Blog Tour: Finding Felicity

I knew exactly what I wanted to do for a post when I saw this blog tour announced by the Fantastic Flying Book Club. Felicity is a show I’ve always wanted to watch. I was constantly watching Friends with my mom (when I was way too young to watch it), but I never saw Felicity because she didn’t watch it. I was only 7 years old when the show started so the college-aged main character fascinated me, but was out of my reach at the time. I loved the concept of Finding Felicity when I saw the book’s synopsis a long time ago, and vowed to watch the show before reading the book. As you might have guessed, my role in this fun blog tour is to watch Felicity for the first time and share my feelings before reading the book. I’m going to include a little late 90s outfit Polyvore collage with Cover Colors as well, because I can’t resist. A first time Felicity watcher binges the show The tour was announced at the beginning of March, so I knew I had a few weeks to get going on the show. I decided to keep my live-blogging to just the first episode because it would get out of hand for all the episodes (I learned this very quickly). I embarked on the binge the first weekend of the month when my boyfriend was working (and sleeping, due to his work schedule). Here are my thoughts on season one, starting with a live blog […]

Follow Amber Sand, a magical matchmaker who can actually see true love, as she takes off on a fun and romantic adventure toward happily ever after.   Cover Colors This is probably one of my favorite Cover Colors! First of all, I love the actual colors from this cover. They were a lot of fun to pull from for the outfit below. Amber is a baker and hoping to get into culinary school, so I was able to include some baking-related accessories for her, including a cupcake phone case, apron, and cute pan. I included a map of Chicago print for the wall, since that’s the setting of the book, and a winter coat to keep her warm during those winters. She’s a very casual dresser so I gave her some ripped jeans, sneakers, and a cute tank top. There are some matching beauty items and accessories too.   Sweetest Kind of Fate by bookmarklit featuring chicago wall art Review Another cute installment in this series! I love the Windy City Magic store and all of the paranormal happenings around Chicago. Amber is approached by her enemy, Ivy, because her sister, Iris, is going […]

Cover Colors: Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index

It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with book covers. I love the colors, the typography, the different designs that cover artists can create. I even have a guest post feature where people share their favorite book covers and bookmarks! I decided to start up this random feature where I draw color inspiration from my favorite book covers. I may create an outfit, pick out some nail polish, or design a quote graphic. Today’s cover is… Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index by Julie Israel I’m honestly not sure why I love this cover so much. The colors and the confetti really just kill me. I tried to make this outfit kind of muted like the cover is, with touches of confetti or polka dots throughout – the phone case, earrings, notebook, and clutch all remind me of it in different ways. I like that the shirt on the cover is so plain and almost 1950s like. I pictured a dress with a peter pan collar and lucked out with this one below! I had to include a notebook because much of the book involves notecards and writing things down.     Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index by bookmarklit featuring a deborah lippmann nail polish

#ReadADessen: Lock & Key

I was sent a finished copy of this book for review as a part of the Penguin Random House Partner program. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Click the photo below to view the original source on the Penguin Read a Dessen campaign website! When Penguin invited some bloggers to join in with the #ReadaDessen campaign in honor of her new book ONCE AND FOR ALL (out June 6th), I hopped on board real quick. I’d been planning a Dessen-filled summer with Cristina already, but figured I’d give myself even more motivation to get rereading. True story: everyone has a favorite Sarah Dessen book. And if you ask them about it, they’ll be more than happy to gush about it for as long as possible. That’s why this summer we’re asking readers to spread the love by sharing their favorite Sarah Dessen novel with the world. Whether it’s because your favorite Sarah Dessen book gave you a love for reading, got you through a tough time, or changed the way you see the world – we want to know. [Source] Why Lock & Key? I didn’t remember much about this one so I partially picked this story to remind myself of why I initially loved it! I remember there being a really excellent character arc in this one, where Ruby learns to rely on other people sometimes and admit she needs help. I’m ALWAYS drawn to sister stories because I love my sister and want […]

It made me INCREDIBLY excited for the book (of course the premise/summary didn’t hurt too!). I enjoyed it (a bit less than expected, but that’s probably my fault) and had to highlight it here. The cover is very springy with all of the flowers, so I couldn’t resist using the floral prints and colors in a few different outfits. Floral print is my FAVE. Blog Tour Cover Colors | Chloe Snow’s Diary: Confessions of a High School Disaster

