WWW Wednesdays #15

WWW Wednesdays are hosted by Should Be Reading, where we answer three questions: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What are you planning to read next? I’m continuing my Gallagher Girls reread (in audiobook form) with Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy. I have only another half hour or so left and I’m so intrigued! I can’t believe I don’t remember anything about this series anymore! It’s a very good thing I decided to reread instead of just finishing the last books in the series. I first read the books when I was in middle school/high school, so it’s been quite a while! It’s kind of sparking an interest in me to reread books in general! I’ve been dying to possibly pick up A Great and Terrible Beauty series again. Anyways, the book I’m currently reading is White Hot Kiss – my first JLA book! I decided to pick it up on a whim. I went to B&N recently and read the first page of the book and was pretty intrigued. I’m halfway through and not sure how I feel so far. The story is VERY different, which is cool, but I’m a little confused. (Can anyone help me with this? The humans know that the wardens exist, but no one knows demons or other creatures exist? So, what do people think the wardens do? Seriously, if you know the answer, please tell me!) I finished the first Gallagher Girls book, I’d Tell You I […]

WWW Wednesdays #14

WWW Wednesdays are hosted by Should Be Reading, where we answer three questions: what are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? and what are you planning to read next? I’ve got quite a bit going on this week! I started my reread of the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter. I’m actually listening to them all on audio and it’s been interesting so far. I LOVED this series; I initially read them when they first came out. I kept up with them for a few years but haven’t read the last two books. I figured a reread would be helpful to finish off the series. I NEVER reread book, so kudos to you Ally Carter for prompting me to do it! The one thing I dislike is the narrator’s voice.. holy shit she makes them sound like 11 year old girls. One of my Book Buddies and I are reading Salt & Storm for our October buddy review, but I can’t seem to get into it. She’s going to give it a try and let me know what she thinks; we may be switching it up. In the meantime I’m kind of pausing that reading. I started The Art of Wishing this morning since it’s due back to the library soon. It should be a quick read and it’s really fun so far. I’m excited to see where it goes! DAMN I didn’t realize how much I read this week until all of the covers were sitting […]

WWW Wednesdays #13

WWW Wednesdays are hosted by Should Be Reading, where we answer three questions: what are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? and what are you planning to read next? I just started Catching Jordan the other day and am already pretty far in. So far the characters are amazing. I LOVE Jordan and all of the boys on her team that seem to have her back no matter what. I can’t believe I haven’t read a book about football yet considering it’s my entire life during autumn. I’m still working on Poisoned Apples. Because it’s a book of poetry, I’m just kind of slowly reading through them. I’m listening to Rites of Passage on audio right now and I have extremely mixed feelings. I like that Sam is such a badass who doesn’t let anyone bring her down. I like the impending romance that’s happening. BUT – I absolutely can’t stand the hazing and misogyny. I know that it’s supposed to show their attitudes and how resilient Sam can be, but it’s just really hard for me to listen to. I’ve thought about stopping it quite a few times but I’m not one to DNF books. I know the hazing is only going to get worse, so I’m not sure I’ll be able to handle it, but I like that the romance will be coming into play soon and that she’s starting to figure out what’s really going on at the DMA. I’m interested enough in the […]

WWW Wednesdays #12

I am FINALLY, happily reading Dissonance by Erica O’Rourke. I’m glad to say that so far I’m about 50% in and it is certainly meeting/exceeding my expectations. The concept of multiple universes being created for every decision we make is absolutely fascinating to me. I’ve thought about this since I was a kid and can’t believe someone created a book about it. Her writing style is perfect and I’m so engrossed in what’s happening. I’m hoping to have this one done by the weekend. I don’t have a current audiobook since I just finished Big Little Lies (below) this morning.   I finished Trial By Fire by Josephine Angelini FINALLY (review). It was a great book and I wish it didn’t take me so long to read. I’m anxiously awaiting the sequel to this book because it left in a little cliffhanger. Not a shocking cliffhanger, but one that makes you NEED to see what happens next. A lot of the book focused more on world-building and setting the stage for the following books, but that really worked for me. Ask Again Later by Liz Czukas (review posting later today) was a really funny, light read that was exactly what I needed. I sat down and finished it within a few sittings over the course of two days. The characters were great and I LOVE dual decision books like this one. It definitely made it onto my favorites list! This morning I finished Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty, which I was expecting […]

WWW Wednesdays #11

Okay so not much has changed since last week and that makes me sad. Again I had to pause my reading of Trial by Fire to finish up two book commitments. I’m finally making some progress, although I’m realizing now that it wasn’t the best book to be stop-and-go with. It’s not that I’m confused, it’s just that I somewhat forgot some of the things that happened. I plan to definitely finish it by the end of the week so hopefully my review will up soon! I’m still listening to my audiobook of Big Little Lies and things are starting to get really good. I love Liane Moriarty’s style. I read Just Like Fate for Andi’s Parallel Time Loop, starting this month! My guest post for her will be showing up on October 13th. I really enjoyed that one and posted my review last week. It was nice to get into the parallel universe books I’ve been talking about for so long but haven’t even read. I got Famous in Love through On the Same Page ARC tours and my review will be posted on the release date (the 21st). I had mixed feelings on this one. It was enjoyable for the most part as I read it, but looking back I was irritated by a lot of the elements of the book. Yeah, yet again, Dissonance is up next. It’s still sitting on my desk, waiting to be read from the library. I’m going to have to renew it within […]

