April TBR

My monthly TBR feature here shows my progress based on last month’s TBR, my plans for this month, and anything else I might be thinking about from a reading perspective. Sometimes I feature a little poll at the bottom so you guys can help me figure out a certain title I should read from a group of books. March Progress       Not bad for March! I managed to read two library books (even though technically I did the audio for DATSAB instead of reading the actual book), two egalleys, and my book club selection. I would have gone deeper into some of the other books on my list but I was distracted by the new and shiny OBSIDIO library hold that came in way sooner than expected. Oh well! I also DNFed NO FILTER. On Deck for April Books with Due Dates – Library & Book Club   The Chaos of Standing Still by Brody | The Case for Jamie by Cavallaro The Wedding Date by Guillory | Book Club: Beastly Bones by Ritter I ended up listening to some of the library books I had checked out via audio, which was a cheat-y way to get them out of here, but at least I did! These are my current books. I’ve already started reading and listening to THE CHAOS OF STANDING STILL, and will definitely get to the other two later this month before they’re due back. Also, BEASTLY BONES is our book club pick for later this month! Egalleys    […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #175: Spring TBR

Ten A Lot of Books on my Spring TBR Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I love TBR posts like this because it puts the whole season into perspective, instead of just monthly ones like I usually do. I usually have long-range reading goals based on the books I own and need to read, ARCs on my Kindle/shelves, and book club picks. I’m definitely featuring more than ten because that’s how I roll. Book Club Picks: April/May/June    Jackaby series (#2, #3, and #4) by William Ritter I already know what book club is reading until we finish this series. I’m including April, May, and June here because we’re going to just blaze through them depending on when I come home each month. We started with JACKABY in March, so there are the rest for the spring into summer! Advanced Copies Coming Up      Furyborn by Legrand | Valley Girls by Lemon | Bookish Boyfriends by Schmidt August and Everything After by Doktorkski | The Elizas by Shepard I’m including all of the egalleys that are being published between April and May. I’m keeping away from the June/summer ones just because my list would be… extensive. I know that I WILL read […]

Spring Bingo TBR Ideas

Spring Bingo TBR Ideas

As you know by now, Bookish Bingo is one of my favorite challenges to participate in. I love completing the boards slowly and then learning what’s going to be on the new one! It’s always fun to see a fresh sheet. I usually do very well (either fill the board 100% or miss just a few spots). This one looks really possible to fill the board again and I’m determined to do it! Here are some TBR options (based on books I was planning to read). Reading, finished, and up next:   Family: Legendary by Stephanie Garber Historical fiction: My Plain Jane by Meadows/Hand/Ashton Part of a series: Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire CARAVAL is very family-oriented, as the whole book involves Scarlett looking for her sister, and LEGENDARY is similar. I don’t remember the synopsis so I won’t spoil anything and am too lazy to check… Let’s just say that the family theme definitely continues. MY PLAIN JANE is a historical fiction technically, but it’s not as historical fiction-y of a retelling (wow, what weird phrasing…) as MY LADY JANE. It’s based on a retelling of JANE EYRE but technically the plot happens back in the day, so it counts. The Wayward Children series continues with book two here, so that counts in a series (even though I guess it’s actually a prequel and not #2). Possible TBR:    Ocean theme: No Filter by Orlagh Collins Unlikeable main character: She Regrets Nothing by Andrea Dunlop Aussie author: Obsidio by […]

March TBR

March TBR

My monthly TBR feature here shows my progress based on last month’s TBR, my plans for this month, and anything else I might be thinking about from a reading perspective. Sometimes I feature a little poll at the bottom so you guys can help me figure out a certain title I should read from a group of books. February Progress     I feel like I completely forgot the books I genuinely NEEDED to read in February when I made my TBR. There were at least three books I knew I was getting this past month and I just ignored putting them on my TBR. As a result, I didn’t do the BEST job of reading from my TBR (especially after January’s success)… On Deck for March Some Library Books The Chaos of Standing Still – Brody | Public Relations – Healey/Rebolini Down Among the Sticks/Bones – McGuire | The Wonder of Us – Culbertson Beneath the Sugar Sky – McGuire | Nice Try, Jane Sinner – Oelke I’ve had most of these guys out for a while and I’m going to prioritize reading the majority of them before the end of the month. I’m not going to fool myself into thinking I’ll read all of them, but my plan is to (a) read them by order of due date and (b) prioritize the small books by Seanan McGuire because I’ll bang them out. Done! Upcoming Egalleys    No Filter by Orlagh Collins | Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett | Legendary by Stephanie Garber […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #169: Old TBR

Books from Way Back on my Goodreads TBR that I STILL Haven’t Read Somehow Top Ten Tuesdays were started by The Broke and the Bookish and are now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. I’m sure I’ve discussed this a few times in the past, but it’s always good to come back and remind myself! I think about the books I couldn’t wait for and HAD to buy but didn’t read right away ALL THE TIME. I’m not including purchased books because I have definitely purged a lot recently; I’ll just be using my Goodreads TBR today. I started my Goodreads account in 2010, so some of the earliest books are from back then.          The Secret by Rhonda Byrne | Added to Goodreads: September 2010 My friend’s mom told me about this book back in the day and if I’m being honest, I think it’s the reason I even made a Goodreads account?? I remember that I didn’t want to forget the title so I was looking up book tracking sites, and Goodreads popped up. It’s the first book I ever added to my TBR on there. I own a copy, I think, but I haven’t read the whole thing. Perfect Mistake & Ominous by Kate Brian | Added to Goodreads: September 2010 Kate […]

