though I wasn’t super thrilled with Get Even by Gretchen McNeil, I DEFINITELY need to know what happens next with that ending. Get Dirty comes out this summer and I want it. And, last but not least, Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkis Reid sounds phenomenal. I have Under the Lights by Dahlia Adler for review, so I plan to read that and its predecessor (Behind the Scenes) at some point this summer. I’m excited for Anne & Henry by Dawn Ius as well, despite some of the early reviews. I’m on the blog tour for Never Always Sometimes by […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #34: TBR

Top 10 Books I Recently Added to my TBR Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books based on that week’s prompt… and then we stalk other people’s answers to add a million books to our TBR. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Links go to Goodreads or my review. I recently split my Goodreads TBR into a basic “to read” shelf for books that are already released, and a “TBR unreleased” for books that haven’t come out yet. I decided to highlight the most recent five books from each TBR here! The One that Got Away by Bethany Chase | Every Breath by Ellie Marney | Angelfall by Susan Ee | The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins | Steering the Stars by Autumn Doughton & Erica Cope | When We Collided by Emery Lord | Feminism for the Real World by Kelly Jensen | Young Widows Club by Alexandra Coutts | All the Rage by Courtney Summers

Top Ten Tuesdays #32: Spring TBR

Top Ten Tuesdays #32: Spring TBR

Top 10 Books on my Spring TBR Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books based on that week’s prompt… and then we stalk other people’s answers to add a million books to our TBR. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. This week’s topic is simple: what books we plan on reading this spring! I’ve broken mine down into a few categories. I’m hoping to get to all of the library books and the ARCs within the next month or so. I really want to read some of the others on my TBR because they’ve been on it forever. {Links take you to Goodreads!}   The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour | I love the neon colors in this cover and randomly decided to grab it from the library the last time I went. It seems cute! The Falconer by Elizabeth May | Morgan recommended this one to me when I mentioned how much I love fae books. I had no idea that this was one until she told me! I’m so excited to read this; I basically ran to the library that day and checked it out after her rec. I’m hoping to get to this one next, actually! Reunion by Hannah Pittard | I haven’t heard the best reviews for this one, but I’m still really drawn to the synopsis. I think after reading the reunion and homecoming story Nowhere But Home by Liza Palmer, this one is […]

February TBR and Books & Bloggers Swap Reveal

In honor of being home “working” on this snowy day, I had plenty of time to mess around on the computer and do bloggy things. (Primarily this means making lots of graphics for posts and trying to whittle down that 300-post Bloglovin feed!) I haven’t shared a TBR post in a few months so I figured today would be a great day – especially because of the holiday approaching this month that’s all about LOOOOVE. You can clearly see that I’m planning on packing in the contemporaries this month. I’m currently in the middle of Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard and I’m enjoying it… for the most part. I’m definitely invested in the story and interested to see what’s going to happen, but my attention span is struggling. I can only read a few pages before letting myself get distracted by the internet. I’m not sure if it’s just because January was a big fantasy month for me and I’m over it (for now), or because of the book itself. Regardless, today I started Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill and am hoping that’s a nice contemporary break. It should only take me a few sittings to finish it. I have two swoony E-ARCs to read this month too and I’m super excited! Promposal by Rhonda Helms sounds cute and right up my alley; I always am interested to hear how people get asked out to dances! “Promposals” were just starting to get big while I was in school and I […]

December TBR List and Uppercase Box #3

December TBR List and Uppercase Box #3

This is my attempt to show off what bookish goodies I got in my Uppercase box from the previous month, as well as plan out what I’m going to read for the coming month. I don’t usually do too well with planning out my TBRs and sticking to them, but I hope sharing them with you guys will make me more accountable for them 😉 Have you read any of these books? Thinking about joining Uppercase? It’s so fun! Uppercase box is a subscription service with two levels of membership. For the first level, you get an Expert Pick – this is a hand-selected book that the YA experts love and recommend. The Personalized Recommendation box, which is what I have, comes with a book selected just for YOU based on your preference quiz. The boxes are filled with: A book, either chosen specifically for your preferences OR one that is recommended by an expert A gift, like bookmarks, jewelry, totes, etc. (that obviously relate to books!) A personal explanation of the book choice and other similar titles Some discount codes for popular book-buying websites Here are my goodies from the November box! I’m so excited that I got Trust Me, I’m Lying! This one has been on my TBR but for some reason I never got around to buying it or looking into it further. It was recommended because it’s a mix of contemporary and mystery, plus I love the Pretty Little Liars series. The book will keep me guessing until the […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #17: Winter TBR

Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we give our top ten books to answer each prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Highlights from my winter TBR list! I’ve been looking forward to some of these for a while, but I am officially making the time to read them this winter! For once I have a real TBR plan. I’m going to try to keep up with it as much as possible, but still allow myself to read what I want, when I want. Without further ado, here are the ten books I’m MOST excited for on my winter TBR (lets say the books I plan to read in from now through January). Four of them are holiday reads, two of them help finish up the Private series finally, and four are just regular ol’ books I want to finally read! My True Love Gave to Me by Stephanie Perkins Even in Paradise by Chelsey Philpot Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo Ex-Mas by Kate Brian Let It Snow by John Green When Joss Met Matt by Ellie Cahill Stealing Parker by Miranda Kenneally Mistletoe by Hailey Abbott Ominous & Vengeance by Kate Brian

November TBR List and Uppercase Box #2

November TBR List and Uppercase Box #2

Today I’m going to combine two of my monthly posts – my TBR list for the month and the Uppercase box I just received! Uppercase box is a subscription service with two levels of membership. For the first level, you get an Expert Pick – this is a hand-selected book that the YA experts love and recommend. The Personalized Recommendation box, which is what I have, comes with a book selected just for YOU based on your preference quiz. The boxes are filled with: A book, either chosen specifically for your preferences OR one that is generally recommended by an expert A gift, like bookmarks, jewelry, totes, etc. (that obviously relate to books!) A personal explanation of the book choice and other similar titles Some discount codes for popular book-buying websites Here are my goodies from the October box! I’ve heard great things about Rebel Belle and was always on the fence about whether or not I’d like it. The “southern” aspect didn’t appeal too much to me because I’m a northern girl, BUT I lately have fallen head over heels for the Hundred Oaks series by Miranda Kenneally – which is all about the south! Lisa writes, “Because you enjoy paranormal reads, I knew this on was for you. It’s got a high school contemporary feel with some southern sass.” Sounds perfect for me! I’m now VERY excited for this read. The accessory is a mockingjay bracelet in honor of the Hunger Games movie coming out this month! Such a cute little […]

October TBR List

October TBR List

I’m pretty bad at sticking to my TBR list – even when I specifically put the books in order on my “To Read First” shelf. I tried my best to organize by what I want to read, since I don’t have a lot of books right now with deadlines that need to be read. (Although that could change, of course.) Here’s my somewhat flexible TBR list for October. These are the top 30 books I plan on reading or will be reading in October! * Those of you who have read the Throne of Glass series — would you recommend reading the Assasin’s Blade book of novellas first?? I’ve heard mixed thoughts on this!
