Top Ten Tuesdays #43: Anticipated

Ten Most Anticipated Releases For the Rest of 2015 Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I’m doing this list without the books that I currently have ARCs of. Obviously Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is high on my list, but that baby is currently waiting to be read in my stack of books from BEA! Without further ado, here are ten books I’m really excited for. Because I need to know what happens next…    Firewalker by Josephine Angelini | I requested this one, so I’m hoping toget my hands on it earlier. After that ending in the previous book, I’ve pretty much been dying to read this one. Get Dirty by Gretchen McNeil | Honestly I didn’t even like the first book that much, but the ending definitely kept me interested. I’m determined to find out who is behind everything. Resonance by Erica O’Rourke | I LOVED DISSONANCE SO MUCH. I had a little sneak peek back into the world through the novella that came out a few months ago, but I am dying for this book. Easily my most anticipated book this year. Because these are read-bait for me…    Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid | I haven’t read her other books (yet), but […]

Five on Fridays #15

Five on Friday displays the the top five things that have been on my mind this week! It could be book-related, but it may be music, movies, TV, personal life, food, etc. It’s been quite a few months since I’ve done one of these! It’s funny because the past two months have been incredibly busy for me; I would actually have A LOT to share… if I had taken the time to write them! Without further ado, here’s a big ol’ Five on Friday update! As you probably saw in my recent end-of-month wrap-up, May was kind of intense. I usually have a very nonexistant social life because Chris and I tend to be homebodies, but we were so freaking busy in May. We had birthday parties, a jam-packed Mother’s Day, trips to Providence and Boston, a Lego event, a graduation… Yeah, it was crazy. We didn’t get a lot of time to ourselves on the weekends, that’s for sure. It was nice to mix it up a little but it would have been better to have some free time intermixed. I loved being a bit more social (which I’ll get to in my final point down there) and getting to meet bloggers at BEA (which is in my fourth point). I guess this is here just to be like, yeah, this month was insane. Yeah it’s no secret that I’m damn antsy for football. As I’ve said, its my only hobby aside from reading. We’ve been watching the NFL Top […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #42: Movies & TV

Ten Books I’d Love to See as Movies or TV Shows Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I’m sure I’m not the only person that would love to see Lara Jean, her family, and those adorable boys on the big screen. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and PS I Still Love You by Jenny Han would be so freaking cute as movies. It would also give some well-deserved main character screen time to Asian American actresses! Even though I wasn’t a fan of When by Victoria Laurie, I could see it being a pretty interesting movie! There would definitely be a few things I would change, but the overall concept is too cool to pass up. I’m really bad at “dream cast” types of posts, so  I can’t really begin to think of who I would want in this movie, but I’m sure there are plenty of options. This wasn’t a blockbuster book so I doubt it would gain movie attention, but again the premise is really awesome. I could totally see it on the big screen. I loooooved Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway. So much. There have been quite a few contemporary YA books-turned-movies, like The Fault in Our Stars and the upcoming All the Bright […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #41: Beach Reads

Ten Books I Plan To Have In My Beach Bag This Summer Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books based on that week’s prompt… and then we stalk other people’s answers to add a million books to our TBR. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Links go to Goodreads or my review. I LOOOOVE THISSS TOPICCCCC *twirls* For real though, my favorite time of year for reading is SUMMERTIME. I save allll of the beachy, road trip, summery contemporary books for June, July, and August. These types of books are my favorite and I make sure I read them when the weather matches! Reading on the beach, outside, on my porch, by the pool, in the pool – you name it, I’m there. Reading. All summer. DAMN why did I change my career ideas to something year-round, 9-5? Someone go back and punch high-school-Lauren in the head. Check out my summery shelf on Goodreads and my summer book recommendation list (pardon the formatting and ugliness – it’s an old post. Also you will not be surprised to see that I have more than ten books on this list… duh. If you haven’t read The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy by Jenny Han, I’m not sure what you’re waiting for! …well, unless you have an aversion to love triangles. I binge-read this series maybe 3 summers ago and have wanted to revisit ever since. […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #40: Owned, Not Read (Freebie)