February TBR

My monthly TBR feature here shows my progress based on last month’s TBR, my plans for this month, and anything else I might be thinking about from a reading perspective. Sometimes I feature a little poll at the bottom so you guys can help me figure out a certain title I should read from a group of books. January Progress         GUYS THIS IS UNPRECEDENTED – for the first time ever, I read every single book on my TBR list from the previous month! I can’t believe it. So yes, I managed to read seven books out of the seven I picked out for January. I started the Hope’s Crossing series with BLACKBERRY SUMMER, read all three of my January egalleys, started my reading year with FOOLISH HEARTS, and read other books I’d been meaning to get to. I’m going to pat myself on the back all month. I also read a handful of books I picked out from my winter bingo TBR ideas! So that’s another two books, plus some of the ones up here that double-counted. YES. On Deck for February Finishing Bingo      Black author: Dear Martin by Nic Stone Science fiction: Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer Buddy read: TBD if Cristina and I do Book Buddies 2018 debut: Nice Try, Jane Sinner by Lianne Oelke Music themes: Noteworthy by Riley Redgate Library Books   Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire Book from my library holds list on the left, if something comes in! I picked up DATSAB the other […]

January TBR + Winter Bingo

January TBR + Winter Bingo

I recently started a monthly TBR feature, where I try to pin down which books I plan to read in the upcoming month. It also helps remind me throughout the month which books I’m supposed to be reading, for various reasons. I add a little poll at the bottom too, so you guys can vote and help me narrow down some of my options as well. Here are my top TBR choices for this month and how I did last month… December Progress       My main goals for December were to read holiday books, finish my Flights of Fantasy challenge, and finish my Goodreads challenge. I have successfully done all three! I managed to read four of the Christmassy books I put in my December TBR, skipped one, and read two others. I also killed two birds with one stone by reading a fantasy/holiday combo book of novellas. On Deck for January 2017 Leftovers & Borrowed books    Top Ten by Katie Cotugno // A Taxonomy of Love by Rachael Allen Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills  TOP TEN has been hanging around ever since my library hold came in sometime during December. I really love Cotugno’s books and can’t wait to see what her latest is like! I borrowed A TAXONOMY OF LOVE from Madalyn way too long ago and keep saying I’m going to read it. My first ~resolution~ is to read it ASAP. I need to be better about these things. And finally, FOOLISH HEARTS was only released […]

December TBR

I recently started a monthly TBR feature, where I try to pin down which books I plan to read in the upcoming month. It also helps remind me throughout the month which books I’m supposed to be reading, for various reasons. I add a little poll at the bottom too, so you guys can vote and help me narrow down some of my options as well. Here are my top TBR choices for this month and how I did last month… November Progress LOL AT NETGALLEY NOVEMBER, LAUREN. I didn’t read any of my review copies and only managed to read one physical copy. I’m not overly surprised because I didn’t read much during November anyways. Let’s move on to finish off the year strong… On Deck for December Holiday Reads      The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand | We’ll Always Have Christmas by Jenny Hale Winter Solstice by Elin Hilderbrand | Snowfall on Haven Point by RaeAnne Thayne The Best Little Christmas Shop by Maxine Morrey I’ve posted my holiday TBR before but wanted to highlight the books I can almost guarantee I’ll get to this month. I recently bought one, got one out from the library, and have two others from Netgalley. Because I’m in the middle of my Haven Point binge, I wanted to include the next in the series because it’s Christmassy. This companion series alternates between summer books and winter books, so this fits in here. I may be able to get another […]

Top Ten Tuesdays #159: Winter TBR

Ten Books I’m Reading ASAP in January 2018 Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we make lists of our top ten books (or something else!) based on that week’s prompt. The topics are provided ahead of time and can be found here. Book links bring you to Goodreads or my review. Because you’ve seen my holiday TBR already this week, you may have a good idea of which books I’ll be hitting in December. Combine THAT with the monthly TBR post I have coming up later this week and you get the full picture. I decided to feature instead the ten books I’m reading ASAP in January/late winter 2018. That way, you can see a different list instead of the same books repeated all week 😉 December/January Releases    Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills // I’m going to want to read this the minute I acquire it at some point, but I think I won’t have enough time in 2017 based on my other “required reading.” I’ve heard nothing but GREAT things about this story, plus I already have loooooved Mills’ two other books. Top priority! As You Wish by Chelsea Sedoti // I have an egalley of this already but haven’t gotten to it. I think this could be my first review copy of the new year! I’ve been enjoying the wish-themed books lately and hopefully this one lives up to the potential. Together at Midnight by Jennifer Castle // I LOVE this premise! I’m a huge fan of […]

Tis the Season! | Holiday Plans & TBR 2017

Tis the Season! | Holiday Plans & TBR 2017

As usual, I’m overly excited to bring you my reading plan for the holidays! I also have a bunch of other fun things to include, because maybe you know by now how much I love the Christmas season. I wanted to post this early enough to share the Book Buddies book we’re reading for December (because I’m starting it soon) and the other movies or shows I plan to binge ASAP. I started listening to Christmas music the day after Halloween, so I usually don’t care about “after Thanksgiving I can be excited for Christmas” stuff…. but I thought this would be a good time to share. At the bottom of the post, you’ll find ALL of the recent years’ holiday posts, which includes book reviews, discussions, holiday guest posts, Christmassy tags, and lists of my favorite books or tropes. I haven’t done a recap yet in these “intro” posts so if you’re looking for immediate recommendations to add to your TBR this year, check those posts out! I will be using the same review format as last year, including the cheer-o-meter and holiday graphics to show which are mentioned in the book! I’m a big fan of these graphics and review information, so hopefully no one is sick of seeing them quite yet 😉 As you can see, I have a decent amount of options here! Of course there could be some more that pop up and my TBRs are never set in stone. I wanted to include a few […]
