Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

I have been tagged by Amber at Young Adult Indulgences for the Sisterhood of World Bloggers Award/Tag. Thank you! <3 The Rules: Thank the blogger that nominated you and link back to their website. Post the award’s logo on your blog. Answer the ten questions you have been asked. Nominate ten other bloggers and ask them ten other questions. My Questions: What is your favorite part of blogging? My favorite part of blogging so far is the community. I had no idea that there were so many people out there who were blogging about books! When I decided to start my blog, I really had no idea what to expect. Everyone is so great and welcoming to newbies. Have you had any other blogs? Kind of. I have started a few blogs and let them fade away. In coming up with the idea for a book blog, I started up a lifestyle kind of blog that had fashion, beauty, and book posts. That blog was created and never updated. I used to have a lot of personal/journal types of blogs back in the day too. What is the biggest thing you’ve learned from book blogging? To be honest, the biggest and most surprising thing I’ve learned is that you can get free advanced copies of books! I never dreamed that it would be even possible when I started this up. Has book blogging changed your life? If so, elaborate. 🙂 I’m still new at this, so my life hasn’t changed drastically […]

December TBR List and Uppercase Box #3

December TBR List and Uppercase Box #3

This is my attempt to show off what bookish goodies I got in my Uppercase box from the previous month, as well as plan out what I’m going to read for the coming month. I don’t usually do too well with planning out my TBRs and sticking to them, but I hope sharing them with you guys will make me more accountable for them 😉 Have you read any of these books? Thinking about joining Uppercase? It’s so fun! Uppercase box is a subscription service with two levels of membership. For the first level, you get an Expert Pick – this is a hand-selected book that the YA experts love and recommend. The Personalized Recommendation box, which is what I have, comes with a book selected just for YOU based on your preference quiz. The boxes are filled with: A book, either chosen specifically for your preferences OR one that is recommended by an expert A gift, like bookmarks, jewelry, totes, etc. (that obviously relate to books!) A personal explanation of the book choice and other similar titles Some discount codes for popular book-buying websites Here are my goodies from the November box! I’m so excited that I got Trust Me, I’m Lying! This one has been on my TBR but for some reason I never got around to buying it or looking into it further. It was recommended because it’s a mix of contemporary and mystery, plus I love the Pretty Little Liars series. The book will keep me guessing until the […]

Favorite Movies & Music (Getting to Know You Blog Hop + Giveaway)

The ladies at Cuddlebuggery started up the Getting to Know You Blog Hop so that bloggers can learn a bit more about you and your blog. I decided to join up and made my post on the first day. I shared a special book series to me and offered a giveaway for one of my favorite books that I read since starting my blog. I decided to post three times about different topics so you can get to know me better! The giveaway is posted again at the bottom so you can enter if you haven’t already. 🙂 11/15 – Getting to Know You: Introduction and Special Book Series (here) 11/20 – Getting to Know You: Why I Blog and Other Hobbies (here) 11/27 – Getting to Know You: Favorite Movies and Music Favorite Movies I haven’t been that good with movies lately and it’s always hard to pick a favorite regardless! I’ll pick some favorites here based on the movie categories I like. Favorite romantic comedy: Friends with Benefits Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis are literally my favorite celebrities. They’re also two of the HOTTEST celebrities. (Zac Efron is my number three pick, in case you were curious.) Basically an entire movie that involves them having sex with each other is a win in my book. Eek. Favorite comedy: Superbad This is a hard category for me because I like soo many comedies; it’s definitely my favorite kind of movie to watch. I chose this one because it’s a serious classic and so […]

20 Things You Might Not Know About Me

20 Things You Might Not Know About Me

I’ve seen some of these circulating around the blogosphere so I thought I’d share my answers with you! 🙂  Question 1: How tall are you? I’m about 5’2″ – I like being short. My 13 year old sister is a good 3-4 inches taller than me and makes fun of me for it. Sorry gurl I’d rather be my height than yours! Question 2: Do you have a hidden talent? If so, what? LOL yeah right. Eating way too much pizza? Question 3: What’s your biggest blog-related pet peeve? Messy layouts, themes, fonts, etc. – I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to stuff like that. I need it to be cohesive and clear. Question 4: What’s your biggest non-blog related pet peeve? Just one? Lol. I think my top pet peeve would be excessive noise that I can’t control. If I can hear my neighbor doing anything I tend to get unnecessarily annoyed. Noise is a fact of life but it gives me major anxiety Question 5: What’s your favorite song? EEK. Ummmm it’s impossible to pick one favorite obviously sooooo lets just say Led Zeppelin. And Lynyrd Skynyrd. Sorry.