WWW Wednesdays #10

I received Trial By Fire in the form of a physical ARC from the publisher and have been reading it in between all of my other reading committments. I am definitely enjoying it and wish I could devote all of my time to it, but it hasn’t been possible given the ARC tour scheduling and the reading I need to finish for a guest post (stay tuned!). Just Like Fate is great so far! I’ve been absolutely cranking through it because it’s so good (and because I need to finish reading it before Friday :)). My current audiobook is Big Little Lies, which is interesting so far. I’m not very far along yet but its nice to throw in some adult fiction every once in a while…especially because I love Liane Moriarty. Well I’ve been making up for lost time, finally! I finished Second Chance Summer, which completely exceeded my expectations. I received Damsel Distressed from On the Same Page ARC Tours and had to make sure I finished it within the week. I really liked it, but it was definitely darker than I expected. That Summer, once I realized it was in my library’s audiobook files, was an impromptu choice. I was a little disappointed in it because not much happened plot-wise and  the characters were too selfish. Again, thanks to On the Same Page ARC Tours, I will be starting Famous in Love as soon as it arrives on my doorstep! I’m excited to have the ability to read […]

I’m still working on Second Chance Summer by Morgan Maston. It’s a long book that I’m really enjoying, but I just haven’t had enough time to read. I’m about 2/3 of the way through. I am definitely planning on finishing by the weekend! This book is really great so far. I absolutely love the characters, learning about their lives, and seeing Taylor get back into her routine with friends and family. I do have a feeling it’s going to make me cry, though…  I am not sure what audiobook I’m going to work on next, because I just finished Breathe, Annie, Breathe by Miranda Kenneally literally twenty minutes ago. So as of right now, I’m not listening to anything! Since last week, I’ve only finished two audiobooks. The only time I’ve really been able to “read” is while getting ready in the morning or driving to work. I loved both of these ones! I highly recommend them. Open Road Summer was a great debut from Emery Lord. Breathe, Annie, Breathe was a book I wasn’t really interested in reading when I saw it come out. Everyone had written glowing reviews and saw it on sale on Audible, so I decided to give it a shot. So, so glad I did! I have two ARCs I need to get done ASAP! I’m a part of the Damsel Distressed (by Kelsey Macke) ARC tour, so I have a week to read it once I receive it. It should be arriving today or tomorrow […]

WWW Wednesdays #8

I slacked on my usual memes this week because of moving on Monday and my birthday yesterday. My participation in memes most likely won’t happen on a regular weekly basis anymore now that I’m comfortable with developing some other features. If the topic stands out to me and I have a good response for it, I’ll definitely participate! Without further ado… The books are both for my Goodbye Summer Readathon (and also cheating by having them be a part of Swoony September). I can tell that Second Chance Summer is going to be heavier read, but I’m looking forward to the fact that it will be a more family-oriented book than a romance one. I’m almost done with Open Road Summer and am really excited to see how it ends. I love the characters in this book. Since last Wednesday, I finished two books. It feels weird because this is the least I’ve read since before August. This past week has been ridiculously busy and there are no signs that it’s going to slow down. I liked Five Summers but it wasn’t as good as I expected. I loved Twenty Boy Summer! It was a perfect blend of heavy and light contemporary topics.   I bought this one a long time ago and it’s been sitting on my Kindle for a while. Effortless with You has almost a four star rating on Goodreads so I’m hoping for the best! I currently don’t have any audiobooks lined up next; I’m waiting to see if anything […]

WWW Wednesdays #7

The books are both for my Goodbye Summer Readathon (and also cheating by having them be a part of Swoony September). I am currently working on Five Summers by Una LaMarche. So far, so good; I’m about halfway through. The book switches between the four girls’ points of view AND also goes back to their POVs during past summers at camp. With all the switching between characters and moments in time, you’d think it would be confusing. It’s actually pulled off pretty well. I like 3 out of the 4 main characters at this point – Skylar is pissing me off. I just finished my previous audiobook this morning and haven’t technically started Open Road Summer by Emory Lord yet, but I’ll be starting it this afternoon once I leave work! I’ve been looking forward to this one for a longgg time.           Since last Wednesday, I FINALLY finished The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton (review this week; spoiler: very much disliked) on audiobook. I just finished The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider this morning; I really enjoyed it and loved the narrator’s voice. The review will come early next week. Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway was good but didn’t blow me away (review). Since Last Summer by Joanna Philbin was somewhat disappointing because the first one was much better. This one was too predictable and had some annoying elements (review soon). Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler has been on […]

WWW Wednesdays #6

I am still struggling through the audiobook of The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender. I only have an hour and a half left! I’ve never been so close to stopping a book in the middle. For my regular book, I’m finally reading Audrey, Wait! I’ve had this one probably since the year it came out and it’s been stuck in my pre-college book haul box. I like it so far but there’s something about it that makes me not want to read it all the time. I’ve been blessed with a lot of good books lately that have left me completely addicted, but this one isn’t striking that chord with me yet. Sigh. I love you so much Jenny Han. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before was a great book that I can’t believe took me so long to finally get to. I’m so glad the anticipation didn’t ruin it for me. I cannot wait for the second one! Otherwise, I finished Bout of Books pretty strong by finishing 6 books out of my goal of 7. Included in that were There’s Cake in my Future and The Heiresses. I enjoyed them both a lot. My reviews for all three of these will be up within the week. Well, I mentioned The Beginning of Everything during last week’s WWW Wednesday because I was hoping to be done with my current audiobook. Since that’s not the case, I’ll be starting this one by the end of the week. For real books, I’m starting […]
