Exciting News!

I’m very excited to say that I got my first book from NetGalley! I’m sure all of you well-known bloggers know what that feeling was like. I feel like I won the lottery! I’m so glad someone decided to take a chance on a new blogger and give me an advanced copy of a book to review. Without further ado, I’ll be reading and reviewing: Can’t Look Away by Donna Cooner (to be released August 26th from Point [Scholastic]). I’m especially excited because this is a book I’ve been eyeing for a while.

cant look awayClick on the cover to check out the Goodreads page. Here’s the synopsis:

Torrey Grey is famous. At least, on the internet. Thousands of people watch her popular videos on fashion and beauty. But when Torrey’s sister is killed in an accident — maybe because of Torrey and her videos — Torrey’s perfect world implodes.
Now, strangers online are bashing Torrey. And at her new school, she doesn’t know who to trust. Is queen bee Blair only being sweet because of Torrey’s internet infamy? What about Raylene, who is decidedly unpopular, but seems accepts Torrey for who she is? And then there’s Luis, with his brooding dark eyes, whose family runs the local funeral home. Torrey finds herself drawn to Luis, and his fascinating stories about El dio de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead.
As the Day of the Dead draws near, Torrey will have to really look at her own feelings about death, and life, and everything in between. Can she learn to mourn her sister out of the public eye?

You can expect a review within the next week hopefully!

Any tips for my first advanced copy review? Do you remember yours?
Please share any advice you have – I’d really appreciate it!

Congrats! 😀 NetGalley is a pretty great place once you get approved for a couple books. Hope you like it!

    • I’m not sure I’m the best person to ask since I’m so new at this 😛 but here’s what I wrote! Hope it helps — “I may be new to the blogging world, but you have to start somewhere! I’m hoping to build my follower base even more by reading books before they are released. I primarily enjoy young adult books of all kinds – paranormal, contemporary, romance, etc. My favorite books tend to be books about the afterlife (or being stuck between living and dying) and books with multiple characters whose lives are intertwined. I also like some women’s fiction and new adult with similar storylines. I try to bring humor and honesty to my reviews.”

  2. Congrats!! I will be honest, every time I get it approved for a book I still get excited. This is one important thing to always remember, even if you did not like the book, always remember to write your review on net galley. Even if you do not put one on your blog to link to, put it on net galley.
Publishers honestly do look at your approved books 2 books you reviewed ratio on the website.
I have also gone on NG & written reviews on books I have already read.
That is okay. You do not have to be accepted for a book to post a review about it.
Now that I have read about this book you got approved for I want to go over there and click on it. It sounds pretty cool. I follow a lot of beauty bloggers and vloggers on YouTube so this sounds pretty cool