I’ve always loved writing and the idea of having a blog, but I just never had anything that I knew enough about to blog about. I tried to start a beauty blog when I got into makeup, but I barely know anything about it. I tried to start a fashion blog to show basic outfits you can make, since I’m obsessive about what I wear and when, but that wasn’t for me either. Bookmark Lit was originally created as a “book review and lifestyle blog,” but I couldn’t even think about what kind of lifestyle posts to include. I decided to stick to what […]

Getting to Know You BLOG HOP + Giveaway

The lovely ladies over at Cuddlebuggery got a beautiful new look for their blog, came back from hiatus, and started up the GETTING TO KNOW YOU Blog Hop! This blog hop is specifically to get to know bloggers and help build a strong community. “This blog hop is to let people know a little about yourself and who you are and to get your name out there! Post ideas include other hobbies you enjoy, favorite movies or music, why you decided to start blogging/writing or anything else you feel comfortable sharing. And since this is a bookish community, please share a book or series that’s special to you.” This post is one of three that I’ll be having over the course of the Blog Hop! I don’t post too much personal information, and since my blog is fairly new, maybe some of you would like a chance to get to know me better. Here’s my schedule of the posts and what info they’ll be featuring: 11/15 – Getting to Know You: Introduction and Special Book Series 11/20 – Getting to Know You: Why I Blog and Other Hobbies 11/27 – Getting to Know You: Favorite Movies and Music I’ve talked before about how the Pretty Little Liars series by Sara Shepard is incredibly special to me. I read a lot of books in middle school and early high school, but very few hooked me quite like PLL did. Remember, this was LONG before there was a TV show. Each time one of […]

November TBR List and Uppercase Box #2

November TBR List and Uppercase Box #2

Today I’m going to combine two of my monthly posts – my TBR list for the month and the Uppercase box I just received! Uppercase box is a subscription service with two levels of membership. For the first level, you get an Expert Pick – this is a hand-selected book that the YA experts love and recommend. The Personalized Recommendation box, which is what I have, comes with a book selected just for YOU based on your preference quiz. The boxes are filled with: A book, either chosen specifically for your preferences OR one that is generally recommended by an expert A gift, like bookmarks, jewelry, totes, etc. (that obviously relate to books!) A personal explanation of the book choice and other similar titles Some discount codes for popular book-buying websites Here are my goodies from the October box! I’ve heard great things about Rebel Belle and was always on the fence about whether or not I’d like it. The “southern” aspect didn’t appeal too much to me because I’m a northern girl, BUT I lately have fallen head over heels for the Hundred Oaks series by Miranda Kenneally – which is all about the south! Lisa writes, “Because you enjoy paranormal reads, I knew this on was for you. It’s got a high school contemporary feel with some southern sass.” Sounds perfect for me! I’m now VERY excited for this read. The accessory is a mockingjay bracelet in honor of the Hunger Games movie coming out this month! Such a cute little […]

The GIF Tag

The GIF Tag

I’ve seen this around the blogosphere and have been dying to work on it. Utterly Bookish, who “tagged” everyone who read her post, compiled this list. I’ve recently becoming obsessed with gifs so this took me way longer than necessary. Regardless, here are my gif reactions to these books! 1. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas  Yeah don’t hate me but I haven’t read this yet. I plan to ASAP but my TBR keeps getting crazier and crazier… I keep promising people I’ll read it this month but IDK 2. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor Another one where my TBR is out of control. I want to read this series too but am too overwhelmed. TOO MANY BOOKS TOO MANY SERIES 3. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray One of my favorite series FOR SURE FOR SURE. I love you Libba 4. Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare I was fairly interested in starting this series at some point but I don’t know if I’ll ever have time at this point. I actually got most of the books in a cheap used bookstore and they’re just sitting on my shelf… 5. The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen This book is definitely one of my favorite older contemporaries. Sarah Dessen holds a spot in my heart forever for getting me into the genre <3

Introducing: Book Buddies!

Introducing: Book Buddies!

After expressing an interest in finding a “reading buddy,” I had quite a few people apply to join me! It was a hard decision because I really wanted to partner with everyone, but I knew I would be taking on too much. I decided to partner up with two of the bloggers who applied. I do plan to do something with everyone who applied, because this really was a hard choice – keep an eye out from me in the future! Who are my buddies? Cristina from Girl in the Pages  ||  Cristina has such a cute blog that I’ve admired for a while! As you can tell, I’m a big fan of using hearts everywhere on my blog too 😉  She posts incredibly insightful and thought-out reviews. Our TBR lists look really compatible and she brought up some great ideas I hadn’t considered yet for Book Buddies. Cristina and I will focus on standalones and seasonal reads. You can see our partner posts in October, December, February, April, June, and August! Kaitlin from Next Page Please!  ||  Kaitlin reads a lot of the same books as I do and cleverly splits her reviews into a Non-Spoiler and Spoiler section; I love this when I’m reading the review for a book I’ve already read! She suggested some books I’ve wanted to read for a while, so hopefully we can cross those off our TBR lists finally! Kaitlin and I will be embarking on a couple of series reads together. You can see our […]