FREEBIE: Books I Needed to Buy ASAP and Haven’t Read Yet Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books based on that week’s prompt… and then we stalk other people’s answers to add a million books to our TBR. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Links go to Goodreads or my review. I’m sure there are plenty of people who have this issue on a regular basis. SO MANY NEW RELEASES, SO LITTLE TIME. With some books, I just absolutely need to buy them immediately… but don’t read them for months or years. I rush to the store to buy it on release day and waited foreeeever for it to be in my grubby little hands, but then it gathers dust on the shelf. Today’s freebie TTT explores some of the books I had to buy right away OR ELSE that I still need to read. (Book title links bring you to Goodreads) THE BOOK: Even in Paradise by Chelsey Philpot WHY I NEEDED IT: First of all, that cover is gorgeous and intriguing. Second, the blurb sounds so interesting and I saw a lot of positive reviews for it. I was determined to read this right away because it just seemed like a book that would become a new favorite.  WHY I HAVEN’T READ YET: Because I’m a dummy? I don’t know. That seems like the only reasonable answer. To be completely honest, […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #39: Authors to Meet

Top 10 Authors I NEED to Meet + What I’d Say to Them Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books based on that week’s prompt… and then we stalk other people’s answers to add a million books to our TBR. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Links go to Goodreads or my review. There are A LOT of authors I’d love to meet! This is mostly because, as of right now, I haven’t met any at all. Zeroooo. It sucks. Instead of making this list exactly the same as my TTT on all-time favorite authors, I decided to include what I think I would say to them if we ever met!

Top Ten Tuesdays #38: Never Read

Top 10 Books I’ll Probably Never Read Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books based on that week’s prompt… and then we stalk other people’s answers to add a million books to our TBR. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Links go to Goodreads or my review. I feel like I’ve done a topic like this already, but I can’t think of it right now. There are a LOT of books I’ll probably never read, so I decided to go by some of the earliest books I added to my TBR on Goodreads. Most of these will probably never be read for a variety of reasons. Here ya go!

Top Ten Tuesdays #38: Characters

Top 10 12 Characters Who… Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books based on that week’s prompt… and then we stalk other people’s answers to add a million books to our TBR. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Links go to Goodreads or my review. I couldn’t make up my mind on what topic I wanted to do for this very open week of TTT, so I decided to give a sampling of the few that were going through my mind. Explanations and links to reviews/Goodreads at the bottom! The characters that… I couldn’t connect with anyone from The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour – I picked this one up on a whim at the library because I’ve been wanting to read a book by Nina LaCour and the cover is cool. I didn’t realize the MC was a guy at first, which is fine, but I just couldn’t connect to him or his friends. At all. They read like manic pixie dream girls people who were able to float around wherever they wanted. Do these kids have parents? I also REALLY didn’t like Bev and what she did to Colby. I couldn’t forgive her and didn’t like her. I couldn’t connect with Blake from The Pretty App by Katie Sise – She was the kind of popular, pretty girl who spends the whole book complaining about how people only judge her on those qualities. Yes, […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #37: Authors

Top 10 Favorite Authors Ever Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books based on that week’s prompt… and then we stalk other people’s answers to add a million books to our TBR. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Links go to Goodreads or my review. To be honest, this wasn’t that hard for me! Compared to some people, I haven’t read that many books. I have probably 15 authors I could call my FAVORITE at this point in time. I was able to narrow it down to these 10 who are legitimate auto-buys for me. If they write a book, I will buy it and read it!

Top Ten Tuesdays #36: Inspiration

Top 10 Inspirational Book Quotes Things Books Have Inspired Me to Do Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books based on that week’s prompt… and then we stalk other people’s answers to add a million books to our TBR. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Links go to Goodreads or my review. Since I recently posted a list with some of my favorite quotes, I decided to repurpose another post I had planned for May. Oddly enough, the topic is kind of similar! I’ll be doing a spin-off of today’s TTT with another kind of bookish inspiration… Today’s List: Ten Things that Books Motivated Me to Do Do you ever finish a book and just feel really… inspired? Whether it’s to travel to a new place, take up a hobby, or learn more about something, I’ve found that certain books have motivated and inspired me to do something different. Today’s list features ten different things that certain books have gotten me in the mood for! Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver inspired me to start my book blog { Goodreads / Review } This was the first young adult book I read when I decided to get back into reading. I had joined a book club but was reading adult fiction and memoirs (clearly I didn’t stick with that group for long…). I missed YA, because that was my go-to for so long. I […]
