Top Ten Tuesdays #73: Recently Added

Top Books I’ve Recently Added To My TBR Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. This week we’re talking about the top ten books that we recently added to our TBRs. I think the term “TBR” can have a lot of different meanings. Some refer to it as all the books you OWN and need to read, while others just use it as an all-inclusive terms for books to read at some point. I’m the latter; I refer to my TBR as the general list of books I would like. I split my TBR into two different Goodreads shelves: to-read and tbr-unreleased. Having one shelf confused me because I would always be like OH I want to read that next, then get sad when I noticed it wasn’t released yet. I decided to pull from both shelves for this particular TTT because it’s more fun that way. I also didn’t do it exactly with the last 10 books, because some were novellas and books I finally added on Goodreads that I’ve owned for year. Now, after that unnecessary explanation, here’s this week’s ten books! The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan | One of my real-life reader friends and I kept going back and forth about New Adult books the other day, and […]

Must Read in 2016 (Link-Up + Giveaway)

Must Read in 2016 (Link-Up + Giveaway)

At the end of ever year, I think about all of the books I didn’t get around to reading. Some books I was SO EXCITED for and maybe even preordered, but didn’t read them. Sometimes other books get in the way or my mood isn’t right. Sometimes I genuinely have no idea why I didn’t read the book yet. I tweeted this the other day and I wish I had a dollar for every person who agreed or related. THEN AN IDEA WAS BORN. There are other challenges out there that aim to get your TBR pile down (backlist books and/or books you already own) that I plan on partaking in. There are some readathons coming up that can help you wipe the slate clean for 2016 as well (more info later in the post!). But what I wanted was a super casual link-up where you just decide I’M GOING TO READ THESE BOOKS OR ELSE. Introducing…     There are really no rules for this. I almost wanted to just call this a book tag because it really only involves writing ONE POST. Here’s what I’m thinking for this ridiculously easy and (can I just say the word again?) CASUAL challengey link-up: 1. Write a blog post or create a Goodreads shelf that shows what books you were HYPED for last year but somehow never got around to. It doesn’t have to be 2015 releases – just any book you discovered and got excited about, but never read. (PSSST, […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #56: Fall TBR

Ten Books on my Fall TBR List Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I like to try to read a lot of different things, across genres, formats, and where I got them from. I am utterly terrible about sticking to a TBR each month because my moods change SO much. The only “required” reading I usually have to do is if I signed up for a blog tour, for my Book Buddies review, and for my real-life book club. I’ve wanted to find a TBR format that works for me so I can still have some kind of method to my madness and I’ve been lurking on Andi’s TBR methods for a while. I decided to try it for the rest of September and October. Here are some of the categories I came up with… I tried to think of the books I genuinely want to read this fall, and what categories they may fall into. I don’t want to restrict myself too much so I did leave a freebie option or two. I filled this page with categories – 18 books – but I will most likely exceed that number between the rest of September and all of October. That gives me even more wiggle room! Now, some […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #55: Excuses (Freebie)

Top Ten Tuesdays #55: Excuses (Freebie)

Ten Books I’m VERY Excited to Read (and am Running Out of Excuses for Why I Haven’t Read Them Yet) Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. So, awhile back I did a TTT for the ten books I just NEEDED to buy ASAP but still haven’t read yet. I like the idea of that kind of post because it’s fun to make a TTT with books you haven’t read yet, as opposed to repeating the same all-time favorites too often. Next week’s topic is your fall TBR, but this week I’ll be bringing you ten books I was very excited to read but still haven’t for some reason. I’m also going to have a poll at the bottom in case you want to help me decide which I should read by the end of the year. I PROMISE to read at least one of them by the end of 2015 😉 I love this author and don’t want to run out of their books… THE BOOKS: Girl Before a Mirror by Liza Palmer | After I Do by Taylor Jenkins Reid | The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West ⇒ THE EXCUSE: You know that feeling when you read a PERFECT book by an author, so part of you wants to immediately read ALL of their other books… […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #50: Retellings

Ten Fairytale Retellings (2 Loved + 8 To-Read) Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. So, first of all – this is my 50th TTT! I can’t believe it. 50 straight weeks of Top Ten Tuesday. Damn. And second, YAY! I love this one! I have a lot of retellings on my TBR and even joined a challenge for them this year. I have plans for quite a few more – especially with the Lunar Chronicles readalong starting this month. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas | Still can barely talk about this one Princess of Thorns by Stacey Jay | Took a while to get going, but fantastic after it did! Cinder by Marissa Meyer | Reading very soon for the Lunar Chronicles readalong! Ash & Bramble by Sarah Prineas | Started this but had to stop and send to the next person Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Berry & Ridley Peterson | A classic I need to read Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson | I’ve heard nothing but fantastic things about this one Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge | This has been on my TBR forever! Of Beast and Beauty by Stacey Jay | I loved PoT so I have to […]

Read-a-Thon Wrap-Up: Make Me Read It

Read-a-Thon Wrap-Up: Make Me Read It

Starts at 8:00am on July 20th and ends at 12:00am on July 27th #MakeMeRead tag on Twitter/Instagram Check out the intro pages (Val’s or Ely’s) and the rules below: Look at the books you own, either physical, e-book or ones you’ve borrowed from the library and pick out a few you really want to read, or feel like you should read. It’s up to you how many you pick, personally I’d pick a few more than you expect to be able to read in a week. Example: if you think you’ll only read two, pick out five books or if you think you can read seven, pick out ten. Make a list of these books on your blog, or make a video, or a Goodreads shelf or post a picture on Instagram—whatever is easiest for you. Then get friends, other bloggers/booktubers etc. to vote on which books you HAVE to read. When the read-a-thon comes along, you read the books in the order of most votes. For example, if one book gets 10 votes—you read that first, then the one that got 7 and so on. If there’s a tie, then it’s your preference. The goal is to read as many as possible. Wrap-Up The read-a-thon started on Monday of last week and ends late tonight, so here is my wrap-up! I had a few obligations to read during it, so I didn’t do as well as I hoped in the beginning… but I’m glad I forced myself to read some […]

Here are the books I’ll be reading in rank order. As the rules suggest, you […]

I have soooo many of them. During this […]
