April TBR

My monthly TBR feature here shows my progress based on last month’s TBR, my plans for this month, and anything else I might be thinking about from a reading perspective. Sometimes I feature a little poll at the bottom so you guys can help me figure out a certain title I should read from a group of books. April TBR I was horrible with reading yet again in March, but I did largely stick to my TBR! Still a ton of owned books to read and now the library holds keep rolling in too. I feel good about my April reading life because I have two cookbooks coming that will catch me up on my currently-behind Goodreads challenge. Owned Books/Audiobooks to Read Yep, these three guys are still here. I do hope to read them sometime in 2021 haha. MAJSETY, SEX AND VANITY, and INSTANT KARMA are all available to me by hard copy and audiobook, so hopefully I can at least read ONE in April?! I’m also moving ACOSF up here because I am still freaking reading it. It’s huge! And other books keep calling my name! Hopefully I can crank through and finish soon. Review Copies   I read four of the six review copies I featured here last month, and focused on the three publishing within the month! *pats self on back* I’m leaving THE SUMMER COTTAGE (May pub) and OF PRINCES AND PROMISES (June pub) because I hope to keep getting ahead on review copies as […]

March TBR

My monthly TBR feature here shows my progress based on last month’s TBR, my plans for this month, and anything else I might be thinking about from a reading perspective. Sometimes I feature a little poll at the bottom so you guys can help me figure out a certain title I should read from a group of books. March TBR I finally got a TBR post up and running in time! There are a ton of books on here, including holdovers from last month and a bunch of review copies, so we’ll see how I fare. I did a good job of reading most of the review copies I promised last time… Owned Books/Audiobooks to Read Yet again: repeats from previous months. Good lord, Lauren. Please read one of these books. INSTANT KARMA, SEX AND VANITY, and MAJESTY are all physical copies I have, plus the first and third are audiobooks I could listen to either on Scribd or Libro.fm. Review Copies I posted an egalley reading plan the other day to inspire me to read my review copies within a reasonable amount of time. FLOAT PLAN, ACCIDENTALLY ENGAGED, AND IT’S KIND OF A CHEESY LOVE STORY are all books publishing in March. THE SUMMER COTTAGE and TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT publish in May and OF PRINCES AND PROMISES comes out in June, but I know I’ll want to read it as soon as possible. Library Books I posted a Library Love post the other day that outlines all of […]

2021 Popsugar Challenge Potential TBR

2021 Popsugar Challenge Potential TBR

I’ve posted ideas for this challenge each year that I’ve participated in it. I’ve taken different approaches to it but it primarily serves as a jumping off point for me (and maybe others) to think of books that fit certain prompts. I tend to fill out this challenge as I go, when I read a book and then check the list to see if it fits something, but sometimes I need a little inspiration. Published in 2021 This one is honestly too easy for most people. I’m not even going to suggest any books because I’m sure the majority of people have something for this on their TBR 😉 Afrofuturist Books in this genre “addresses themes and concerns of the African diaspora through technoculture and science fiction” according to Wikipedia. SLAY was on my TBR already and seems to fit the prompt, per the author! I’m really excited about this one. Heart, diamond, club, spade on cover I did a whole post on hearts on book covers for the Valentines Day TTT so check that out for some heart-based image ideas. Knowing me, that’s the direction I’ll go. I’m putting THE HEART PRINCIPLE here because I missed it on my post and it’s probably the one I’m most excited about reading this year. Author with same zodiac sign as you Apparently there are a ton of great Virgo authors! I still have two books to read by Angie Thomas (featuring CONCRETE ROSE here) and a ton of Agatha Christie books […]

