Bookmark Lit Bulletin – February 2016

The Bookmark Lit Bulletin was created to wrap up each month and prepare for the next. I share my life happenings, book haul, books I read and reviewed, posts I shared, challenge updates, and more from the previous month. I also let you know what may be coming up on the blog in the coming month. You can read past bulletins here and learn more about the feature here. I had a busy end of the month and had to read a bunch of ARCs in a row. (I love ARC tours but man, they add up quickly! Back to back to back.) I made some good progress on my reading challenges as well. Overall, enjoyed pretty much every book I read! Love when that happens. Average rating for books read in February: 4.0 stars Highlights of the best and worst… Best of the Best  |  Pleasantly Surprised  |  Disappointed  All of the books read this month: Average rating for books reviewed in February: 4.07 stars Secret Sister Project My new Secret Sister sent me her first package! She chose the theme of things I love, to represent Valentine’s Day… and she nailed it! I got some Star Wars stuff (calendar and keychain), as well as some of my favorite candies (chocolate covered cherries, chocolate + raspberry truffles, and gummies). She also sent along How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffany Debartolo, which is one of her favorites. I’ve been really looking forward to that one! I also ate so much candy immediately. I don’t know what was going on at the beginning of the month, but I couldn’t stop reading! I read quite a few addicting ebooks in a row and just never let up for the first half of January. I did try to slow it down a little towards the end of the month because my resolutions told me to! Average rating for books read in January: 4.12 stars Highlights of the best and worst… Best of the Best  |  Pleasantly Surprised  |  Disappointed  All of the books read this month: Average rating for books reviewed in January: 3.65 stars Secret Sister Project The last fabulous package from my Secret Sister came this month. She also revealed herself to me – Ashley from The Quiet Concert! She’s done such an amazing job of surprising me each month and really getting things I’d love. This package was no exception – two books I’ve been really wanting for a long time, actually – Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella and The Catastrophic History of You and Me  by Jess Rothenberg. She also got some fuzzy socks, an ornament shaped like an L, cupcake […]

I’m damn surprised at how much I killed it this month. I couldn’t stop reading. I managed to read 11 books in the first half of the month alone… and one of them was over 800 pages long! I also let you know what may be coming up on the blog in the coming month. You can read past bulletins here and learn more about the feature here. The Bookmark Lit Bulletin is a bit early this month! Why? Because I have so much shit already planned this week! AND, I have a special wrap-up post coming on July 1st because that’ll be the official halfway-through-the-year point. I have a Mid-Year Blogging Update planned, so the BL Bulletin will be missing some info this time around 😉June was just as crazy as May, folks. We had friends come visit one weekend, went to the drive-in movies, and went swimming at Chris’s parents house. This past weekend was more relaxing because we finally didn’t have ANY plans… BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY this month, we went to Chicago! (We actually went to Schaumberg, to be precise.) We went to Brickworld, which is one of the biggest Lego conventions in the world. We attended some panel discussions, presentations, set drafts, and a charity auction. We also displayed one of Chris’s creations amongst a huuuuge room of exhibitors. We spent a lot of time walking around and viewing all of the pieces, as well as a lot of money on Lego merch! We didn’t actually […]

I also let you know what may be coming up on the blog in the coming month. You can read past bulletins here and learn more about the feature here. Holy moly. May was extremely busy. I was jam-packed every weekend and the weeks went by so, so fast. I know I say this LITERALLY every month, but how is it already over?? I just pulled out my Erin Condren to double check what the heck happened because I already forgot. OKAY GO. The first weekend of May was a birthday party for Chris’s cousin’s son. (I think this is called first cousin once removed?) He turned three and he’s ridiculously cute, so that was a pretty fun time. His family loves to show up super late to parties though, and we’re getting pretty sick of it. The following weekend we decided to make a day trip up to Boston! We visited Quincy Market and Assembly Row (new Legoland Discovery Center!). We were disappointed that the Discovery Center is only for kids though. We were able to get into the store though… The next day was Mother’s Day, where we had to jet between three different events. I have to say, I’m always sad about being a child of divorce on holidays where […]
