Non-Book Freebie: Recent TV Shows
Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review.
I usually enjoy sharing personal things on the blog but it’s been a while since I have! I thought for this non-bookish freebie that I would share some shows that I’ve recently watched… and whether or not I’d recommend them! My husband and I have been really bad about finishing shows lately. We also haven’t even tuned in to the new season of TED LASSO yet!
Currently Watching & Rewatching
Community // This is one of my top favorite TV shows and we’re in the middle of rewatching! We wanted to prepare for the movie and refresh our memories on what happened. I definitely missed these characters and could see myself revisiting this way more often, like I do with Friends.
Party Down // We watched this show during Covid and they announced a reboot soon after we finished. We’ve watched a few episodes of the new season and it’s good so far! Definitely fun callbacks and great characters. Hopefully we get back into it because we’re a few behind as of now.
Reno 911 // Chris loves this show and I’ve never seen it so we’ve been watching it on and off. It’s the kind of show that we just put on for a few episodes when multi-tasking or we want mindless TV
Beef // We just started this Netflix show starring two of our favorites – it’s super intense and darkly funny so far! I’d highly recommend it but I’m not sure how it would resonate with a wider audience haha. Definitely the epitome of a dark comedy. We tend to love everything A24 does though.
Daisy Jones and the Six // Of course I’m watching this! And by that I mean… I watched the first episode when it came out and haven’t picked it up since. I plan to! I just haven’t been interested in TV by myself. Usually we watch shows together and when I’m alone, I’m watching YouTube.
Recently Completed
Poker Face // We watched this religiously each week when it came out and really miss it! I think we have a bit of a show hangover from it because that’s part of the reason we’re not really in the middle of anything serious right now, aside from Beef. Absolutely loved every single element of this show and can’t wait for the next season!
The Last of Us // Basically copy and paste what you see above – loved everything, major TV show hangover, haven’t watched anything else because this was too good. Man, I miss it.
That 90s Show // I had low expectations but was excited for this show and I have to say, it was way better than expected! The kids were a little too cheesy in the first few episodes but they all really settled in to the script and their characters from then on. Loved the cameos (not enough though!) and Red and Kitty are very excellent and necessary to keep the show moving IMO.
Kaleidoscope // We watched this ASAP like many other people and it was pretty good. I think the concept of being able to watch the show in any episode order (minus one specific episode to end the series with) was more interesting than the actual show? I liked going back and forth in time and seeing how things got revealed, but it wasn’t overly amazing or anything.
Ink Master // We watched the reboot with the new host/judges and really enjoyed it, so we went back to also watch all of the seasons we’d missed! We used to watch it every week when it was on and then fell off for a few years, so it was great to go back and catch up too.