February TBR

My monthly TBR feature here shows my progress based on last month’s TBR, my plans for this month, and anything else I might be thinking about from a reading perspective. Sometimes I feature a little poll at the bottom so you guys can help me figure out a certain title I should read from a group of books. February TBR Another late TBR post, but here we go. There are a lot of books carrying over AS USUAL but I finally admitted defeat on a few. They’re just going to get bumped off for now. Owned Books to Read All repeats from January and/or February. Whoops. I really hope to get to INSTANT KARMA since Scribd has an audiobook too. I have SEX AND VANITY (physical copy) and MAJESTY (ebook) too, which I’m excited for… but just lazy because they’re long or physical copies. Review Copies I made it my goal to read three egalleys ahead of their pub dates to get them up and running. A PHO LOVE STORY was just published this week so you’ll see that coming here soon. I started reading THE PROJECT last month but it’s taken me a little while. ACCIDENTALLY ENGAGED is coming next month. SNAPPED is another holdover from last year so we’ll see… ugh. Library Books I currently have VANESSA YU’S MAGICAL PARIS TEA SHOP out from the library and the other two (ACROSS THE GREEN GRASS FIELDS and A VOW SO BOLD AND DEADLY) are out on hold. I have […]

Whipping Netgalley into Shape – 80% Here I Come

Whipping Netgalley into Shape – 80% Here I Come

I wrote in my recent resolutions post that I really want to get my Negalley ratio up to 80%. I’m pretty proud of myself for currently being at 74% – that’s honestly quite a good number! I thought it would be fun and motivational for me to take a look at the egalleys I have on my Kindle, pick out 15 that I definitely still want to read, and develop a little TBR. A few are not released yet and I have real plans to read them ahead of their pub date. I’m going to attempt to not request any more books unless they’re ones I’d read literally ASAP when approved! This is obviously also not an exhaustive list of egalleys I have or books that are coming out soon, more just like ones to get excited about finally reading! Not Published Yet I’m actually reading REUNITED ON DRAGONFLY LANE this week! I’m so bummed to leave Sweetwater Springs behind but her next series sounds just as atmospheric. LIFE’S TOO SHORT is the final book following these characters and I loved the second book (compared to the first) so hopefully this one is just as good. A PHO LOVE STORY – man, I literally remember when this was announced and I was so so so excited. The fact that it’s been on my Kindle for months and I still haven’t read it super early??? Dang. And THE MEET-CUTE PROJECT comes out very soon. Gotta get going on it. Backlist I […]

January TBR

My monthly TBR feature here shows my progress based on last month’s TBR, my plans for this month, and anything else I might be thinking about from a reading perspective. Sometimes I feature a little poll at the bottom so you guys can help me figure out a certain title I should read from a group of books. January TBR I completely forgot to make a TBR for January since I didn’t technically post/write one in December – I kept my EOY TBR for both months including all of the holiday books I wanted to read. I always feel very refreshed at the start of the year but am still carrying over some books I wanted to read in December. Owned Books to Read The first four books in this section are from December. I was hoping to read them but holiday books got in the way. I own physical copies of all of these (KISS MY CUPCAKE, SEX AND VANITY, MAJESTY, and INSTANT KARMA), plus I got a copy of THE WIFE UPSTAIRS from Book of the Month. Review Copies I fine-tuned this list a bit because I have some that I’m really excited for and hope to get to this month. SNAPPED already came out and A PHO LOVE STORY is upcoming. REUINTED ON DRAGONFLY LANE is a late Jauary release. SANDCASTLE BEACH (currently reading at the time of finally writing this post!) doesn’t come out for a few months. I just knew I needed to read some […]

Holidays 2020 | To Read & Watch, Readathons, Etc.

Usually I’m getting jazzed up for Christmas in September and forcing myself to wait until at least Halloween, but this year I’ve been feeling weird! I’m not super duper into the holiday spirit like I expected, post-Halloween. I’ve been listening to my holiday music since 11/1 and hopefully reading some holiday books at the end of the month PLUS decorating this week will be helpful. Here we go – onto the usual holiday fun and plans! I’ve already read two holiday books (the two novellas below) and some of these are review copies. I thought it made more sense to hire new releases since I’m generally focusing on them! I’m looking forward to reading A Princess for Christmas because Jenny Holiday has become a go-to author for me. There are a lot of books involving twelve things – The Twelve Dogs of Christmas, 12 Men for Christmas, and The Twelve Dates of Christmas. All sound great! I have review copies for the dog one, as well as In a Holidaze and Season of Joy. I read Booked for Christmas and The Christmas Wish already. The latter is a series-starter so I may read the first book and then read A Very Merry Match after. Two of my favorite holiday authors are at it again, so I’ll be reading Christmas at Fireside Cabins and Christmas at Holiday House. Finally, I just hope to read One Way or Another because it sounds cute. Christmas in Vermont // Christmas Camp // Christmas Shopaholic Prince in Disguise // 25 Days til Christmas // We Met in December Most, if not all? of […]

