5 Authors I’ve Met and 5 Authors I’d Love to Meet
Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review.
I feel like I’ve done this topic a bunch of times, so I thought I would also toss in the few authors I’ve met before as well. I have a lot of favorites that I haven’t been able to meet, so hopefully someday I can make that happen!
Authors I’ve Met
Leigh Bardugo | She was the first author I met, back during my trip to Book Expo America. I have a signed and personalized copy of Six of Crows, which is excellent! She was super nice. For some reason I don’t think I have photos of this even though that feels very weird… I could have sworn one of the girls took a candid-ish one while I was getting the book signed.
Sarah J. Maas | I say SJM because I was in the same small-ish room (okay it was a Barnes & Noble) as her while she spoke about her latest release at the time. I also got to see Sarah, my friend and former Secret Sister! I went all the way to Rhode Island and back (a total of 3 hours) on a weeknight to go there but didn’t want to stay too late to meet her in the huge line. Sarah got my book signed for me and sent it over. So yes, I didn’t technically meet her but feel like this is close enough.
Sarah Dessen | My sister and I headed down to Fairfield, also pretty far away on a weeknight, to listen to and meet Sarah Dessen! This was right before I was moving to Maine for a year and it was a great night for the two of us to hang out with each other. Dessen was honestly the number one (realistic) author to meet from my bucket list and she was amazing.
Chloe Benjamin | I went to this event at Print while we lived in Portland! I was curious about her book (still haven’t read it – what else is new) and we decided to spend an afternoon listening to her speak about it. It was an interesting event overall.
Morgan Matson | This was excellent coincidence, that Morgan Matson would be in Portland of all places while we lived there! It was a great event with donuts and talk of Save the Date. It was awesome to meet her and chat before and after the event. She is so, so kind to her readers!
Authors I Hope to Meet
Jenny Han | Emma Mills | Holly Black
Taylor Jenkins Reid | Emery Lord
I’ve only met 3 authors, Victoria Scott, Brigid Kemmer and Zoraida Cordova, but I would love to meet Heather Demetrios, Morgan Matson, Lauren Layne, Tessa Dare, Lisa Kleypas and a whole bunch of others!
Ah so many good ones!
Ooh, I’d love to meet Sarah Dessen, Jenny Han, and Morgan Matson. I love their books. I’ve met most of my favorite romance novelists but I’d love to meet some awesome YA authors. Great pics!
Thank you!
Gah, it’d be amazing to meet Holly Black. I’ve been able to meet Leigh and Morgan too, because of BEA, and that was amazing. I’ve also met Emery Lord, and she’s the absolute sweetest, so I hope you get to meet her and the rest of them someday!
Ah I hope so too!! 😀
I WANNA MEET EMMA MILLS TOO!
HER BOOKS ARE THE BEST
I have also met Leigh Bardugo, Sarah Dessen, and Morgan Matson, and they were all lovely! I’m dying to see Leigh again, because I met her before the Six of Crows duology came out and now those are some of my all-time favorites. I’m crossing my fingers that she comes through ATL on tour for King of Scars! I would love to meet all of the authors you mentioned in the second half of this post, but especially Jenny Han and EMERY LORD OMG. She has been at the top of my authors-I’m-dying-to-meet list for years now.
Yes!! I think Emery Lord is my top overall!
That would be so cool to meet Leigh Bardugo! I’d love to meet Holly Black as well. 🙂
