April TBR

Posted March 31, 2023 / Book Lists, Features, TBR Lists / 0 Comments

My monthly TBR feature here shows my progress based on last month’s TBR, my plans for this month, and anything else I might be thinking about from a reading perspective. Sometimes I feature a little poll at the bottom so you guys can help me figure out a certain title I should read from a group of books.

April TBR

March was my best month of the year and I was already off to a great start. I kept hoping I could crack 10 books in a month since I’ve read 9 each of the previous! I’m excited because I hope to read a few fantasy and/or dense books this year and it’s lovely to have a cushion and be ahead of my challenge to do so. I have a few readathons scheduled for this month so there’s a good chance April will also be a big month of reading!

Readathon Books

I’ve been really looking for some fun readathons lately and I always discover them one or two days too late! I managed to stumble into a few for the end of March into April so I thought I would share them here. (I’ll be reading a couple of books for Lala-thon as a channel member but that goes from March 29-31.)

Flowerathon (April 7-9): I saw Rachel from Happy Go Lovely Sleeves is hosting a readathon where you read books with flowers on the cover… very easy for me 😉 Hoping to finish two books for this one – MARPLE (short story collection based on Agatha Christie) and RETURN TO HUMMINGBIRD WAY. As usual, one mystery and one contemp at the same time. Also including THE SPRITE AND THE GARDENER in case I get to three!

Spring Fling Readathon (April 15-16): I joined Liv’s Library on Patreon and the first readathon is happening in April. The spring theme features reading a book with flowers or plants on the cover, a spring graphic novel, and a cute romance book. I plan to read A SPRINKLING OF MURDER because of the plants/flowers on the cover *and* it’s the April read for one of the cozy mystery book clubs. My only issue is that I don’t remember which one and they haven’t posted about it on the main feed yet at the time of writing this lol. THE MOTH KEEPER will be my graphic novel pick. It took me a while to find a romance because I wanted to read a physical copy (since the other two books will be digitally read) – I think I’ll go with ON A NIGHT LIKE THIS…unless I buy another romance or get one from the library in between!

Review Copies

I did fairly well with review copies. I got into a rhythm where I would be reading a mystery/thriller has a physical copy while reading a romance book on my Kindle, so I never managed to finish things off and read VERA WONG. I’ve heard good things so really hoping to in April! ANA TAKES MANHATTAN is leftover from March as well. I have RETURN TO HUMMINGBIRD WAY up above in one of my readathon TBRs but that’s also a review copy. I think it’s a stretch but IN NIGHTFALL would be great to read in April too. And finally, there’s a decent chance I finally dive into MEET ME AT THE LAKE because I can’t wait any longer 😉

Misc. Books

Okay this is a miscellaneous section but I really hope to read some of these books in the near future! April is looking incredibly aggressive right now so let’s see what happens. All I know is that I’ve been super in the mood for all four of these books and really would love to get to them. Here are the books and their formats: WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME (Hoopla), PROJECT HAIL MARY (audio/physical combo), LEGENDS AND LATTES (audio/physical combo), and THE AGATHAS (physical).

Library Books

Here’s my updated collection of library books right now. I’ve been really in a fantasy mood lately so I’m hoping to finally get to BABEL (depending on how other fantasy reading or rereading goes… I’ve been thinking of rereading THRONE OF GLASS so I can catch up and finish off the final few books in the series). I’d like to read WHAT STAYS BURIED and possibly THE ESCAPE ROOM or DAISY DARKER. I’ve had that last one checked out for so long and I should really try to read it…