EOY (November & December) TBR

My monthly TBR feature here shows my progress based on last month’s TBR, my plans for this month, and anything else I might be thinking about from a reading perspective. Sometimes I feature a little poll at the bottom so you guys can help me figure out a certain title I should read from a group of books. November & December – End-of-Year TBR When I realized I had an even thirty books to read in the last two months – wooooof – I thought it would be helpful to just list out what those books might be, based on a few different categories. I have a ton of holiday books, as always, plus leftover egalleys, owned books, and other recent released I’d like to get to. there are a few extras because I never know what mood will strike. Here we go! Holiday Reads I actually already finished BOOKED FOR CHRISTMAS and THE CHRISTMAS WISH. They’re novellas so I thought it’d be nice to kick off November with two quick reads right off the bat. IN A HOLIDAZE and SEASON OF JOY are both review copies. CHRISTMAS AT HOLIDAY HOUSE is a must-read as the next book in the Haven Point series. THE TWELVE DATES OF CHRISTMAS is a preorder I have coming soon from Vroman’s (an indie bookstore that needed our help!). CHRISTMAS AT FIRESIDE CABINS is the newest Christmas book from Jenny Hale, so you know that’s on my list. The last three below are new releases […]

October TBR

My monthly TBR feature here shows my progress based on last month’s TBR, my plans for this month, and anything else I might be thinking about from a reading perspective. Sometimes I feature a little poll at the bottom so you guys can help me figure out a certain title I should read from a group of books. ARCs I had WELL PLAYED and THE BLACK KIDS on here last month but good lord, my reading is so terrible. I have so many egalleys I’m behind on that I really need to get my shit together. I’m also adding TODAY TONIGHT TOMORROW because I’ve been in the mood to finally pick it up. For the sake of variety, I’m adding SNAPPED, LOVE YOUR LIFE, and SORRY NOT SORRY as more ARC options for the month of October. All of these are adult contemporary or rom-coms so hopefully they’ll keep me going. Recent Releases – Owned I spoke about KISS MY CUPCAKE and SEX AND VANITY last month but didn’t get to them. I wasn’t sure if I would purchase MAJESTY, but I ended up snagging the ebook. Add it to the list of books I now own and need to read! Woof. Get a grip, Lauren! Recent Releases – To Buy/Borrow I know I want to read DEAR JUSTYCE as soon as possible because I loved DEAR MARTIN. I’m sure it’ll be quick and powerful at the same time. As for other somewhat recent releases that I hope to buy […]

September TBR

My monthly TBR feature here shows my progress based on last month’s TBR, my plans for this month, and anything else I might be thinking about from a reading perspective. Sometimes I feature a little poll at the bottom so you guys can help me figure out a certain title I should read from a group of books. ARCs I have a handful of egalleys I should read, but I think these are the ones I’m most likely to target. WELL PLAYED comes out soonish so it’d be good to be more on top of things lol. YOU HAVE A MATCH comes out next year, whoops, but I can’t wait much longer to read a new Emma Lord. And finally, THE BLACK KIDS came out last month and I want to get to it. Recent Releases – Owned I bought a lot of books over the last few months, which is different for me, but I hope to read them soon. KISS MY CUPCAKE is by a favorite author and I can’t wait to dive in! SEX AND VANITY is the latest from Kevin Kwan – I’ve been curious to read more since his first series. SUMMER AT LAKE HAVEN obviously continues the Haven Point series that I love so much. And lastly, I’m currently reading THE INHERITANCE GAMES. I love Jennifer Lynn Barnes and a friend helped me borrow an ARC of this one, so I’m reading it now. It just came out yesterday. Recent Releases – To Buy/Borrow […]
