Top Ten Tuesdays #282: Purchased Books

Posted April 7, 2020 / Top 10 Tuesdays, Weekly Memes / 4 Comments

Last Books I Purchased

Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review.

The topic for this week is about the books I purchased because… and for me, I don’t really buy a lot of books. I have a strict budget for books and try to support authors/books in other ways. I thought it would be easier to share some of the most recent books I’ve purchased in general and why!

Kindle Books

All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace // I didn’t love this one but I had no way of reading it for book club, so I bought it. I was listening to the audiobook on Scribd and knew I wouldn’t be able to finish in time with just that format, since my audio listening time has decreased. Anyways, I’m happy to support a debut financially in this time.

House of Earth and Blood by SJM // I did decide to buy this one despite being on the fence about actually reading it. I keep putting it on TBRs and applying it to reading challenges but GOOD LORD 800+ pages is so much. I do hope to get to it this month, maybe, but I’m bummed I can’t buy the audio on Libro.fm as of right now… not sure how I’ll make it through without that option!

The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow // This was on sale in late January, so I bought it! I’ve been wanting to read this one but for some reason it scares me a little bit. I’m putting it off… for now!

Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine // Thrillers are getting me through reading right now, to be honest, so I should hop on reading this soon. This was another impulse Kindle sale buy and I’m not mad about it. Hopefully it’ll be an addicting read when the time comes.

Stay Sexy and Don’t Get Murdered by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark // I enjoy the My Favorite Murder podcast well enough, but definitely go through phases of listening to it. I bought this one on sale, yet again, because I knew I would want to read it at some point. I’ll probably mix in the audio as long as they keep it on Scribd too.

Physical Books

Deck of Omens by Christine Lynn Hermann // I decided to preorder this one! I have the first book in the series (finished copy sent by the publisher) and really enjoyed it. I have it on my April TBR to squeeze in right at the end of the month when it arrives, since I’m hoping to use it for OWLS. I would love to mix the audio from Scribd or Hoopla if it ends up on there, but I like having a full series on my shelf wherever possible.

The King of Crows by Libba Bray // A no-brainer! I needed to preorder this one. I also preordered the audiobook because I wanted to make sure that I was able to mix in both, since the audio is amazing. It was such a good book – definitely put me in a hangover for the year lol.

Budget Savvy Wedding Planner and Organizer by Jessica Bishop // I haven’t even cracked this one open yet and I know I should. We have our venue and photographer booked for next October but we haven’t done the DJ yet, which is the next big thing to check off the list. I’ll breeze through this one sometime!

Then There Was You by Miranda Liasson // I wanted to read the first two books in this series before hosting the readalong for the third (Christmas) book with Forever Romance. I bought this one and Forever had sent me the other two at one point or another. I still haven’t read the second book, but I did read this one 🙂

Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker // I had a review copy of this one and it expired when I went to read it, so I ordered a physical copy for my collection. I really enjoyed it! I wanted to read it on or around Halloween and was delivered that day – perfect!
