Friday Finds #3

Here are the books I’ve added to my to-read shelf or recently purchased/downloaded to read! Click on the cover for the Goodreads link.           Added to Goodreads: Magnolia by Kristi Cook – I’ve seen too many good reviews for this one, even though it doesn’t seem like a book I’d normally read. We’ll see! Not at the top of my list at the moment. This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales- Got some positive Goodreads ratings and seems interesting enough. These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman – Okay I’ve broken down and added this to my list. It sounds kind of weird, but I can’t stop staring at that beautiful cover! I’ve been wanting to get back into sci-fi / fantasy lately too. Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins – This is another one where I’m succumbing to peer pressure. We’ll see. Just Like Fate by Cat Patrick and Suzanne Young – I think I saw a review for this somewhere. The tagline of “One decision, two paths” is enough for me to say YES to reading this book. Alternate universes created from one decision? Sign me up. Always. Forever. Purchased:  How to Love by Katie Cotugno – On sale right now for Kindle! (Thanks, people I follow on Twitter, for constantly alerting me to book sales and spending my entire paycheck).. Upon further investigation, lots of bloggers I follow enjoyed this book. Done deal. Boomerang by Noelle August – This one seems cute and got some good reviews. It’s pretty cheap […]

Friday Finds #2

Here are the books I’ve added to my to-read shelf! Some of them are not released yet but I’m dying to check them out. Click on the cover image to check out the Goodreads page for it.       The Girl Who Never Was by Skylar Dorset A girl who discovers she’s a faerie princess? Sign me up! The middle schooler in me is screaming right now. One Past Midnight by Jessica Shirvington This girl lives two lives – she spends 24 hours in one then spends the next 24 in a different one. Sounds so fascinating. Dissonance by Erica O’Rourke I can’t stress enough how much I’m obsessed with the idea that every decision we make creates an alternate universe. I hope this book lives up to the pedestal I’m putting it on! Every Ugly Word by Aimee Salter The 23 year old version of Ashley talks the 17 year old version through the bullying and heartbreak she’s going to experience in high school. There seems to be a cool element of mystery to this book too, as the older Ashley is hiding a secret. Damsel Distressed by Kelsey Macke This book is like a fairy tale story told from the other side: the stepsisters. Plus the cover is super cute. I’m trying so hard to get an advanced copy of this one! Even in Paradise by Chelsey Philpot I love books about girls going to ritzy schools and making cool/famous friends. This sounds right up my alley.

Friday Finds #1

I find new books in a variety of ways. I head to Goodreads and do some browsing – sometimes I check out other people’s feeds or Read shelves; sometimes I look at their recommendations for me. I love going to Barnes & Noble and browsing the YA shelves to see new releases or find books by authors I like. I immediately add them to my Goodreads shelf so I don’t forget them (thank god for iPhones)…or I buy them on the spot. Lately, as I’ve gotten deeper in the book blogging world, I check out people’s blogs that I follow and see some of the reviews they’ve done recently. If any of the books sound interesting, I’ll add them to my shelf. Here are the ten latest books I’ve added to my shelf, where I found the book, and why it sounds interesting.     Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Page Where I saw it: Review at Chrissi Reads Why I added it:  I’ve seen this book many times at B&N and always thought it looked semi-interesting. Based on the title and cover, I could tell it was Wizard of Oz-related. I typically don’t like spin-offs like this, but there are a few exceptions. I’ve found myself becoming increasingly interested in  books like this, but wasn’t completely sold and never even bothered to read the plot summary. Then, I saw a review by Chrissi Reads and decided to check out her thoughts. She seemed to like it a lot. I’ve […]
