My monthly TBR feature here shows my progress based on last month’s TBR, my plans for this month, and anything else I might be thinking about from a reading perspective. Sometimes I feature a little poll at the bottom so you guys can help me figure out a certain title I should read from a group of books.
July TBR
My goal for this summer – and ideally June if I could help it – was to get back on track for my reading challenge. There was a small series of summery KU novellas I was hoping to read in order to achieve this goal as soon as possible and I did manage to read all of those in June!
Summerween

This year’s summerween begins July 3rd and I’m really hoping to get some great reading done on the beach in Maine like I usually do for Summerween! We’ll be going up on the 1st to visit my parents and returning on the 6th, so there will be at least a couple/few beach days in there, along with reading on their patio. Just need my dogs to be lazy and cooperative by laying around in the sun 😉
- Read a book in the dark or at night: I usually pick a Kindle book for this one and I currently have HEATHER on hold from Libby. Unfortunately I also got impatient and bought a physical copy lol. I also have HOT GIRL MURDER CLUB as a bonus option for this prompt since that is actually on my Kindle as we speak
- Read a thriller or horror book: SUMMER’S NEVER OVER is a book I recently got from a book box that is a thriller across a couple of timelines. This could easily be swapped for whatever book I’m in the mood for, but perhaps this one will make the trip to Maine with me. If I end up only bringing my Kindle, I could apply HOT GIRL MURDER CLUB too
- Read a new-to-you author: IF BOOKS COULD KILL is a debut author I believe and it seems like it will be a nice way to break up the mystery/thriller-heavy TBR that I always focus on with something that apparently is kind of a rom-com too?
- Read a book with pink on the cover: I wanted to read LIES BETWEEN US last month but I just never got to it based on what I was reading on my Kindle at the time. This is a good one for pink on the cover while staying in the Summerween theme
- Read a book under 250 pages: The 6th EMMA LION book is the obvious option here, despite the genre. This is also the only upcoming book in the final three that is actually under 250 pages
Review Copies

The release date for ROMANTIC HERO completely crept up on me and unfortunately I didn’t get to it in time, despite being super excited about it. I absolutely LOVED Greenwood’s debut. As for July releases, I will be trying to prioritize FOSSIL FEUD, DESTINATION FUNERAL, and BOOK CLUB BOYFRIEND.
New/Recent Releases incl. Preorders

I started reading HEARTSTOPPER much later than everyone else so I can’t complain about the release date like others might, but I did preorder the final installment to enjoy immediately when it comes out. I feel like I haven’t read a Christina Lauren in a long time so this normal non-Disney/non-novella release is a long time coming. There’s no way I don’t read THE ROMANCE REVIVAL the minute it arrives. I’m also leaving THE SUMMER OF LOST THINGS because I’m determined to read this sweet romance this summer.
Series Binge

I actually skipped Emma in June, which was probably the right choice. I think I needed a break. Maybe I’ll feel revived in July and want to bang out a book or two. My goal is definitely to finish these by the end of the year, ideally early fall.
Recent Acquisitions or Backlist

This is a mix of owned books that I’ve acquired this year so far, either from older preorders in past months or from indie bookstore shopping. I have a summer TBR and summer challenge post that I could also pull books from.

I like the idea of a July TBR. Any particular books you’re most looking forward to?
