I wrote a post a few years ago about some series I was hoping to read/finish before the end of 2023. I was just filling out my book journal for 2026 and decided to share something similar for the full year. I am still using the spreadsheet I developed a way to track all of my series, which has continued to be helpful as I plan what to read.
Started in 2025, Next Book in 2026
I started three series that came out with book one in 2025 and am eager to continue in 2026 with their second installment. ALCHEMY OF SECRETS second book doesn’t have a release date on Goodreads but I believe it will be this year. THE ACADEMY and GOOD SPIRITS both have sequels confirmed for this upcoming fall and I can guarantee I’ll be reading both as soon as possible. (Note I usually include the cover of the next book to read but these haven’t been released yet!)
Started This Year, Backlist to Continue
I finally read THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB because the movie came out and really enjoyed it. I hope to progress in this series (there are now five books out) this year. I can’t promise reading beyond book two, but that’s the main goal at a minimum. Same could be said for the Veronica Speedwell books; I really enjoyed A CURIOUS BEGINNING and would love to read 1-2 more this year since it’s a long series with TEN books as of now.
Started Previously, Backlist to Continue
I had HELL BENT on here in 2023 and you can assume because it’s still here… haven’t read it. I’ve also debated just reading this one followed immediately by the next book, so we’ll see. It comes out at some point in 2026 – likely fall – so I could read both back-to-back. I wanted to read the next Seaside Cafe Mystery last year but it’s a Halloween book so I was thinking I’d just read it in September/October 2026, before maybeee finishing it off… I haven’t read any other books in the Dreamer trilogy since the first one came out and I just haven’t had the mojo to keep going. We’ll see if 2026 is the year since I hope to read the RAVEN BOYS graphic novel too. I was really trying to finish the Stolen Heir trilogy last year but I was just never in the mood for it, so this is a must for 2026.
There are a few more books in the Inheritance Games / Grandest Game interconnected series that I need to read. I have both of of these but just never got to them, so hopefully that changes next year. I think the final installment in the whole series also comes out in 2026. I read TRUTHWITCH when it first came out and just never continued because high fantasy series are intimidating, but I own most of the books lol. I plan to reread the first book and try to read at least one of the next books in the series. The final series to target progress in is American Royals, as I’ve read the first two books.
Started Previously, Finishing This Year
I don’t know how many of the series in the previous categories I’ll actually finish this year but I can guarantee these two will be done. I read all of the main Shady Hollow books but there’s a random Halloween short story I never got to, so that will happen in October. HEARTSTOPPER will be coming to an end later this year so I will probably preorder that at some point or pick it up from my local bookstore.
