Unreleased Excitement

Unreleased Excitement

I wrote a lot of these posts back before 2017 and it was fun to share books I was super excited for. I include these sometimes  when I talk about books I added to my list, but not to this extent! I have plenty of fresh releases to add to your TBRs, folks. I’m only including books that have cover art because it just makes my life easier. As usual, I won’t be including books I have review copies for right now. Last Girl Lied To by L.E. Flynn | I didn’t need to read the synopsis to know that I wanted to read this book. I loved Flynn’s debut (under a slightly different version of her name). However, the summary definitely helps 😉 I’m a sucker for books where the character may have disappeared instead of died, all of the mysteries involved in finding out the truth, etc. GIVE ME IT. (I’m in the blog tour for this one next month – eeek!) A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson | Ugh yes please. I was a sucker for the Serial podcast just like everyone else. Cases that are “closed” that may not actually be solved correctly? Sign me up. This story involves the lead character investigating a murder (for a school project) that occurred in her small town five years earlier… and discovering that it may not be as solved as they all think. Virtually Yours by Sarvenaz Tash | Another author where I will add their books […]

Summer Releases to Add to Your TBR

Summer Releases to Add to Your TBR

I have a tendency of reading summertime releases really early for some reason. I posted a round-up last year of summer 2016 releases to watch out for as a result of this weird habit. I happened to notice the same thing happening in 2017, so here we are today. A little more background: I love when bloggers make “save the date” style posts like Jamie and Ginger, so this is sort of a quick version of that. Here are a few books coming out in the summer (starting in May, because I can’t resist) that I’ve already read and enjoyed. This book was a breath of fresh air and really kicked my reading year off right. I love Emery Lord, but NAMES is easily her best story. I don’t like reading about religion but this was incredibly well-done and accessible for people who don’t like it. I wouldn’t have read it if her name wasn’t on it, but I’m so glad I did. I LOVED the characters, the ship, the family and friend feels, the setting… you name it. I loved reading this geeky romance between Dimple and Rishi, whose parents are trying to push them together during a summer coding camp. I thought the Indian rep was really well-done from my seriously limited perspective. If yo’re looking for a new OTP, I highly suggest this book. It was so fun to read and I couldn’t believe how quickly I would fly through it in each sitting. I expected to love […]

Even MORE Upcoming Books I’m Super Excited For

Even MORE Upcoming Books I’m Super Excited For

I hope you’re ready for even MORE (x2 basically) unreleased books I’m super excited about! Back in March, I talked about some other new and upcoming books I was excited for and then I also shared books that aren’t releasing for a loooong time but I wanted them immediately. I also did another installment in November. I’ve been trying to highlight newer and upcoming releases (both in the far future and the near future) lately because I have a lot of fun putting bookish lists together and never doing anything with them. I always love adding new books to my TBR and creeping on other people’s posts like this! Without further ado, here are some more upcoming releases (2017 books that now have cover art) that I need.    180 Seconds by Jessica Park • April 2017 This book involves a social experiment where you have to spend 180 seconds with someone. Naturally, the MC and the guy hit it off and you wonder what will happen next. I’ve read articles about dating and how if you maintain eye contact for a certain amount of time then ask specific questions, it helps you fall in love? I think that premise is what intrigues me about this book! Margot & Me by Juno Dawson • January 2017 The premise of moving to her grandmother’s (Margot) house for a few months and having to deal with a new school is usually appealing enough for me. However, the MC then finds her grandmother’s diary from the 1940s and uncovers a […]

End of 2016 Fake-Ish TBR I Wish I Could Follow

End of 2016 Fake-Ish TBR I Wish I Could Follow

In a perfect world, I would finish off all of my reading challenges without any issue. In a perfect world, all of these books would be books I owned. In a perfect world, my reading mojo would be 100% back with no hesitations. Of course it’s not a perfect world and the likelihood I actually get to these books – not only the amount of books here but the actual titles here – is so tiny. I’m terrible about sticking to a TBR in the first place, let alone a short term TBR to finish off all of my challenges before the end of the year. It’s just unlikely. You know how much I love pulling together TBR posts even if I don’t actually get to the books. So! A few things I wish I could finish off include… Rock My TBR Challenge – Read 9 more books that I own to complete the challenge of 25 Must Read in 2016 – Read the rest of the books (6) on my “must read list” for this year Bookish Bingo (Fall) – Read 6 books in the specific categories to fill the bingo card by end of November I can definitely find a way to combine this in as many ways as possible; I could read one book that fits into all three categories if I’m smart about it. The only restrictions are really the specific books I selected to read this year. Regardless of all of these silly rules I place on myself, here we go… […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #114: New to the TBR

Ten Books I’ve Added to my To-Be-Read List Lately Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. Jamie’s New to the Queue posts are always enjoyable to read and I’ve done posts like this in the past – both for TTT and just for fun. I even posted about to-be-released books I’m excited about last week. Hopefully you’re not sick of these. I dug around to make sure there wasn’t a lot of overlap between all those posts! We Are Still Tornadoes by Michal Kun and Susan Mullen // There are so many things I love about this book’s synopsis… childhood best friends into more-than-friends, the 80s vibes, writing letters to each other, etc. Life on the Refrigerator Door by Alice Kuipers // I wasn’t sure if this book was literally just full of notes they left on a refrigerator, but the synopsis certainly implies it. We’ll see how that goes, but I’m intrigued. All I Want for Christmas by Jenny Hale // I can’t believe it took me so long to realize this book was a thing! I requested it from NetGalley immediately because Jenny Hale’s Christmas stories are MY FAVORITES. The Casquette Girls by Alys Arden // So this synopsis has a LOT going on and I’m really not even sure what it’s […]

