Top 10 (Um, 23) Books I Read in 2014 + Giveaway!
Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make LISTS of our top ten books based on that week’s prompt… and then we stalk other people’s answers to add a million books to our TBR. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here.
I am going to be posting my response to Jamie’s end of the year survey at the end of the month (because I am weird about things like this and NEED to post my end of year things at the actual VERY end of the year), but this will be a nice TTT preview of my favorite books I read this year! I actually had TEN five-star reads this year (well, because I started blogging in July it’s really only half the year.. but it really is my total READING year!) But because I like making things difficult for myself, I’ll give you my top ten five star reads and then some favorites in different categories. Because 4-4.5 star books deserve a lottt of love, too! This is actually my top 23 reads this year. Yikes. There’s something wrong with me. But, you win in this one – because at the bottom of this post, there’s a giveaway for you to win an e-book of your choice of a book from this list!

Oooooh so many of the same ones on my list tooooo. And YES to so many! What is Class of ’98!?!?! That sounds adorable (would be my pick) and I may have to bump up some more of these too! OMG Anna. I re-read it this year and I think I need to re-read it every year. I JUST DIE. Dissonance! Shadow and Bone! Gah, so many good choices 😀
Class of 98 was definitely a more obscure one this year that Amazon had randomly recommended me. So cute!
Ooooooh, your graphics are gorgeousssssss. I love all the Kenneally on this list. And the Czukas. And the Kasie West. BEST THINGS. Actually, I really liked pretty much all of these that I’ve read. *high fives*
Thank you! I’ve been experimenting with Canva. Sometimes it’s easy to use and sometimes not so much haha.
I think I’d choose Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, that’s been on my list for what seems like forever.
My favorite book this year was the Veronica Mars book, I cannot WAIT for the next one. There can’t be too much VM in my life.
I should definitely think about watching that show, judging by what everyone says about it!
Oooh you picked so many great books!! The Distance Between Us was so good as was Shadow and Bone 🙂 I’m really excited to read Open Road Summer, Since You’ve Been Gone, All Our Yesterdays, and more. So glad to see you enjoyed those. Great picks 🙂
Thank you!
I just love how you organized your list. I too loved so many books on your list (like Anna and The French Kiss) and a lot of the ones I didn’t read I plan to (like Dissonance.)
Thank you! 🙂
I would definitely pick Dissonance, I have heard great things! And, my favorite this year is a really tough question! Probably Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier, or the second in that series, Son of the Shadows .
YAY for Dissonance. Hope you love it (whether you win it here or not 😉 )
Before I Fall, Anna, All the Boys, Second Chance Summer, Open Road Summer – I’ve read and loved all of these! May I say, you have fantastic book taste 🙂 I also enjoyed All Our Yesterdays. The ending slayed me, even though I saw it coming. I personally can’t wait to get to Since You’ve Been Gone – my shelf is calling me!
Thank you!! Honestly I think I’m still a little confused about what even happened at the end of All Our Yesterdays! lol
Since You’ve Been Gone was awesome 🙂
Okay, I love love love this post!
I may need to check out this end of the year survey. It sounds like fun. 🙂 Ten five star reads in only five months is pretty good! Yay! I love the different categories you’re going to sort these into. Haha, 23? Oh gosh.
Before I Fall, Gone Girl, Dissonance and Second Chance Summer are all on my tar so I’m glad you liked them so much! Breathe Annie Breathe is also on my TBR, but I haven’t read the other books in the series, so I’m not sure when I’ll read this one. I read Anna and TATBILB and both weren’t rated too highly, but I still liked them pretty well. 🙂
I haven’t read either series you list. 🙁
Ah…I need to read all of your Favorite Contemporary books. The Distance Between Us, Ask Again Later and Since You’ve Been Gone are so on my “need to read you now!” list. Open Road Summer is as well.
I haven’t read any New Adult or Adult books this year, that’s so weird, adult-wise I mean. I’ve read none of your parallel life, sci-fi and fantasy choices either. Gah. Though I want to read the Grisha trilogy and started Peregrine’s home years ago.
Oh gosh, how do I choose an E-book out of this great list? I think I would choose Second Chance Summer so my Morgan Matson collection would be complete. 🙂
I actually read Breathe Annie Breathe first in the series for some reason. You don’t need to read them in order, but it may help a little? Jordan is referenced in BAB, but she has her own book in Chasing Jordan, so it helps if you already know her.. but you really don’t have to.
The Distance Between Us was THE BEST. So funny.
Good call on Second Chance Summer <3
I BOUGHT OPEN ROAD SUMMER! I mean…I bought Open Road Summer. 🙂 Anyway, I read that about the series. 🙂 So maybe Breathe Annie Breathe would be a better pick, hmm. I need to check out the other books in the series.
I love books that make me laugh, The Distance Between Us is such a must read.
