The Cookie Book Tag

I saw this tag over on Chasm of Books and thought I should give it a try! It’s been way too long since I’ve done a book tag and I am currently still savoring my Girl Scout cookies, so why not?! It was created originally by Sorry I’m Booked. Chocolate Chip: a classic book that you love or really enjoyed I don’t read a lot of classics and frankly have barely liked most of them. Can we all accept the fact that Harry Potter can probably be considered a classic now?? Hopefully? Because that’s really the best answer I have for this one. I like The Great Gatsby too though… Thin Mints: a fandom you really want to join or a hyped book you want to read There are a lot of books and series out there that I’ve been sleeping on or never had the chance to read. I wasn’t into the whole Mortal Instruments thing for some strange reason back in the day. My reading buddies at the time all loved it and for some reason I never read them. I wish now, even though it seems a bit crazy, I read them so I could keep reading all the new releases. It feels like the kind of series that gets you with the nostalgia factor and I don’t know that it’d hold up for me to start now. Shortbread: an author you can’t get enough of I have yet to be disappointed by Emma Mills. She just writes the […]

End of the Year Book Tag

End of the Year Book Tag

End of the Year Book Tag Yet again, I’m here to follow in Madalyn’s footsteps with a book tag! This tag was created last year by Ariel Bissett and it’s about reading goals for the remainder of the year. Here we go! Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?    I’m actually pretty good about finishing up “current reads” in a timely-ish manner. The longest I might take to read a book is about a month, if I end up putting it aside or trying the audiobook over a period of time. I also ALWAYS complete all my books by the last day of December. I don’t like bringing books over into the new year, even though I’m not a big ~New Year~ kind of gal. In any case, I’ll answer with this: there’s a certain SERIES I would love to finish before the end of the year – the Rose Gardner series by Denise Grover Swank. Just three books left, hopefully to squeeze in between December holiday reads! Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year? I typically read more fantasy books in the colder weather – something about curling up and falling into another world just works in the winter. I have a few on my TBR that could be good transition books. I have to read Archenemies by Marissa Meyer for my December book club meeting, so this is probably is a good enough answer. Is there a new release […]

Briggs Book Tag

Briggs Book Tag

Myers-Briggs Personality Test Tag I saw this post on Madalyn’s blog and knew I had to participate. It was originally created by Jaded Reader, The test will vary based on YOUR personal results. There are 16 distinct personality types when you take the test, so the questions are different depending on what your characterization is. You can find the full tag instructions and all of the questions in this document! The last time I took the Myers-Briggs personality test (you can do so here if needed!) was in 2014, so I figured I’d take it again to get updated results. Well, apparently people don’t change much, because I got the exact same thing. I’m a DEFENDER (ISFJ-T).  Defenders are true altruists, meeting kindness with kindness-in-excess and engaging the work and people they believe in with enthusiasm and generosity. You can see the result breakdown on the left and one of the main quotes from my results above – I think it’s pretty accurate! My tag answers are below and don’t forget to check the document for your individualized questions if you decide to participate. INTROVERT: ( I ) You can be outgoing, but need to recharge with some calming solitude, Where is your favorite place to read & unwind? Why is this little oasis where you choose to go? My favorite places to read are usually outdoors when the weather is nice. This could be literally anywhere – on my porch, on the beach, in or around the pool, in a park somewhere… […]

The Queer Eye Book Tag

The Queer Eye Book Tag

This tag was created by Ayla @ Books and Babbles and I saw it for the first time on Of Wonderland! (Banner above created by me.) I loveeee Queer Eye (so much that I’m hoarding the second season episodes a bit, watching them sloooowly over time, because I binged the first season in one sitting). I’ve been looking for a new book tag to complete for this month and this definitely fit the bill. How it works: the book tag consists of five categories for each member of the Fab Five. For each category, you pick a book (or more!) that come to mind to match the category. Then, there’s a category at the bottom inspired by the #QEHipTips at the end of the episodes – here called #QEBookTip. You recommend your favorite queer books. Food & Wine ||| Antoni Even though Antoni makes some silly food items at times, he’s the cutest and I love him so much. Look at that face ugh I stan. ANYWAYS, the food topic was bound to be the easiest for me on here! So many books I read make me crave something specific, and I’m highlighting three of the top ones below.     To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han | I have to include this one, in honor of the movie debuting on Netflix this month! This trilogy always made me crave cookies and I’m not the biggest sweet tooth (compared to many of my friends/most people!). I suck at baking and never […]

Love, Simon Book Tag

Love, Simon Book Tag

I was tagged by Madalyn after basically bothering her twice to tag me in it. Whoops? I’m SO EXCITED because this book and movie are woooonderful. Need to read/watch again for sure. My sister and I saw it as soon as we could (when I was back in town) and swooned nonstop!      “I like your boots” | Talk about a cringey book romance If I Fix You by Abigail Johnson This one was tough because there are a few ways to take this. The lighter one is just that the romance was sooo cheesy that it made me cringe. The second, heavier way would be to focus on a problematic romance that made cringe. I decided to go with a book that, to me, featured a little bit of both. There were two romantic prospects that were problematic in various ways, plus the level of cheesiness in the romance plots made me cringe constantly. No thank you to 90% of this book. Liberal University | Shout out your favorite diverse book The Names They Gave Us by Emery Lord So the reason I’m specifically calling this book out is because it somewhat changed my opinion on religion in some ways? I am very much not a religious person, was raised with the complete opposite belief system from both of my parents, and have tended to be slightly judgmental on that front in the past. I don’t like books involving religion for a litany of reasons, but this was wonderful. […]

A-Z Book Survey, Round Two

I did this book tag/survey from Jamie at The Perpetual Page-Turner WAY BACK in 2014 when I first started my blog. My answers were obviously quite different and I don’t even really want to link to it because good lord, the graphics from then make me cringe. In my quest for finding a fun book tag to do for today, I wanted to redo this one with updated answers! Author you’ve read the most books from: Thank you Goodreads, for making this very easy. I’ve read the most books from Sara Shepard, which is truly the least surprising news ever. I’ve read THIRTY-TWO books by her because I’ve read each of her super-long series and a lot of the standalones as well. This number continues to increase. Best Sequel Ever: I think the best sequel is probably a toss-up between PS I Still Love You by Jenny Han (5 stars, same as TATBILB) The Long Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (5 stars, which is actually more than book #1), or Rebel Angels by Libba Bray (5 stars, also up from the first book in the series). I also totally did this by only looking at the second book in a series as the sequel because otherwise it’d take me forever to investigate my archives. Currently Reading: I’m writing this on April 6th, so I’m currently reading The Chaos of Standing Still by Jessica Brody (also mixing in the audiobook sometimes) and Infamous by Alyson Noel. The latter is the final book in the trilogy and I’m so pumped Scribd had […]