Hello friends! I’m here today for my stop on the blog tour for Chloe Snow’s Diary: Confessions of a High School Disaster! I read the book in one afternoon and couldn’t put it down. I loved Chloe so much; she reminded me of myself in my freshman year of high school. Below you’ll see my Color Covers post for the book’s cover, as well as the outfit I made for Chloe that represents various aspects of the book. I also included a small review down below, near all of the blog tour information. Hope you enjoy and want to read the book ASAP 😉 It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with book covers. Today’s cover is… Chloe Snow’s Diary: Confessions of a High School Disaster by Emma Chastain I have to say, this outfit below was probably one of the most fun to make! I put it together almost immediately after finishing the book so everything was super fresh in my mind. You’ll see a lot of different details below that directly correspond to things Chloe does, sees, wears, and receives. Some examples: the copy of Sense and Sensibility from Christmas […]

Blog Tour | Cover Colors: Dreamland Burning

Hello friends! I’m here today for my stop on the DREAMLAND BURNING blog tour. (If you’re visiting my blog for Top Ten Tuesday, you can see the belated post tomorrow!) This book has some really important and interesting connections to previously overlooked historical events, so I hope you like what I put together today. You can find more information about the book and a mini review from me at the bottom of the post. Today’s cover is… Dreamland Burning by Jennifer Latham I’ve never done such a muted cover before for this feature, but I love how these colors use the sepia tones to imply history. I don’t read a lot of historical fiction, but the connections between past and present for this story really intrigued me. I pulled colors from the backgrounds, text, and hair to create the old-timey palette. I grabbed the above quote from a section of the synopsis before even reading the book. This quote could not be more relevant to feature here, both from a historical perspective and from the book itself. This book is […]

Cover Colors: Emma Mills Double Feature – First & Then and This Adventure Ends

It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with book covers. I love the colors, the typography, the different designs that cover artists can create. I even have a guest post feature where people share their favorite book covers and bookmarks! I decided to start up this random feature where I draw color inspiration from my favorite book covers. I may create an outfit, pick out some nail polish, or design a quote graphic. Today’s first cover is… First & Then by Emma Mills This is one of my favorite covers ever. The colors and raindrops are so cute, and I love that they make the shape of a heart in the middle. This colorful outfit isn’t the best fit for football season (when the book takes place), but it’s too cute to resist. I had to tie in a copy of Sense and Sensibility, since Dev reads Jane Austen all the time (and this is the book that Ezra picked up for her). I chose heart-shaped earrings to match the cover of the book, and a football necklace for Dev to wear to support all of the people she knows on the team. It’s cute, casual, and colorful.   First & Then by bookmarklit featuring a lace crop top Today’s second cover is… This Adventure Ends by Emma Mills Again, Emma Mills freaking SCORED with her book cover. I ADORE this cover. I think I might love it more than the previous one? Don’t make me decide. I would literally frame both of them and put them […]

Cover Colors: Three Day Summer

It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with book covers. I love the colors, the typography, the different designs that cover artists can create. I even have a guest post feature where people share their favorite book covers and bookmarks! I decided to start up this random feature where I draw color inspiration from my favorite book covers. I may create an outfit, pick out some nail polish, or design a quote graphic. Today’s cover is… Three Day Summer by Sarvenaz Tash I decided that obviously this cover NEEDED to be shown off a little more! I’m so obsessed with the colors and its so amazingly reminiscent of Woodstock. This book was seriously great. With a setting at Woodstock, I knew I would at least enjoy that aspect! This book had a lot of great quotes about growing up and finding yourself. Here’s a favorite, using some of the cover colors… Obviously Woodstock was back in 1969, right during the Vietnam War and hippie style. I decided to make my outfits here based more around the time, instead of around the cover colors. I also decided to make clothing picks for both of the main characters – Cora and Michael. They each have a red bandana because they got one for free at the concert and wore it throughout. Three Day Summer by bookmarklit featuring highwaist jeans   I also wanted to share a fun picture I took last summer on Instagram when I was reading this one. I loved that the smoothie […]