MORE Upcoming Books I’m Super Excited For

I hope you’re ready for even MORE unreleased books I’m super excited about! Back in March, I talked about some other new and upcoming books I was excited for and thent I also shared books that aren’t releasing for a loooong time but I wanted them immediately. The Young Wives Club by Julie Pennell • February 2017 I really love books involving groups of women coming together to ~bond~ about something. In this case, a few young wives deal with a wide variety of relationship situations and lean on each other to work through them. I also would like to say this cover is perfect and now I need cake. Spellbook of the Lost and Found by Moira Fowley-Doyle • August 2017 I didn’t read this author’s debut even though it really intrigued me, and this concept is no different. Various people in the town start losing things… only to have them reappear in the fields. Then there’s some kind of spellbook and other crazy and mysterious things start happening! I’ve been intrigued by magical realism lately, clearly. This is Not the End by Chandler […]

Book Series I Need to Start

Book Series I Need to Start

So far this year, I’ve read almost an equal amount of books in series and standalones. I’ve been trying to get better about continuing series that I start, but I don’t think I have as big of an issue with it as some other bloggers seem to. I’m usually good about finishing series… but there are plenty more (published already) series I really want to get started on. Sometimes there’s nothing better than waiting for all of the books to be out and then going on a binge. I plan to hopefully do that with some of these books. (Some I might not wait, but regardless! Worth checking out.) I have this broken down by genre because it makes the most sense. The last “other” category includes retellings and paranormal-like books. I didn’t have enough of those two to make separate categories. Yes, I’m being picky about keeping everything even. Without further ado… Fantasy books are definitely more likely to be in a series, so I tried to really scale back here! There are plenty more I’d like to start at some point, but these are the highlights. I even own quite a few of these, if not all of them… I don’t know how I keep putting some of these ones off! I own a few of these as well. There are more companion series for contemporary romance than a straight-up series. I believe three out of these six are companion-like series and the other half are straight-up series with the […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #108: Fall TBR

Ten Books on my Fall TBR Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. This week’s TTT is: Books On My Fall TBR List. These are always my favorite TTT topics because I love making TBR lists. Do I love following them once I make them though? No, of course not. You know I’m terrible at TBRs. I seriously love being organized and making lists of all kinds, so it’s no surprise that I still enjoy making these lists. Without further ado, here are the books I sincerely hope I can read this fall! Library Books   Little Black Dresses, Little White Lies by Laura Stampler ///  I was intrigued by this little rom-com book when I first caught it on Goodreads, so I immediately requested it from the library. I was going to read it after The Hating Game but didn’t want to do two workplace comedies in a row. The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee /// This is another one that’s been on my radar for a super long time. I was going to preorder it but decided to just to the library thing first. I’ve seen mixed reviews but I really think I’ll personally enjoy it. Can’t wait to finally dive in!   Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas /// […]

Vacation Week Immediate TBR

Vacation Week Immediate TBR

I am on a glorious vacation ALL WEEK. Today is my last day of work until September 12th. My vacation will involve sitting on my ass at home for days and days… and reading a lot of books. Usually I only take time off so I can GO somewhere. But, because of Labor Day and other fun friend/party things happening, I’m taking the whole week off to do whatever I want. My birthday is on Friday (weeee!) so Chris and I will be spending some time doing something. But other than that? I’ll be home, by myself, enjoying a lot of Netflix and (hopefully more) reading. I hope to treat this almost like Bout of Books where I just kind of read like there’s no tomorrow. I’ve been thinking about how badly I need this uninterrupted reading time. I thought it would be fun to put together an immediate TBR for this week of vacation. I hope to get through as many of these as possible, but I also want to do some other ~* me things *~ this week too. I love Chris and living with him is great, but it can be really hard to focus on things like reading or other TV shows I want to watch. I usually get some good time when he’s in the middle of a video game or something, but this week is MIIIIINEEEE to be alone with my books and quiet. I hope at least some of you know where these gifs […]

Must Read in 2016 Halfway Point (Link-Up + Giveaway)

Must Read in 2016 Halfway Point (Link-Up + Giveaway)

Do you ever look at a book and think “HOW have I not read this yet?!” I created a link-up for 2016 where you challenge yourself to make a list of those books and then read them, instead of sitting around and waiting for the next year to come and go again. These could be books you’re super excited about and somehow never read (and maybe you even preordered them!). I dubbed this challenge/link-up the Must Read in 2016 Challenge, and a few of you decided to join me! I said that we’d check in around the halfway point in the year just to say “oh shit I forgot about this!” and hopefully use it as motivation to READ. THOSE. BOOKS. I welcome you to join in for the 2nd half of the year! The linky is available for you to post your TBRs and the Rafflecopter is available to enter into the giveaway. That’s really all you have to do. Sometimes making a TBR post alone is enough to get me to read the damn books. I’ve edited the “rules” a little bit so they make more sense, now that half of the year has passed us by already somehow. So here’s what you can do if you’re interested in joining in still: 1. Write a blog post or create a Goodreads shelf that shows what books you were HYPED for in 2015 or early 2016 but somehow never got around to. It doesn’t have to be 2015 or 2016 releases – just any […]
