Holiday Decor Home Tour

I try to share my super basic holiday decor each season, and this year is no exception! It’s very similar to last year but we managed to move a few things around differently. I also added a couple other decor elements after consulting with Chris that we were just missing a little something. He’s very much a “we’ll do Christmas after Thanksgiving” kind of person, while I prefer to start on November 1st, so we usually compromise a bit. I’ll watch my movies and listen to music all throughout November and we decorate our house during Thanksgiving weekend (last year it was riiiiight before Thanksgiving lol). So! Here’s what we did over the previous weekend.

I would have put the tree up so much earlier but refrained! Chris and I headed to the local farm we went to last year – Cropley’s – to pick out our tree. We had a lot of success in 2018 because we got a much larger tree for the price, based on the size range for each price range at the farm. We spent a little more this year, which annoyed us, but the tree we got is virtually perfect! We put it in our stand on Saturday after Thanksgiving and then had a million errands (and a birthday party) to attend/do. So, we spent our Sunday morning decorating before football! It actually snowed on December 1st up here too, so having the Christmas tree up with the lights during a snowy football Sunday/end of a long weekend was GLORIOUS. This is the tree when you first walk in the front door, plus a shot of the tree as it stands next to the TV (we watched Noelle on Disney+ and football on the iPad!).

We have a small snowman and light-up Christmas gift that go on top of the bookshelf. We always have a string of fairy lights from the ceiling in that part of our living room, so the present plugs right into the end! We turn all of our lights on at once, including the tree, during this time of year. Everything’s nicely connected. We have a little Christmas countdown and Merry Christmas wooden sign in one of the windows near the couch. We also have a small colorful tree garland above our staircase (ignore the cute coats in the background). I chose this weird angle because I have a snowman-themed snowglobe and a silver Merry Christmas sign on top of the small bookshelf by the stairs.

Our kitchen table has a piece of decor that my nana sewed back in the day, and we put our Charlie Brown Christmas tree in the center! That’s one of my favorite purchases from Five Below EVER. In the other window facing the street, we have a small string of Christmassy lights that have a battery pack to light up. There’s snow and a small tree inside each bulb. Underneath that in the windowsill, we have another wooden Christmas sign with Santa. We also have a small fake poinsettia on the stairs.

  1. I love your decorations and this post!! And I’m like you, I put fall/Halloween up the first week of September and Christmas/Hanukkah the first week of November haha. I like to enjoy it for as long as possible! Your tree is soooo pretty and I love all of the lights 🙂 I added a few new pieces to my decor this year as well and I’m super happy with it! I’ll have to post pics soon.
