Ten Characters I’d Love to Revisit in 10 Years
Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review.
The very large, excellent topic idea for this week is Ten Childhood/YA Characters You’d Love To Revisit As Adults: {(ie a novella or something to see what they grew up to be) — you could always just pick YA characters you’ve read recently you wouldn’t mind revisiting in 10 years or so. Or you could pick 10 characters and guess what you think they’d be doing in 10 years or 20 years. OR you could go the other way and wish for coming of age stories for adult characters you love.} I love this topic! I decided to go with the idea of revisiting characters in 10 years.I split this into three sections because there are always questions you have about the future when you finish a book. Does your OTP stay together forever even though they met when they were 16? Does the world come to an end? Do people have more character growth? Someone give me some answers or a nice 10-years-later-novella. I am going to use spoiler tags when I have specific ending-related questions about the book. Everything else is vague enough!
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell | WHAT ARE THE WORDS?
The Lost & Found by Katrina Leno | Do they make it work long distance?! HELP.
When We Collided by Emery Lord | View Spoiler »
After I Do by Taylor Jenkins Reid | View Spoiler »
A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket | Do they live happily for once? Forever?
Harry Potter by JK Rowling | What happens to everyone?! (Need more, always.)
The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer | Loved the epilogue, but is everyone happy in 10 years still?
Rules for 50/50 Chances by Kate McGovern | View Spoiler »
We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach | View Spoiler »
Winning by Lara Deloza | Do the characters get better? Nicer? Change?
Rebel Bully Geek Pariah by Erin Jade Lange | View Spoiler »
I also feel we need an Eleanor and Park sequel. I devoured that book and want more! Great list!
Totally agree!
Okay, your questions have made all those stories very enticing. I love your spin on the topic, and now I have some great TBR list ideas.
Thank you! Glad to hear it 🙂
E & P, yes! What are the words? I assume “I love you” but who knows. Harry Potter and Lunar Chronicles – yes, need more for sure! So excited about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child screenplay and the Iko graphic novels.
Yes, agreed! I can’t wait for those.
For E&P I was thinking either that or something simple like “how are you?” or “I miss you” — could be anything!!!
Great list! Yes to Harry Potter and The Lunar Chronicles! I have not yet read Eleanor and Park but any Rainbow Rowel character is a character I would love to revisit. I also really want to read When We Collided soon 🙂
Thank you! I definitely rec E&P – my favorite book by her!
We All Looked Up!!! Right???? All that build up and ????? I would also love to know about the HP characters!! At least I think I do! I mean, when I read that epilogue, I was not happy, so maybe I really don’t want to know!
RIGHT?! I want to knooooow.
I’m definitely happy with the HP epilogue but I want that world to be open forever instead!
I would love to know how some of the series you’ve mentioned continued! Great list 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
I definitely need to know what happened to Eleanor. It’s been awhile, but that book left me with so many unanswered questions and I need them all answered. Great List!
Omg I know – same here!
Always need more Harry Potter!
ALWAYS!
I love this!! I did couples I would love to revisit as my topic and Eleanor and Park made my list for sure. I just finished After I Do and I LOVED it. If I had read it before I created my list, they would have made it for sure. Great list!
Oh definitely E&P. I want to see where they’re at now! Especially because this book takes place a while ago.
Sooo glad you loved After I Do! An all-time favorite for me.
Omg yes with Eleanor and Park. WHAT ARE THE WORDS? There are so many possibilities! I love you? I miss you? I am sorry? I spent a lot of time trying to think what those words are long after I finished the book.
RIGHT?!?!
